Analytic study of a new conceptual propulsion device for ships

  • In this work the possibility of obtaining a rectilinear motion of bodies partially or totally submerged without using propellers is evaluated. The system propulsion is based on a pair of counter rotating masses that generate the thrust. The fluid-body system has been schematized in order to carry out a very simple model. Using this model an evaluation of the body motion along a longitudinal direction was performed. The motion equations of the system were written and integrated. The external forces applied to the body depend on its velocity in relation to the water. These forces were obtained by fluid dynamic simulations. Regarding the mechanical configuration suggested, the results obtained show that a certain displacement of the body along a fixed direction is obtainable.

손상 선박의 자세를 고려한 여객선 승객 탈출 시뮬레이션 (Passenger Ship Evacuation Simulation Considering External Forces due to the Inclination of Damaged Ship)

  • This paper presents a simulation for passenger ship evacuation considering the inclination of a ship. In order to describe a passenger's behavior in an evacuation situation, a passenger is modeled as a rigid body which translates in the horizontal plane and rotates along the vertical axis. The position and rotation angle of a passenger are calculated by solving the dynamic equations of motions at each time step. To calculate inclined angle of damaged ship, static equilibrium equations of damaged ship are derived using "added weight method". Using these equations, physical external forces due to the inclination of a ship act on the body of each passenger. The crowd behavior of the passenger is considered as the flock behavior, a form of collective behavior of a large number of interacting passengers with a common group objective. Passengers can also avoid an obstacle due to penalty forces acting on their body. With the passenger model and forces acting on its body, the test problems in International Maritime Organization, Maritime Safety Committee/Circulation 1238(IMO MSC/Circ.1238) are implemented and the effects of ship's inclination on the evacuation time are confirmed.

  • This study predicts muscle forces acting on the lower extremity when the knee joint is in deep flexion. The whole body was approximated as a link model, and then the moment equilibrium equations at the lower extremity joints were derived far given reaction farces against the ground. Measurement of deep flexion was carried out by placing ten markers on the body. This study calculated the moment acting at each Joint from the equations of force and moment, classified the complicated muscles around the knee joint, and then predicted the muscle forces to balance the joint moment. Two models were proposed in this study: the simpler one that consists of three groups of muscle and the more detailed one of nine groups of muscle.

  • 본 논문은 구동력이 자전거의 self-stability 에 미치는 영향을 해석한다. 운전자의 제어를 고려하지 않는 자전거의 self-stability 는 자전거의 선형 모델로부터 고유치를 구하여 해석 할 수 있다. 전륜과 후륜에 작용하는 자전거 구동력을 고려한 선형모델을 개발하고 이로부터 구동력이 안정성에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다. 선형모델의 결과가 다물체 동역학 모델의 시뮬레이션을 통한 비선형 자전거 모델에서도 같은 결과를 보임을 확인하였다.

착좌시 하지 동작의 생체역학적 모델 (A biomechanical model of lower extremity for seated operators)

  • A two-dimensional static biochemical model of lower extremity in the seated posture was developed to assess muscular activities of lower extremity required for a variety of foot pedal operations. We found that the double linear optimization method that has been used for modelling articulated body segments does no predict the forces generated by biarticular muscles reasonably, so the revised double linear optimization scheme was used to consider the synergistic effects of biarticular muscles in our model, assuming that the muscle forces are distributed proportionally based on their physiological cross sectional area. The model incorporated three rigid body se- gments with six muscles to represnet lower extremity. For the model validation, three male subjects performed the experiments in which EMG activities of six lower extremity muscles were measured. Predicted muscle forces were compare with the corresponding EMG amplitudes and it showed no statistical difference. The model being developed can be used to design and assess pedal and foot-related tool design.

측벽부근을 항해하는 선박과 측벽간의 상호 간섭력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hydrodynamic Interaction Forces between Ship and Bank Wall in the Proximity of Bank)

  • It is well known that the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall affect ship manoeuvring motions. In this paper, the calculation method based on the slender body theory for estimation of the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall is investigated. The numerical simulations on hydrodynamic interaction force acting on a ship in the proximity of bank wall are carried out by using this theoretical method. The theoretical method used in this paper will be useful for practical prediction of ship manoeuvrability at the initial stage of design, for discussion of marine traffic control system and for automatic control system of ship in confined waterways.

  • A 6-year-old male German Shepherd was admitted to the Armed Forces Second Animal Clinic for clinical examination The symptoms were anorexia, dyspnea, emaciation and ascites. Treatment was given for a month but its condition did not improve, euthanasia was therefore performed and the dog was submitted for necropsy. A tumor was found at the base of the heart between the ascending aorta and the pulmonary artery It was diagnosed an aortic body tumor by clinical signs, gross lesions and histopathologic features.

불규칙파 중에 Turret 계류된 부유체의 천이운동해석 (Transient Surge Motion of A Turret Moored Body in Random Waves)

  • 해상에 계류된 부유체는 입사하는 파도에 의해 선형항인 파랑하중과 함께 2차항인 표류력을 받는다. 2차항의 표류력은 자유표면조건의 비선형성에 의해 서로 유사한 주파수를 갖는 2개의 선형 성분파간의 상호작용으로 발생하는 장주기 성분을 포함하고 있다. 대개의 계류계의 수평 인장력은 관성력항에 비해 아주 작은 양이고, 따라서 계류계의 설치로 나타나는 부유체의 수평운동 고유주기는 장주기이므로 때로는 공진이 일어나게 된다. 이렇게 야기된 대진폭운동은 작업조건을 악화시키는 것은 물론 계류계에 심각한 손상을 줄 수 있다. 부유체의 계류계로 최근 관심을 모으고 있는 Turret 계류계의 설계에도 이러한 장주기 표류력에 대한 고려와 함께 풍향성이 있는(weathervaning) 천이운동시 Roller Bearing에 걸리는 수평하중에 대한 해석이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 불규칙파중에 계류된 부유체에 작용하는 장주기 표류력을 2차 전달함수를 사용하여 계산한 뒤 장주기 표류력에 의한 전후동요를 시간기억 효과를 고려하여 시뮬레이션하였다. 계류계로는 분산된(spread) Turret형 계류계를 대상으로 하였으며 계류계의 수평인장계수를 매시간 단계마다 계산하는 방법으로 비선형성을 고려하였다.

  • This study presents a method to determine the ground reation forces of a quadruped walking machine on its foot ends caused by the body weight and the inertia forces from the commanded acceleration. The method shows the same result as the Pseudo-Inverse Method when the 4 feet stand on a plane. However method can be applied even when the 4 feet stand on a non-planar surface for which, no feasible solution can be obtained by the Pesudo-Inverse Method.
