  • This study aimed to present a reinforced concrete block system that reduces the flange thickness of the existing form block used in new buildings and optimizes the web form, and can thus capable of being used in the seismic retrofit of new and existing buildings. By conducting a compression test and finite element analysis based on the block and grouted concrete strength, it attempted to determine the compression capacity of the form block that can be used in new construction and seismic retrofit. As a result, the comparison of the strength equation from Architectural Institute of Japan to the prism compression test showed that the mortar coefficient of 0.55 was suitable instead of 0.75 recommended in the equation. The stress-strain relation of the block was proposed as a bi-linear model based on the compression test result of the single form block. Using the proposed model, finite element analysis was conducted on the prism specimens, and it was shown that the proposed model predicted the compression behavior of the form block appropriately.

  • The increase of impermeable area ratio is causing hydrologic cycle problems in urban areas and groundwater depletion in rural areas, permeable pavements are getting attention to expand permeable areas. The performance of the permeable concrete block pavement, which is part of the permeable pavement, is greatly affected by the porosity. In addition, the permeability coefficient is a major factor when designing permeable concrete block pavement. Existing porosity and permeability test methods have problems such as uneconomical or poor field applicability. The object of this study was to develop a methodology for evaluating porosity and permeability coefficient using a surface image of a permeable concrete block. Specimens are manufactured with various porosity ranges and porosity and permeability tests are performed. After surface image preprocessing, normalization and binarization methods were compared. Through this, the method with the highest correlation with the lab test result was determined. From the results, the PDR (pore determined ratio) was obtained. Simple linear regression analysis is performed with PDR and lab test results. The results showed a high correlation of R2 more than 0.8, and the errors were also low.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive beamforming algorithm for array antenna. The proposed beamforming algorithm, based on Block LMS (Block - Least Mean Squares) algorithm, has a variable step size from coefficient update. This method shows some advantages that the convergence speed is fast and the calculation time can reduced using a block LMS algorithm from frequency domain. As the adaptive parameter approaches a stationary state, it could reduce the number of filter coefficient update with the help of various step size. In this paper we compared the efficiency of the proposed algorithm with a standard LMS algorithm which is a representative method of adaptive beamforming.

  • Environmental pollution problems are occurring due to the negative treatment of basalt waste in Jeju Island. This study identifies the characteristics of permeable block with basalt with physical and chemical adsorption mechanisms and examines their applicability and functionality as building materials. This experiment is basic data for evaluating the functionality of the permeable block by analyzing flexural strength, compressive strength, permeability coefficient, carbon dioxide, and fine dust adsorption rate by producing a permeable block using a basalt waste rock. As the basalt waste stone replacement rate increased, the flexural strength and compressive strength tended to decrease, and as the replacement rate increased, the water permeability coefficient, absorption rate, carbon dioxide, and fine dust adsorption rate tended to increase. Therefore, it is judged that the permeable block using the basalt waste rock is superior to the existing permeable block.

  • In this paper, a ground disturbance effects, strength and consolidation characteristics of soft clay through using the large block samples($\theta$:300mm, H:400mm) and the piston samples, f hose which had been gathered in west coast and south coast. Especially, we have assessed the coefficient of horizontal consolidation when penetrating the mandrel considering the variance of ratio between diameter and height in drainage sample through the experiment of the oedometer test and Rowecell and also investigated the disturbance area in smear zone by interior model test, the strength originated by disturbance, the variance in characteristics of the consolidation. As the result, the large block sample has been investigated that ihe uniaxial compression test(qu) was shown bigger than the piston sample by about 11-19%. Under the size of anistropy in consolidation, the coefficient ratio of consolidation(ch/cv,) perfomed by standard consolidation test(SC) was shown bigger than that of (Cro/Cv) by the Rowecell test. And the coefficient ratio of consolidation(Cro/Cv) perfomed by piston sample was evaluated bigger than that Of (Cro/Cv) by the large block sample by about 0.9-1.9. The coefficient ratio of consolidation along with the variance in ratio of between diameter and height when penetrating the mandrel was shown big difference according to the characteristics of soil of the specimen. In addition, ds/dw of smear zone at the marine clay in west-south was ranged from 1.6 to 4.2. The width of variance in rat io[(qud)/(quud)] of strength n the area between disturbance and undisturbance was shown big as about 72-91% but the principle was judged with the similiar range when the decrease of the strength in smear zone become the zone under 25% in unditurbance area.

  • In this paper we propose a method that improves PSNR at low bit rate and reduces computational complexity in fractal image coding based on discrete wavelet transform. The proposed method, which uses significant coefficient tree, improves PSNR of the reconstructed image and reduces computational comlexity of mapping domain block onto range block by matching only the significant coefficients of range block to coefficients of domain block. Also, the proposed method reduces error propagation form lower resolution subbands to higher resolution subbands by correcting error of lower resolution subbands. Some experimental results confirm that the proposed method reduces encoding and decoding time significantly and has fine reconstructed images having no blocking effect and clear edges at low bit rate.

  • In this paper, we propose the method of embedding the encrypted digital watermark in quantization coefficient when we encode the image data in the process of JPEC. The proposed method is as following. After a DCT coefficient of each block is quantized, we arrange the quantization coefficient as on dimension with a zigzag scan and replace each block. By applying even-odd feature of frequency of the encrypted watermark to a quantization coefficient of some fixed domain of replaced each block and embedding it, we obtain the compressed image data by encoding after placing it in the order prior to replacement. The advantages of the proposed method here are as follows: We can embed many information keeping a secret as much as possible by using the algorithm of block replacement. We can control the amount of embedding of each use, as we embed the encrypted information by selecting some fixed domain of a quantization coefficient, we can fix the embedding data regardless of the image and the value of quantization. We verified the results by experiments and analyzed the efficiency of them in comparison with the former study.

  • In [2] A.Hadjidimos proposed the generalized accelerated over-relaxation (GAOR) methods which generalize the basic iterative method for the solution of linear systems. In this paper we consider the convergence of the two parallel accelerated generalized AOR iterative methods and obtain some convergence theorems for the case when the coefficient matrix A is a block diagonally dominant matrix or a generalized block diagonally dominant matrix.

  • Employing non-associated flow rule and Power-Law failure criterion, the failure mechanisms of tunnel roof in homogeneous and layered soils are studied in present analysis. From the viewpoint of energy, limit analysis upper bound theorem and variation principle are introduced to study the influence of dilatancy on the collapse mechanism of rectangular tunnel considering effects of supporting force and seepage force. Through calculation, the collapsing curve expressions of rectangular tunnel which are excavated in homogeneous soil and layered soils respectively are derived. The accuracy of this work is verified by comparing with the existing research results. The collapsing surface shapes with different dilatancy coefficients are draw out and the influence of dilatancy coefficient on possible collapsing range is analyzed. The results show that, in homogeneous soil, the potential collapsing range decreases with the decrease of the dilatancy coefficient. In layered soils, the total height and the width on the layered position of possible collapsing block increase and the width of the falling block on tunnel roof decrease when only the upper soil's dilatancy coefficient decrease. When only the lower soil's dilatancy coefficient decrease or both layers' dilatancy coefficients decrease, the range of the potential collapsing block reduces.
