  • In the many kind of construct-material, the concrete which has the high-strength and a durability is sufficient to use with structure-material. But the color of concrete is very monotony so generally concrete isn't used the out surface. although color concrete is a method of expressing surface, the combination of pigment and cement cause many Physical problem such as efflorescence phenomenon, strength degradation and so on. In this study, It attempt to develop the black mortar using the industrial by-product and to evaluate basic physical properties compare with general color concrete to solve the color concrete problem. The result of experiment showed that Black NSC which was made by-product has more visible black color than any mortar.

  • This paper is to investigate experimentally an effect of carbon amino silica black-superplasticizer(CASB-SP)on the engineering properties and chromaticity of black color concrete with 0.45 of W/C(water to cement). CASB-SP and carbon black were applied for pigment of the concrete. To prevent efflorescence of concrete, four different water repellent agents were also applied. As results, it was found that use of CASB-SP increased the slump and air contents. Furthermore, the use of CASB-SP increased the compressive strength. As CASB-SP dosages increased, chromaticity was well developed. For the effect of water repellent agent, the use of epoxy type was effective for protection from efflorescence. Based on test results, it was evaluated that 0.5% of CASB-SP effectively improve the concrete quality as well as enhance the chromaticity with proper dosage.

  • In this study, basic physical properties and color development of the black concrete depending on CASB-SP dosages are investigated. According to results, It showed that the slump and air contents of the concrete containing CASB-SP meet all requirements of concrete except when CASB-SP 5.0 % is used. It also showed that the more the CASB-SP is used, the higher the compressive strength becomes. On the other hand, It is found that if the CASB-SP 5.0 % is used, the compressive strength was reduced as the more CASB-SP 5 % is used. In terms of color, it was found out that the more CASB-SP is used, the darker the black becomes.

  • This paper presents the result of a mock-up test and field application of concrete that is black in color thanks to the application of superplasticizer containing carbon amino silica black (CASB-SP). Mock-up specimen with a size of $3000{\times}1500{\times}40$ mm was fabricated with black concrete applying 0.5% of CSAB-SP with 27 MPa. After dividing the zone in wall mock-up specimen, three different water repelling agents were applied to verify its effect of efflorescence prevention. It was found that the use of CASB-SP with 0.5% made the black concrete develop a highly clear black color, and the epoxy type water repelling agent had better performance in efflorescence prevention. Based on mock-up test, field application was conducted with bridge member. It was also found that the application of CASB-SP showed favorable results in black color development.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the possibilities of blending carbon black, which is known for its permeability as well as its strong heat and fire resistance, into concrete, in a manner that reinforces its strengths mentioned above. Experiments show that in non-solidified, fresh-mixed concrete, the addition of carbon black effectively reduced slump level and air content due to its absorptiveness and minute particle size. It also showed good results in terms of coagulation time, penetration resistance and bleeding level. In solid concrete, it showed better strength than plain concrete. Due to the pozzolanic reaction, its strength became more pronounced over time. At approximately 850 degrees Celsius, the heat and fire resistance level increased in parallel to the level of chemical substitution (by carbon black). Drying shrinkage level appeared to be optimal, and environmental assessment test results related to CO, CO2 and formaldehyde also scored better than plain concrete. In summary, with the appropriate use of AE water-reducing agents, carbon black can prove to be a strong candidate as an ingredient for industry-grade concrete.

  • VES-LMC(very-early strength latex modified concrete) has been widely used as repair material for bridge deck overlay or rehabilitation, because it could be opened to the traffic after 3 hours of curing. However, the bright color of VES-LMC disturb driver's sigh. A black VES-LMC, matching to asphalt concrete, was developed and applied at a filed for driver's comfort and safety. The black VES-LMC included 2% carbon black in cement weight ratio. A series of performance evaluation for black VES-LMC was done in terms of field applicability, pavement color and temperature change. The field applicability test result showed that there were no change of workability, slump and air void, and the compressive strengthen developed more than 20MPa after 4 hours of placement. The thermal stress of black VES-LMC was smaller than that of OPC and asphalt concrete, which means the stability of black VES-LMC. The performance evaluation result showed that the black VES-LMC could prevent road icing at below zero temperatures and promote thawing at melting temperature.

  • To defend against harmful gamma radiation, new types of materials for use in the construction of heavyweight concrete (HWC) are still needed to be developed. This research introduces new materials to be employed as a partial replacement for fine aggregate (FA) to manufacture high-performance heavyweight concrete (HPHWC). These materials include hematite, black sand, ilmenite, and magnetite, with substitution ratios of 50% and 100% of FA. In this research, the hardening and fresh characteristics of HPHWC were obtained. Concrete samples' Gamma-ray linear attenuation coefficient was evaluated utilizing a gamma source of Co-60 through the thicknesses of 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15 cm. High temperatures were studied for HPHWC samples, which were exposed to up to 700℃ for two hours. Energy-dispersive x-rays and a scanning electron microscope carried out microstructure analyses. Magnetite as an FA attained the lowest compressive strength of 87.1 MPa, but the best radiation protection characteristics and the highest density of 3100 kg/m3 were achieved. After 28 days, the attenuation efficiency of concrete mixtures was increased by 6.5% when fine sand was replaced with black sand at a ratio of 50%. HPHWC, which contains hematite, black sand, ilmenite, and magnetite, is designed to reduce environmental and health dangers and be used in medicinal, military, and civil applications.
