  • An algorithm using topological mapping has been developed for a real-time detection of the QRS complexes of ECG signals. As a measurement of QRS complex energy, we used topological mapping from one dimensional sampled ECG signals to two dimensional vectors. These vectors are reconstructed with the sampled ECG signals and the delayed ones. In this method, the detection rates of CRS complex vary with the parameters such as R-R interval average and peak detection threshold coefficient. We use mean, median, and iterative method to determint R-R interval average and peak estimation. We experiment on various value of search back coefficient and peak detection threshold coefficient to find optimal rule.

  • The effective Young’s modulus of a microfibril surrounded by water may be simply calculated by using the upper (Voigt) and lower (Reuss) bounds, which is one way to estimate the Young’s modulus in composite materials. The Steered Molecular Dynamics (SMD) has been used for estimating the Young’s modulus of a microfibril surrounded by water. In this paper, the result estimated by the upper (Voigt) and lower (Reuss) bounds shows 9.2% to 21.8% discrepancy from the result estimated by SMD, but introducing “efficiency of reinforcement parameter” removes the discrepancy and shows good agreement with the result estimated by SMD. We found the best fit for the Young’s modulus against the size of the gap between microfibrils. Also the steps using these bounds are much simpler than SMD.

  • In this paper, we have performed an experiment to obtain an optimized electric stimulation condition on the tip or a ringer skin. The desired parameters for stimulation of the finger tip skin are waveforms, frequency, stimulation intensity, duty cycle. As a result, when the finger skin was stimulated with monophasic, biphasic, and differntial phasic, the most appropriate condition was 200 to 250[Hz] in frequency, 10 to 25[%] in duty cycle. Burst type pulse was more sensitive effect than that of continuous pulse methode.

  • In this paper, we study about reflectance photometer for measuring teflectance changes on reagent strip material after applying of a liguid sample. To obtain more accurate reflectance parameter, the strip loader and cassette is designed. The system is designed to work with IBM personal computer. As the experimental results, reflectance level measured of korean standard color paper and shows a exponentially proportion to brightness of paper. A diagnostic strip for total protein is applied to our system and shows a good correlation in a physically protein concentration range.(up to 500 mg/dl).

  • In this study, for the coding of stereoscopic video sequence, two approaches are presented based on simulcast mathod and sidefield image format. The field sequential method for stereoscopic visualization have been specified. Also, camera parameter and shooting conditions for each test sequence are studied. Coding method based on sidefield format structure revealed better performance over simulcast in PSNR.

  • Oxygen saturation is an important parameter in clinical fields; fetal monitoring, apnea, emergency medicine etc. Because of monitoring patients continuously, pulse oximeter that measures oxigen saturation non-invasively is regarded attentively. But, though research about accuracy of signal extraction has been developed, it actually plays a supplementary part in hospital for not trusting the principle of measurement by clinicians. In this paper focusing on these things, first we suggested simple mathematical modelling on separating do components, ac components andnoise components in optical signal transmitted from fingertip or earlobe, and then we considered oxygen saturation computing algorithm using integral ratio of pulsating components. Last, we analyzed its effect by comparing received data.

  • In this paper, the control scheme is proposed that PI controller parameter used for TAH speed control is adapted by fuzzy logic method using only the motor current waveform. By scheduling PI parameters, minimization of the vibration and the energy consumption and overcoming AoP loads becomes possible. In in vitro tests experimental results show our approach is a good scheme that is adapted to changing afterloads well.

  • Xanthine Oxidase is an enzyme, which oxidizes hypoxanthine to xanthine, and xanthine to uric acid. It is widely distributed throughout various organs including the liver, gut, lungs, kidney, heart, brain and plasma. It is involved in gout pathogenesis. Hence, in the present study, Hologram based Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship Study was performed on a series of Xanthine Oxidase antagonist named 2-(indol-5-yl) thiazole derivatives. The best HQSAR model was obtained using Atoms, Bonds, Connection, Hydrogen, Chirality and Donor Acceptor as fragment distinction parameter using hologram length 71 and 4 components with fragment size of minimum 2 and maximum 5. Significant cross-validated correlation coefficient ($q^2$= 0.563) and non cross-validated correlation coefficients ($r^2$= 0.967) were obtained. The model was then used to evaluate the six external test compounds and its $r^2{_{pred}}$ was found to be 0.798. Contribution map show that presence of propyl ring in indole thiazole makes big contributions for improving the biological activities of the compounds. We hope that our HQSAR model and analysis will be helpful for future design of xanthine oxidase antagonists.

  • Hydrolase is a group of the most widely used enzymes in industrial biological processes. Generally, their activities are easily changed with pH. With this characteristics, research for the optimal pH of hydrolases is required to obtain the optimization of process conditions. We selected xylanase, lysozyme, glucoamylase and barnase as model enzymes. To predict optimum pH of hydrolases, the calculation program based on Tanford-Kirkwood(TK) model was used. Results show that charge difference of catalytic residues is an important parameter deciding optimum pH and when charge difference of catalytic residues is maximum, optimum pH of the hydrolase establishes.

  • Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is one of the representative physiotherapical modalities used for the treatment of various musculoskeletal disorders by the application of electrical stimuli. In dental practice, it has long been used in the treatment of acute and chronic orofacial pain conditions including temporomandibular disorders. TENS is the delivery of therapeutic electrical stimuli with a variety of electrical intensity, frequency and duration to stimulate peripheral nerve through surface electrodes with various form and placement. While controversy still remains over the clinical effectiveness and application of TENS, basic understanding of its electrical properties and the expected biological reactions is important to increase the therapeutic effect and decrease the risk of possible side effects. This review, therefore, focuses on basic understanding of TENS including its underlying mechanisms and stimulation parameters.
