  • Preprocessing technique of the measurement bearing data is presented to improve the tar-get estimation accuracy for the bearing-only target notion analysis (TMA). Computer simulation is performed to compare with respect to the extended Kalman filter. By computer simulation, the target filter estimator with preprocessing Is both stable and robust to the measurement bearing noise.

선체 변형 근사곡선을 이용한 추진축계 정렬의 유연성 평가 (The Flexibility Estimation of Alignment for Propulsion Shaft System using the Approximated Hull Deflection Curve)

  • In this paper, based on the measured data of hull deflection, an approximated hull deflection curve is drawn using reverse analyzed hull deflection data and the estimation method for flexibility analysis of shaft alignment is proposed by use of the approximate hull deflection curve. Generally an offset value of after stern tube bearing is a datum point with an fore stern tube bearing however the shaft alignment has a tendency which is able to get higher flexibility if the shafting system has the deflection value from after stern tube bearing as reference to bottom direction according to results of on this study. By applying this result of study, the shaft alignment for next similar ships will be able to estimate how to follow the hull deflection and how to be influenced by hull deflection at shaft alignment analysis state using the approximated hull deflection curve.

Bearing Estimation of Narrow Band Acoustic Signals Using Cardioid Beamforming Algorithm in Shallow Water

  • This paper suggests the Cardioid beamforming algorithm of the doublet sensors employing DIFAR (directional frequency analysis and recording) sensor signals in the frequency domain. The algorithm enables target bearing estimation using the signals from directional sensors. The algorithm verifies its applicability by successfully estimating bearings of a target projecting ten narrow-band signals in shallow water. The estimated bearings agree very well with those from GPS (global positioning system) data. Assuming the bearings from GPS data to be real values, the estimation errors are analyzed statistically. The histogram of estimation errors in each frequency have Gaussian shape, the mean and standard deviation dropping in the ranges -1.1°∼ 6.7°and 13.3∼43.6°, respectively. Estimation errors are caused by SNR (signal to noise ratio) degradation due to propagation loss between the source and receiver, daily fluctuating geo-magnetic fields, and non-stationary background noises. If multiple DIFAR systems are employed, in addition to bearing, range information could be estimated and finally localization or tracking of a target is possible.

  • 연약지반 개량공법의 하나인 쇄석기둥은 일반 연직배수공법에 주로 사용되는 모래재료 대신에 쇄석재료를 사용하며 배수 및 침하량 감소, 지지력 증대의 복합 효과에 의해 지반을 개량한다. 최근 들어 대규모 토목공사에 사용되는 건설재료로서 막대한 양이 소요되는 모래는 현재 수요는 급증하고 구득은 갈수록 어려워져 재료는 고갈상태에 이르고 있는 실정으로서 쇄석기둥공법의 적용이 더욱 늘어나고 있는 추세이다. 특히, 최근 들어 쇄석기둥의 지지력 보강효과를 이용하는 경향이 증가함에 따라 지지력 보강 예측이 중요한 관심사항으로 대두되었으나 아직까지 주변지반과 쇄석기둥 구조체의 상호 거동을 합리적으로 반영한 산정식이 제시되어있지 못한 상태이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 연약지반상에 조성된 쇄석기둥에 의한 개량효과중 지지력 증대효과를 규명하기 위해 쇄석기둥의 지지력 거동을 수치해석적으로 시뮬레이션하였다. 이렇게 함으로써 쇄석기둥이 설치되는 원지반의 물성과 쇄석기둥의 물성을 반영하면서 하중-침하거동을 파악하고자 하였다. 수치해석 시뮬레이션에 의한 지지력 거동을 원지반조건, 쇄석기둥 조건별로 분석하여 쇄석기둥의 지지력 거동식을 제안하고 제안된 지지력 예측방법과 거동을 계측한 실측치와의 검증을 실시하였다.

Estimation of Oil Quantity in Porous Bearing

  • Porous bearings are lubricated the oil that is contained in porous metal. Then they are always used with no oil supply, because of that, widely used electric motors. But, if oil flow out less than the limit, troubles often happen. This report shows that attempt of estimating oil quantity in porous bearing by using calculation that based Reynols' equation and Darcy's law, aimed of developing long life bearing. And comparing with experimental and calculation result, we show possibility of estimating rest oil quantity in porous bearing at steadry state by calculation.

  • MTG(Micro turbine generator) operating at 400,000 rpm is under development and the impact test rig to measure the dynamic stiffness and damping coefficient of air foil bearing for high speed rotor is presented in this study. The stiffness and damping coefficient of air foil bearing depending on the rotational speed can be measured easily and effectively by using the simple configuration of impact test rig which is composed of air gun, gap sensors and high speed motor. The estimation results of stiffness and dampling coefficient using least square estimation method is presented as well.

  • An automotive wheel bearing is one of the most important components to guarantee the service life of a passenger car. The endurance life of a bearing is affected by many parameters such as material properties, heat treatment, lubrication conditions, temperature, loading conditions, bearing geometry, internal clearance and so on. Generally, a tapered roller bearing gives longer endurance life than that of an equivalent size ball bearing. Consequently, the application of taper bearing units will be increased for more compact design and extended warranty. In this paper, we derive the relation between loads and deformations of a taper bearing unit. On the basis of that, we calculate the endurance life of the taper bearing unit considering initial axial clearance.

  • In order to extract bearing information from the directional sensors of DIFAR(directional frequency analysis and recording) that is a kind of passive sonobuoy, the cardioid beamforming algorithm applicable to DIFAR system was studied in the frequency domain. the algorithm uses narrow-band signals propagated though the media from the acoustic sources such as ship machineries. The proposed algorithm is expected to give signal to noise ratio of 6dB when it uses the maximum response axis(MRA) among the Cardioid beams. The estimated bearings agree very well with those from GPS data. Assuming the bearings from GPS data to be real values, the estimation errors are analyzed statistically.   • This paper proposed a preprocessing algorithm which is named Automatic Tracking Window (ATW), which eliminates the effects of noises at spatial signals and spurious peaks at high-resolution algorithm in bearing estimation algorithm. This method estimates spatial spectrum by periodogram algorisdthm and hihg-resolution algorithm after preprocessing of spatial signal by automatically tracked window.
