  • Objective: This study is aimed at developing Articulated Human Models(AHM) using superquadrics to improve the geometric accuracy of the body shape. Background: The previous work presents the AHM with geometrical simplification such as ellipsoids to improve analysis efficiency. However, because of the simplicity, their physical properties such as a center of mass and moment of inertia are computed with errors compared to their actual values. Method: This paper introduces a three steps method to present the AHM with superquadrics. First, a 3D whole body scan data are divided into 17 body segments according to body joints. Second, superquadric fitting is employed to minimize the Euclidean distance between body segments and superquadrics. Finally, Fee-Form Deformation is used to improve accuracy over superquadric fitting. Results: Our computational experiment shows that the superquadric models give better accuracy of dynamic analysis than that of ellipsoid ones. Conclusion: We generate the AHM composed of 17 superquadrics and 16 joints using superquadric fitting. Application: The AHM using superquadrics can be used as the base model for dynamics and ergonomics applications with better accuracy because it presents the human motion effectively.

  • The stability and control derivatives of DURUMI-lI UAV using the flight test are obtained. The flight test data is gathered from the normal flight condition (normal mode) and the flight condition assumed as the right elevator fixed (fault mode). Using real-time parameter estimation techniques, applied to Fourier transform regression method, simulates the aircraft motion. From the result, the fault of control surface is to be detected. In this paper, the results of the real- time parameter estimation techniques are compared with the results of the Advanced Aircraft Analysis (AAA). Using the aerodynamic derivatives, it provides the base line of normal/failure for the control surface by using the on-line parameter estimation of Fourier transform regression. In flight, this approach maybe helpful to detect and isolate the fault of primary control surface. It is explained how to perform the flight condition assumed as the right elevator fixed in the flight test. Also, it is mentioned how to switch between the normal flight condition and the assumed fault flight condition.

  • Currently, the growing cyber threat continues, the damage caused by the evolution of malicious code incidents become more bigger. Such advanced attacks as APT using 'zero-day vulnerability' bring easy way to steal sensitive data or personal information. However it has a lot of limitation that the traditional ways of defense like 'access control' with blocking of application ports or signature base detection mechanism. This study is suggesting a way of controlling application activities focusing on keeping integrity of applications, authorization to running programs and changes of files of operating system by hardening of legitimate resources and programs based on 'white-listing' technology which analysis applications' behavior and its usage.

  • The broadband noise can be dominant or important for total characteristics for marine propeller noise representing the minimum base of self-noise. Accurate prediction of such noise is crucial for survivability of underwater military vessels. While the FW-H Formulation 1B can be used to predict broadband trailing edge noise, the method required experiment measurements of surface pressure correlations, showing its limitations in generality. Therefore, in this study, the methods are developed to utilize wall pressure spectrum models to overcome those limitations. Chase model is adopted to represent surface pressure along with the developed formulations to reproduce pressure statistics. Newly developed method is validated with the experiments of airfoils at different velocities. Thereafter, with its feasibility and generality, the procedure incorporating computational fluid dynamics is established and performed for a propeller behind submarine hull. The results are compared with the experiments conducted at Large Cavitation Tunnel, thus showing its usability and robustness.

  • The thermal decomposition of waste energetic materials such as TNT, RDX and composition B in a commercial rotary kiln has previously been carried out. As part of the demilitarization process, the thermal decomposition of homogeneous double base propellant (DB) used in M8 and consisting predominantly of nitrocellulose and nitroglycerine is examined with respect to a number of operating conditions. A single condensed phase reaction with 4 species and 365 gas phase reactions and 59 species are considered. Simulation results show the sensitivity of the thermal decomposition of DB with temperature and velocity. At relatively low velocity with constant inlet hot air temperature, temperature in the rotary kiln was found to be highest, 953 K and 1300 K for cases 3 and 6 respectively. Illustrating that optimum operating temperature can be achieved by controlling the inlet velocity without additional cooling systems.

  • Mobile Collaboration is an enabling technology that makes users share information between mobile devices and various Mobile P2P platforms have been designed and implemented for it. There are, however, few research papers on application of SIP protocol to spatial data sharing on mobile devices. In this paper, SIP based real time sharing framework is proposed to compose a mobile P2P platform on which spatial data can be trans(erred. A new protocol based on WKT and WKB is defined to send and receive spatial objects with SIP MESSAGE method. Base maps such as digital maps and parcel maps can be provided by a map server that is integrated with SIP server after a new SIP session established and client agents are registered. The framework proposed based onSIP enables users to transfer spatial data such as maps and satellite images directly between mobile devices during VoIP based voice call and therefore, mobile applications can be applied in various domains such asforest management and national defense.

  • The necessity of transmitting video data over a narrow-bandwidth exists steadily despite that video service over broadband is common. In this paper, we propose a scalable video coding framework for low-resolution video transmission over a very narrow-bandwidth network by super-resolution of decoded frames of a base layer using a convolutional neural network based super resolution technique to improve the coding efficiency by using it as a prediction for the enhancement layer. In contrast to the conventional scalable high efficiency video coding (SHVC) standard, in which upscaling is performed with a fixed filter, we propose a scalable video coding framework that replaces the existing fixed up-scaling filter by using the trained convolutional neural network for super-resolution. For this, we proposed a neural network structure with skip connection and residual learning technique and trained it according to the application scenario of the video coding framework. For the application scenario where a video whose resolution is $352{\times}288$ and frame rate is 8fps is encoded at 110kbps, the quality of the proposed scalable video coding framework is higher than that of the SHVC framework.

  • In this paper, we present a new beamforming scheme for a downlink of multiuser multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) communication systems. Recently, a block-diagonalization (BD) algorithm has been proposed for the multiuser MIMO downlink where both a base station and each user have multiple antennas. However, the BD algorithm is not efficient when the number of supported streams per user is smaller than that of receive antennas. Since the BD method utilizes the space based on the channel matrix without considering the receive combining, the degree of freedom for beamforming cannot be fully exploited at the transmitter. In this paper, we optimize the receive beamforming vector under a zero forcing (ZF) constraint, where all inter-user interference is driven to zero. We propose an efficient algorithm to find the optimum receive vector by an iterative procedure. The proposed algorithm requires two phase values feedforward information for the receive combining vector. Also, we present another algorithm which needs only one phase value by using a decomposition of the complex general unitary matrix. Simulation results show that the proposed beamforming scheme outperforms the conventional BD algorithm in terms of error probability and obtains the diversity enhancement by utilizing the degree of freedom at the base station.

  • Recently, researches on DBRN(DataBase Referenced Navigation) system are being carried out to replace GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System), as weaknesses of GNSS were found that are caused by the intentional interference and the jamming of the satellite signal. This paper describes the gravity gradient modeling and the construction of EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) based GGRN(Gravity Gradient Referenced Navigation). To analyze the performance of GGRN, fourteen flight trajectories were made for simulations over whole South Korea. During the simulations, we considered the errors in both DB(DataBase) and sensor as well as the flight altitudes. Accurate performances were found, when errors in the DB and the sensor are small and they located at lower altitude. For comparative evaluation, the traditional TRN(Terrain Referenced Navigation) was also developed and performances were analyzed relative to those from the GGRN. In fact, most of GGRN performed better in low altitude, but both of precise gravity gradient DB and gradiometer were required to obtain similar level of precisions at the high altitude. In the future, additional tests and evaluations on the GGRN need to be performed to investigate on more factors such as DB resolution, flight speed, and the update rate.
