Purpose: The effect of accelerated aging on color stability of various dual-cured self-adhesive resin cements were evaluated in this study. Materials and Methods: Color stability was examined using three different brands of dual-cured self-adhesive resin cements: G-CEM LinkAce (GC America), MaxCem Elite (Kerr), and PermaCem 2.0 (DMG) with the equivalent color shade. Each resin cement was filled with Teflon mold which has 6 mm diameter and 2 mm thickness. Each specimen was light cured for 20 seconds using light emitting diode (LED) light curing unit. In order to evaluate the effect of accelerated aging on color stability, color parameters (Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage, CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$) and color differences (${\Delta}E^*$) were measured at three times: immediately, after 24 hours, and after thermocycling. The $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values were analyzed using Friedman test and ${\Delta}E^*$ values on the effect of 24 hours and accelerated aging were analyzed using t-test. These values were compared with the limit value of color difference (${\Delta}E^*=3.7$) for dental restoration. One-way ANOVA and Scheff's test (P<0.05) were performed to analyze each ${\Delta}E^*$ values between cements at each test period. Result: There was statistically significant difference in comparison of color specification ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$) values after accelerated aging except $L^*$ value of G-CEM LinkAce (P<0.05). After 24 hours, color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) values were ranged from 2.47 to 3.48 and $L^*$ values decreased and $b^*$ values increased in all types of cement and MaxCem Elite had high color stability (P<0.05). After thermocycling, color change's tendency of cement was varied and color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) values were ranged from 0.82 to 2.87 and G-CEM LinkAce had high color stability (P<0.05). Conclusion: Color stability of dual-cured self-adhesive resin cements after accelerated aging was evaluated and statistically significant color changes occurred within clinically acceptable range.
The apparent metabolisable energy (AME) and N-corrected ME (AMEn) of deoiled rice bran (DORB) were determined with adult quails at 6 and 10- week of age. The DORB obtained from two types of extraction process, Batch (DORB-B) and the Continuous (DORB-C), was each included in a practical type of the reference diet at 20 or 40% level. The analysed crude protein, ether extract, total ash, calcium, phosphorus, glucose and starch content of DORB-B and DORB-C were found at 19.0, 0.79, 17.05, 0.11, 1.92, 2.3, 11.22, and 15.02, 1.56, 13.0, 0.40, 2.76, 2.16, 19.0, respectively. The level of inclusion of DORB in diet appeared to exert a significant effect on the AME and AMEn values. When bioassayed at 20% inclusion level the DORB was found to have a significantly (p<0.01) lower value than that obtained at 40% inclusion level. However, no significant effect of age of quails on the AME values of DORB was evident. The ME bioassays with quails gave significantly (p<0.01) higher AME values for DORB-C than DORB-B thereby indicating that the continuous system of solvent extraction of rice bran is superior to the batch system from this point of view. The AME value of DORB predicted from its chemical composition also revealed that the DORB-C contained approximately 15% more energy than that in DORB-B.
This study was conducted to investigate the physicochemical and sensory changes of 6 kinds of commercial Makgeolli (A, B, C, D, E, and F) during storage at $4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 30 days. The initial pH was 3.50~4.23, but it increased to 3.65~4.37 by the end of the storage period (p<0.05) There were no significant differences in titratable acidity between the beginning and end of the storage period. The reducing sugar content of A and B increased, whereas C, D, E, and F decreased with increasing storage time. A decrease in lightness (L values) was observed in all samples with increasing storage time (p<0.05). The alcohol content increased from beginning values of 5.90~6.10% to ending values of 6.30~7.35% at the end of storage, of which sample B exhibited the highest value. A sensory evaluation test revealed that the overall acceptability of samples A, B, D, and E were still within acceptable limits, but samples C and F showed undesirable changes during 30 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$.

During two consecutive years, it was developed global calibrations for the prediction of fatty acids on Iberian pig fat. These equations should analyse well samples of that animal fat because of their high accuracy (SECV/sub C16:0/ = 0.26%; SECV/sub C18:0/ = 0.28%; SECV/sub C18:1/ = 0.26%; SECV/sub C18:2/ = 0.15%) and their broad covering composition range. In some cases, when new samples are predicted H (Mahalanobis distance) values higher than 3 (recommended value for agricultural products by the ISI software) are obtained. However, there are not any obvious factors which tells that samples scanned are very different to the spectral mean of the calibration population. Furthermore, these samples are well predicted according to the SEP values. The objective of the present work is to deepen the understanding of the H statistic when analysing animal fats. Three different validation files were predicted with equations obtained from January '97 to April '98. The Set A has spectra of 20 samples not included on the calibration file and scanned in May of 1998. The Set B has spectra of 20 samples included on the calibration file and scanned again in November '99. The Set C contains 150 spectra of one sample representative of the mean values (for fatty acids composition) of the calibration file. This sample was analysed three times per week during June '99 to July '00. The H mean values for the Set A, Set B and Set C were respectively 1.35, 14.39 and 11.71. These anomalous values for the Set B and C make not sense because Set B contains replicate subsamples of the same samples scanned during calibration development and Set C only contains spectra of one sample which represent the mean spectrum of the calibration files. Results will be shown to demonstrate that small day to day variations are responsible of the high H values. When a PCA and LIB file are created with calibration samples and spectra of the Set C modelling day to day variations, the H values for Set A, Set B and Set C were respectively 1.83, 2.16 and 0.93.
In this review, the terminology that is used to describe ileal amino acid (AA) digestibilities in piglet feed ingredients is defined. If one accepts that the determination of AA digestibilities should be based on the ileal analysis method, one should consider that ileal digesta contains variable amounts of endogenous crude protein (CP), which originates mainly from digestive secretions, sloughedoff epithelial cells and mucins. The ileal endogenous CP and AA losses are separated into basal ileal endogenous CP and AA losses ($IAAL_{B}$), which are not influenced by the feed ingredient composition, and specific ileal endogenous CP and AA losses ($IAAL_{S}$), which are induced by feed ingredient characteristics such as level and type of fiber and anti-nutritional factors (ANF). Depending how ileal endogenous CP and AA losses are considered in the measurement of CP and AA digestibilities, digestibility values are expressed as apparent (AID), standardized (SID), or true (TID) ileal digestibilities of CP and AA. The main concern associated with the use of AID values in diet formulation for pigs is that they are not additive in mixtures of feed ingredients. Consequently, the concept of standardized ileal CP and AA digestibilities was introduced by correcting AID values for basal ileal endogenous CP and AA losses ($IAAL_{B}$). The correction for both $IAAL_{B}$ and $IAAL_{S}$ yields TID values, however, routine procedures to measure $IAAL_{S}$ are not yet available. In principle, SID values should be preferred, because they represent the fundamental properties of the feed ingredient. There exist only few reports on SID of CP and AA in feedstuffs frequently used in piglet nutrition. These include soybeans (SB), soybean meal (SBM), soy proteins (SP), soy protein concentrate (SPC), soy protein isolate (SPI), corn gluten (CG), wheat gluten (WG), pea protein (PeaP), potato protein (PotP), fish meal (FM) and whey proteins (WP), but the results obtained are inconsistent. Differences in SID values within feed ingredients may, at least in part, be attributed to different processing conditions or inherent differences of the assay feed ingredients. Moreover, there is some evidence that the determination of SID values and $IAAL_{B}$ in piglets may be confounded by the dietary CP level of the assay diet, age and (or) body weight (BW), the level of feed intake or the methodological approach used to determine $IAAL_{B}$.
To develop the natural brown hair-dye, we investigated the dyeability of hairs dyed with the extracts of Boehmeria tricuspis and chemical hair-dye and the changes in its colors as affected by the number of washing frequencies. When dyed with the extracts of Boehmeria tricuspis, ${\Delta}E$ values was increased over 11 compared with control and dyed an order of descent YR. ${\Delta}E$ values treated the ashing juice of Japanese cleyera with a mordant was mostly increased about 15.52. Hairs was dyed with the extracts of Boehmeria tricuspis and we investigated L, a, b and ${\Delta}E$ values as affected by the number of washing frequencies. When treated the ashing juice of Japanese cleyera with a mordant, L values was mostly decreased, however, a, b and ${\Delta}E$ values was increased significantly. L values of hairs dyed with the extracts of Boehmeria tricuspis and washed over thirty times became low compared with that dyed with chemical hair-dye and changes in a, b and ${\Delta}E$values of that was small.
SCi-B-Vac, the 3rd hepatitis B vaccine , was selected for clinical evaluation on the basis of toxicologic profiles in preclinical studies. These studies were performed to obtain information on its toxic signs, organs which are mainly affected, and to estimate its lethality in mice and rats given Sci-B-Vac through two routes of administratin. In male and female rats given a single intragastrical dose of Sci-B-Vac, we estimated that $LD_{50}$ values were over 2.00 ml/100g B.W. (10ng/ml), respectively.

changes in HMF content, capsanthin content, Hunter tirstimulus values, color-preference, and pruchasing intent were investigated during storage of industry-produced kochujang packed with polyethylene and nylon complex film at 13, 27 and 37$^{\circ}C$. HMF content, which was very low at initial , did not showed significant increase during storage at 13$^{\circ}C$ for 180 days, but the accumulation of HMF was accelerated by higher temperature. Capsanthin content decreased more rapidly at higher temperature . L values decreased up to 60 days of storage and the storage temperature had little influence on the rate . But, after 60 days, L value decreased more slowly at 13 than at 27 and 37$^{\circ}C$ , a and b values showed linear decrease at 37$^{\circ}C$, but increase in a and b values at 13 and 27 $^{\circ}C$ during early storage was followed by decrease. ΔE decreased more rapidly at higher temperature . Color-preference and purchasing-intent for kochujang decreased during storage at 27 and 37 $^{\circ}C$, but did not show significant changes during storage at 13 $^{\circ}C$ for 180 days. L, and ΔE values of kochujang stored at 37 and 27Δ showed positive correlation with color-preference, but Hunter tristimulus values of Kochujang stored at 13$^{\circ}C$ did not show not any significant correlation with color preference.

This study was conducted to evaluate the contents of antioxidative components from pulpy and seed in wild haw (Crataegus pinnatifida $B_{UNGE}$). Pulpy and seed of haw were smashed, then measured for color properties, antioxidative components of ascorbic acid, phytic acid, proanthocyanidin, anthocyanin, total carotene, ${\beta}$-carotene, lycopene, chlorophyll a, b and tannin. The $a^*$, $b^*$ and $C^*$ values of seed were significantly lower than pulpy, but $L^*$ and $H^{\circ}$ values were higher than that of pulpy. Ascorbic acid contents of pulpy and seed were found to be $10.89{\pm}1.69mg/100g$ and $1.45{\pm}0.16mg/100g$, respectively. Phytic acid, proanthocyanidin, total carotene and tannin contents of pulpy and seed were $689.17{\pm}3.63mg/g$, $597.78{\pm}2.93mg/g$; $355.61{\pm}19.39mg/g$, $49.12{\pm}4.97mg/g$; $8.32{\pm}0.42mg%$, $0.80{\pm}0.01mg%$; $7.53{\pm}0.09mg/g$, $1.02{\pm}0.03mg/g$, respectively. Similarly, ${\beta}$-carotene, lycopene, chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b contents of pulpy also displayed higher values than that of seed. On the contrary, anthocyanin content of seed ($4.24{\pm}0.33mg/L$) was remarkably higher than pulpy ($0.99{\pm}0.62mg/L$). The results showed that pulpy could be severed as great natural antioxidant and biohealth functional food.
The cell cultures and crude extracts of Bacillus sphaericus 1593 K-5 and its mutant Spo-Dl216 were respectively bioassayed against Culex pipiens var. pollens mosquito larvae. The B. sphaeriucs 1593 K-5 showed toxic activity against the larvae. LC$_{50}$ values (cells/$m\ell$) was 2.6$\times$10$^2$. Also the LC$_{50}$ ($\mu\textrm{g}$ Protein/$m\ell$) of the crude extract was 10.26. However, B. sphaericus Spo-Dl216 didn't show toxic activity against the larvae. The soluble cytoplasmic toxin in broken B. sphaeriucs 1593k-5 cells was partially purified by gel permeation chromatography and ion exchange chromatography. Among the fractions of the gel permeation chromatography only a single fraction was found to be toxic. LC$_{50}$ values ($\mu\textrm{g}$ protein/$m\ell$) of the active fraction was 0.182. The active fraction of the gel permeation was subjected to ion exchange chromatography. Only a single fraction showed toxic activity and its LC$_{50}$ values ($\mu\textrm{g}$ protein/$m\ell$) was 0.02..02.
