In this paper, We report on the performance issues faced by TCP based applications on satellite link having long propagation delay and high probability of bit erros and propose ENA(Error Notification Ack) algorithm for TCP Performance Enhancement. TCP Protocol cannot distinguish errored segments(in noisy medium) from losses of genuine network congestion and react as if there is network congestion. Therefore, Slow Start and Congestion avoidance mechanism are initiated. It happen this case in satellite link. Therefore it reduce the transmission rate and drop the performance. So, in this paper We propose ENA algorithm which is distinguished errored segments from losses of network congestion. And We propose the method of algorithm's implementation. And We evaluate the Performance of Tahoe, Reno, Sack TCP with ENA. As results, TCP Performance is better.

This paper proposes the qualitative method for planning the operation of multi-AUVs with environmental disturbances, which is considered to be a very difficult task. In this paper we use an extension collision map as a collision free motion planner. The tool was originally developed for the multiple ground vehicles with no internal/external disturbance. In order to apply the method to a water environment where there are tides and waves, and currents, we analyze the path deviation error of AUVs caused by external disturbances. And we calculate safety margin for the collision avoidance on the extension collision map. Finally, the simulation result proves that the suggested method in this paper make multi-AUVs navigate to the goal point effectively with no collision among them.

Recently many studies have been done on the Random Early Detection(RED) algorithm as an active queue management and congestion avoidance scheme in the Internet. In this paper we first overview the characteristics of RED and the modified RED algorithms in order to understand the current status of these studies. Then we analyze the RED dynamics by investigating how RED parameters affect router queue behavior. We show the cases when RED fails since it cannot react to queue state changes aggressively due to the deterministic use of its parameters. Based on the RED parameter analysis, we propose a self-adaptive algorithm to cope with this RED weakness. In this algorithm we make two parameters be adjusted themselves depending on the queue states. One parameter is the maximum probability to drop or mark the packet at the congestion state. This parameter can be adjusted to react the long burst of traffic, consequently reducing the congestion disaster. The other parameter is the queue weight which is also adjusted aggressively in order for the average queue size to catch up with the current queue size when the queue moves from the congestion state to the stable state.

The USB-IF has specified a Wireless USB (WUSB) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, firstly, performance degradation due to the Private Distributed Reservation Protocol (DRP) conflict problem caused by devices' mobility is analyzed. And a novel relay transmission protocol combined with Private DRP conflict resolution is proposed to overcome the performance degradation at Private DRP conflicts. In order to give the loser device due to Private DRP conflicts another chance to maintain resources, the proposed relay transmission protocol executed at each device helps the loser device reserve another indirect link maintaining the required resources via a relay node.

Investigations of low-rice unbounded reinforced concrete shear walls with or without openings are performed with comparison of analytical and experimental results. Theoretical analysis is based on nonlinear finite element algorithm, which incorporates concrete failure criterion and nonlinear constitutive relationships. Studios focus on the effects of height-to-length ratio of shear walls, opening ratio, horizontal and vertical reinforcement radios, and diagonal reinforcement. Analytical solutions conform well with experimental results. Equations for cracking, yielding and ultimate loads with corresponding lateral displacements are derived by regression using analytical results and experimental data. Also, failure modes of low-rise unbounded shear walls are theoretically investigated. An explanation of change in failure mode is ascertained by comparing analytical results and ACI code equations. Shear-flexural failure can be obtained with additional flexural reinforcement to increase a wall's capacity. This concept leads to a design method of reducing flexural reinforcement in low-rise bounded solid shear wall's. Avoidance of shear failure as well as less reinforcement congestion leer these walls is expected.

In this study, we propose a decentralized mathematical model for predictive control of a system of multi-autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones. Being decentralized and autonomous implies that all members make their own decisions and fly depending on the dynamic information received from other unmanned aircraft in the area. We consider a variety of realistic characteristics, including time delay and communication locality. For this flocking flight, we do not possess control for central data processing or control over each UAV, as each UAV runs its collision avoidance algorithm by itself. The main contribution of this work is a mathematical model for stable group flight even in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heavy wind, rain, etc.) by adding Gaussian noise. Two of our proposed variance control algorithms are presented in this work. One is based on a simple biological imitation from statistical physical modeling, which mimics animal group behavior; the other is an algorithm for cooperatively tracking an object, which aligns the velocities of neighboring agents corresponding to each other. We demonstrate the stability of the control algorithm and its applicability in autonomous multi-drone systems using numerical simulations.

Recently many studies of Radar systems mounted on ground vehicles for autonomous driving, SLAM (Simultaneous localization and mapping) and collision avoidance are reported. In near field, several hits per an object are generated after signal processing of Radar data. Hence, clustering is an essential technique to estimate their shapes and positions precisely. This paper proposes a method of grouping hits in range-doppler domains into clusters which represent each object, according to the pre-defined rules. The rules are based on the perceptual cues to separate hits by object. The morphological connectedness between hits and the characteristics of SNR distribution of hits are adopted as the perceptual cues for clustering. In various simulations for the performance assessment, the proposed method yielded more effective performance than other techniques.

Aerospace Launch Vehicles (ALV) are generally designed with high reliability to operate in complete security through fault avoidance practices. However, in spite of such precaution, fault occurring is inevitable. Hence, there is a requirement for on-board fault recovery without significant degradation in the ALV performance. The present study develops an advanced fault recovery strategy to improve the reliability of an Aerospace Launch Vehicle (ALV) navigation system. The proposed strategy contains fault detection features and can reconfigure the system against common faults in the ALV navigation system. For this purpose, fault recovery system is constructed to detect and reconfigure normal navigation faults based on the sliding mode observer (SMO) theory. In the face of pitch channel sensor failure, the original gyro faults are reconstructed using SMO theory and by correcting the faulty measurement, the pitch-rate gyroscope output is constructed to provide fault tolerant navigation solution. The novel aspect of the paper is employing SMO as an online tuning of analytical fault recovery solution against unforeseen variations due to its hardware/software property. In this regard, a nonlinear model of the ALV is simulated using specific navigation failures and the results verified the feasibility of the proposed system. Simulation results and sensitivity analysis show that the proposed techniques can produce more effective estimation results than those of the previous techniques, against sensor failures.

This paper deals with a behavior based decentralized control strategy for UAV swarming utilizing the artificial potential functions and the sliding mode control technique. Individual interactions for swarming behavior are modeled using the artificial potential functions. The motion of individual UAV is directed toward the negative gradient of the combined potential. For tracking the reference trajectory of UAV swarming, a swarming center is considered as the object of control. The sliding-mode control technique is adopted to make the proposed swarm control strategy robust with respect to the system uncertainties and the varying mission environment. Numerical simulation is performed to verify the performance of the proposed controller.

This paper presents optimal design of controllable magnetorheological (MR) shock absorbers for passenger vehicle. In order to achieve this goal, two MR shock absorbers (one for front suspension; one for rear suspension) are designed using an optimization methodology based on design specifications for a commercial passenger vehicle. The optimization problem is to find optimal geometric dimensions of the magnetic circuits for the front and rear MR shock absorbers in order to improve the performance such as damping force as an objective function. The first order optimization method using commercial finite element method (FEM) software is adopted for the constrained optimization algorithm. After manufacturing the MR shock absorbers with optimally obtained design parameters, their field-dependent damping forces are experimentally evaluated and compared with those of conventional shock absorbers. In addition, vibration control performances of the full-vehicle installed with the proposed MR shock absorbers are evaluated under bump road condition and obstacle avoidance test.
