  • Today fiber composite materials are routinely used in such wide applications as ships automobiles aircraft space vehi-cles containers sporting goods and appliances. The current knowledge of machining glass fiber reinforced polyester com-posites unfortunately is inadequate for its optimum utilization in many applications. Therefore This paper deals with drilling characteristic of glass fiber reinforced polyester composites. In the drilling of glass fiber reinforced polyester the quality of the cut surfaces is strongly dependent on the drilling parameters. drilling tests were carried out on glass fiber reinforced polyester using standard HSS tools. The material containing random chopped strand fibers and woven roving was fabricated by hand lay-up The entrance and exit surface of the holes was examined.   • Recently, the uses of ceramic/metal bonded joints for structural materials have increased in various engineering fields such as automobiles, heat engines, and so on. A method of strength evaluation focussing on fracture criterion of mixed was investigated in Si3N4/metal bonded joint. Also, Fracture toughness tests of Si3N4/metal bonded joints with an interface crack were carried out and the stress intensity factors of these joints were analyzed by boundary element method. From the results, the fracture criterion and method of strength evaluation by the fracture toughness were proposed in Si3N4/metal bonded joints

해조류를 이용한 친환경 에너지소재 (Algae Based Energy Materials)

  • Recently, sea algae cultivation as carbon sink and carbon dioxide fixation have been considered. Also, various researches on bioenergy derived from sea algae and the utilization of fibers, saccharide, and lipid of sea algae have been performing. Till now, algae fibers has been used for manufacturing of paper and reinforcing of polymer composites and the extracts of sea algae are used for cosmetics, pharmaceutical materials and food such as agar. Especially, algae fiber has so similar properties to cellulose in terms of crystallinity and functional groups that it can be utilized as reinforcements of biocomposites. Biocomposites as alternatives of glass fiber reinforced polymer composites are environmentally friendly polymer composites reinforced with natural fibers and are actively applying to the automobiles and construction industries. In this paper, characteristics of algae fiber and biocomposites reinforced with algae fiber as environmentally friendly energy materials have been introduced.

  • A great deal of effort has been invested in upgrading the performance and the efficiency of dynamic analysis of mechanical structures. Using experimental modal analysis(EMA) or finite element analysis(FEA) data of mechanical structures, the performance and efficiency can be effectively evaluated. In order to analyze complex structures such as automobiles and aircrafts, for the sake of computing efficiency, the dynamic substructuring techniques that allow to predict the dynamic behavior of a structure are widely used. Through linking a modal model obtained from EMA and an analytical model obtained from FEA, the best conditioned strucutres can be proposed. In this study, a new algorithm of substructre synthesis method, Multi-FRF synthesis method, is proposed to analyze a structure composed of many substructures.

  • Waste tires are a significant problem with the increasing in number of automobiles. Therefore, many researches have been studied on this field. Recycling is the one of the popular method aspect to environmental and economical in the treatment methods of the waste tire, which loads that the reuse of scrap tire rubber has been a challenge in the past. However, it is not easy method to melt down and mold into new products because the in rubber is a cross-linked polymer. Most difficulty in recycling is the recycled product is not economic. Therefore, the goal of this study is to develop the high valuable products for reused waste tires. In this paper, we try to make an economic recycled technology using scrapped waste tires. This technology may applied for manufacturing the end products such as a rubber block and a ballast mat for high-speed train.

  • In this paper, we report the process/device design of high-speed, high-voltage SOI smart power IC for mobile communication system, high-speed HDD system and the electronic control system of automobiles. The high voltage LDMOS with 70V breakdown voltage under 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ design rule, the high voltage bipolar with 40V breakdown voltage for analog signal processing, the high speed bipolar with cut-off frequency over 20㎓ and LDD NMOS for high density were proposed and simulated on a single chip by the simulator DIOS and DESSIS. And we extracted the process/device parameters of the simulated devices.

  • In order to assess the reliability of the Tire Pressure Sensor for automobiles, accelerated life test model and procedure are developed. By using this method, failure mechanism and life distribution are analyzed. The main results are as follows; i) the main failure mechanism is degradation failure that is, PCB destruction and battery Discharge by high temperature. ii) the life distribution of the Tire Pressure Sensor fitted well to Weibull life distribution and the accelerated life model of that is fitted well to Arrhenius model. iii) at the result of the life distribution, accelerated life test method is developed

  • Automobile markets are so fierce in the world market that every major manufacturer assure the buyer of the car by give a provocative warranty plan for their cars. For instance Hyundai motor company offer 10 years and 100,000 miles of warranty whichever comes first. But in order for this effort to be successful every critical component such as window switch has to be proven to be reliable in an adverse environment. Therefore, in this article reliability assessment criteria for window switch are established in terms of basic performance test, environment test and life test.

The Effect of Changing Driving Brightness on Older Drivers

  • The traffic accidents of the aged are increasing because old people generally experience a decline of physical functions and judgment but their dependence on automobiles increases. In order to investigate the older drivers' response to traffic signs and surrounding environment according to changing driving brightness, this study measured the visual cognitive behavior, driving behavior, and subjective evaluation while the driving brightness was changed using a driving simulator. Furthermore, the drivers who recognized traffic signs and those who did not were compared. As a result, it was found that some older drivers had declined ability of cognition, some failed to adapt to rapid brightness change even if sufficient attention was given to traffic sign, and some could not safely control the vehicle when approaching intersections. Therefore, the development of support systems for aged drivers in traffic environment is necessary in the future.

  • MCU(Micro Controller Unit) used for the automobiles has been required for improving of the safety and high reliability. Also, the necessity of high performance MCU equipped with high fuel-efficiency has been risen according to increased requests of high fuel-efficiency and improving the occupants safety with the development of intelligent vehicles and future vehicles. The MPC5554 32-bit embedded controller, made by Freescale Semiconductor, specialized in the part of the power train provides the high reliability, fast interrupt process and real-time control. In This paper, the investigation on IPMSM using MPC5554 has been performed. Also SVPWM(Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation) is implemented to the servo system.
