  • An extension of the one-cycle control (OCC) method for switched-capacitor (SC) converters is proposed in this paper, featuring a fast dynamic response, wide line and load operation ranges, and simplicity in implementation. To illustrate the operation principle of this nonlinear control method and to demonstrate its simplicity in design, a dual-phase unity gain SC converter is examined. A new control loop based on the charge balance in a flying capacitor is formulated for the OCC technique and implemented with a 15W dual-phase unity gain SC converter on a circuit board for control verification. The obtained experimental results show that external disturbances can be rejected in one switching cycle by the OCC controlled SC converter with good line and load regulations. When compared to other control methods, the proposed nonlinear control loop exhibits superior dynamic performance in suppressing input and load disturbances.

  • As many systems depend on electronics, concern for fault tolerance is growing rapidly. For example, a car with its steering controlled by electronics and no mechanical linkage from steering wheel to front tires (steer-by-wire) should be fault tolerant because a failure can come without any warning and its effect is devastating. In order to make system fault tolerant, there has been a body of research mainly from aerospace field. This paper presents the structure of predictive hybrid redundancy that can remove most erroneous values. In addition, several numerical simulation results are given where the predictive hybrid redundancy outperforms wellknown average and median voters.

  • A non-fragile guaranteed cost control (GCC) problem is presented for a class of discrete time-delay nonlinear systems described by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The systems are assumed to have norm-bounded time-varying uncertainties in the matrices of state, delayed state and control gains. Sufficient conditions are first obtained which guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and the closed-loop cost function value is not more than a specified upper bound. Then the design method of the non-fragile guaranteed cost controller is formulated in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • This paper is concerned with automation of tower cranes in view of the robust control of tower crane during take-off, load hoisting, load lowering and landing. The model equation of the tower crane is induced by using Lagrange's equation and it is linearized at equillibrium point. The control is realized by adopting the optimal regulator method. The effectiveness is proved through the experimental results for the oscillation control of cargo rope and the position controls of trolley and boom by the implementation of digital control using 16 bits microcomputer for the designed optimal control law.

  • Automation tools for program analysis are needed in order to program understand and maintain, extract the characteristics of object-oriented program such as class name, member function and data member. In this paper, we carried out design and implementation of the automation tool for effective maintenance of object-oriented software. Being based on Reverse Engineering, this approach extracts class relationship information from C++ source code and generates object-oriented model of class diagram using UML as the standard object-oriented methodology. Therefore, this paper provides developers visualized including class information, definitions of classes, inheritance relationships, set relationships, and simple reference relationships. Finally in this paper, we propose a method that construct class relationship information to table in analysis state and make form of table construction to link form so tat developers can perform understanding and maintaining program efficiently. And this method enable to restructure and reuse in object-oriented model.

  • Dead-time element must be set into space vector pulsed width modulation signals to avoid short circuits of the inverter. However, the dead-time element distorts the output voltage vector, which deteriorates the performance of electrical machine drive system. In this paper, dead-time effect and its compensation control strategy are analyzed. Based on the analysis, the voltage distortion caused by dead-time is regarded as two disturbances imposed on dq axes in the rotor reference frame, which degenerates the current tracking performance. To inhibit the adverse effect caused by the dead-time, a control scheme using two linear extended state observers is proposed. This method provides a strong ability to suppress dead-time effects. Simulations and experiments are conducted on a permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The operation of RC(Rod Consolidation) technology carry out highly radiation environment. It requires remote operation and automation for efficient handling and for minimizing radiation exposure to the operator. So we investigated up and down position control of shock absorber device in RC system. To verify the research experimentally, a RC system was set up and PI control method was applied. Fuzzy control method was also tested to further improve control behavior.

  • We examine the rate of substitution of jobs by artificial intelligence using a score called the "weighted ability rate of substitution (WARS)." WARS is a indicator that represents each job's potential for substitution by automation and digitalization. Since the conventional WARS is sensitive to the particular responses from the employees, we consider a robust version of the indicator. In this paper, we propose the individualized WARS, which is a modification of the conventional WARS, and compute robust averages and confidence intervals for inference. In addition, we use the clustering method to statistically classify jobs according to the proposed individualized WARS. The proposed method is applied to Korean job data, and proposed WARS are computed for five future years. Also, we observe that 747 jobs are well-clustered according to the substitution levels.

  • This paper presents a method of grinding and polishing automation of precision die after CNC machining. The method employs a robot system equipped with a pneumatic spindle and a special abrasive film pad. The robot program is automatically generated off-line program form a PC and downloaded to robot controller. Position and orientation data for the program is supplied form cutter contact (CC) data of NC machining process. This eliminates separate robot teaching process. This paper aims at practical automation of die finishing process which is very time consuming and suffering from shortage of workpeople. Time loss due to changeover from one product to another is eliminated by PC off-line programming exploiting appropriate NC machining data. Dextrous 6-axis robot with rigid wrist and simple tooling enables the process applicable to larger, rather complex 3 dimensional free surfaces.
