A Study on the Market Segmentation Approach by the Use of Fashion Information Sources (패션 정보원 활용에 따른 시장세분화에 관한 연구)

  • In the area of fashion business, market segmentation strategy has been paid attention for the purpose of assigning proficiently marketing resources. The use of fashion information in purchase decision process can serve as a base for market segmentation strategies. The purpose of this study was to identify four segmented profiles which are labelled as Print-oriented, Audio-visual oriented, Store intensive, and Pal advice group. Objectives were to determine fashion interest, fashion attitude and apparel selection criteria from each segment. For this study, the questionnaire was adminisered to 261 teachers and data were analyzed by using ANOVA, Regression and Pearson's Correlations. The results were as follows. 1. Print-oriented group had a positive attitude about fashion and they tended to place value on aesthetic and other-oriented criteria in selecting apparel. 2. Audio-visual oriented group had a strongly positive attitude about fashion but they tended to be less active toward buying fashion products and place much more value on other-oriented criteria in selecting apparel. 3. Store intensive group tended to be active toward buying fashion products. They had a positive attitude about fashion and placed value on aesthetic criteria in selecting apparel. 4. Pal advice group had a less positive attitude about fashion and tended to place value on economical and practical criteria in selecting apparel. Based on the profile of the each segment, it was suggested to express lingual or non-lingual symbols and to create concepts for meeting the needs of the segment

  • In this paper, we propose an architecture of multimedia communication terminal that can e used in broadband ISDN environments. To design and implement the multimedia communication terminal, we analyzed the structure of multimedia terminals and the types of services which is recommended by public and private standard or ganization, such as ITU-T, Digital Audio-Visual Council(davic) and ATM Forum. The multifunctional communication terminal designed in this paper could allow inter-working between existing communication terminals on the heterogeneousnetwork and accept current and advanced multimedia communication application flexible. An implemented terminal is consisted of the multimedia processing board and the ATm interface board that is installed in PCI bus on personal computer. The integrated service multimedia communication terminal that is implemented supports retrieval, distributive and conversational communication service simultaneously. And then we performaned functional module test according to the individual communication services.

  • Demands for developing diverse teaching methods and materials which can lead to active participation of students in classes have been emerged for environmental education in secondary schools. In order for more effective environmental education, a variety of programs in the mass media including public broadcasting have been used. Advantages associated with the broadcasted TV programs include compensation of temporal and spatial limits embedded with the printing media, improvement of studying efficiency, and provision of diverse studying opportunities, leading to the promotion of the awareness of environmental issues. In this study, 256 environmental issues related TV programs being aired via major public broadcasting companies such as EBS, KBS, MBC and SBS between years of 2003 and 2004 were analyzed. During the present research, selection of the programs was made based on the weight of the environmental issues in independent programs being aired for at least 10 minutes. A survey as a primary means was carried out for the utilization of the audio-visual educational materials in order to provide a new method employing the TV programs which were related to the environmental issues during the instruction in secondary schools.

  • One of the most active areas of research in the field of affective computing and signal processing is emotion recognition. This paper proposes emotion recognition of low-resource (Sindhi) language. This work's uniqueness is that it examines the emotions of languages for which there is currently no publicly accessible dataset. The proposed effort has provided a dataset named MAVDESS (Mehran Audio-Visual Dataset Mehran Audio-Visual Database of Emotional Speech in Sindhi) for the academic community of a significant Sindhi language that is mainly spoken in Pakistan; however, no generic data for such languages is accessible in machine learning except few. Furthermore, the analysis of various emotions of Sindhi language in MAVDESS has been carried out to annotate the emotions using line features such as pitch, volume, and base, as well as toolkits such as OpenSmile, Scikit-Learn, and some important classification schemes such as LR, SVC, DT, and KNN, which will be further classified and computed to the machine via Python language for training a machine. Intelligibility Enhancement of Multimedia Contents Using Spectral Shaping (스펙트럼 성형기법을 이용한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠의 명료도 향상)

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligibility enhancement algorithm for multimedia contents using spectral shaping. The dialogue signals is essential to understand the plot of audio-visual media contents such as movie and TV. However, the non-dialogue components as like sound effects and background music often degrade the dialogue clarity. To overcome this problem, this paper tries to improves the dialogue clarity of audio soundtracks which contain important cues for the visual scenes. In the proposed method, the dialogue components are first detected by soft masker based on speech presence probability (SPP) which is widely used in speech enhancement field. Then, extracted dialogue signals are applied to the spectral shaping method. It reallocate the spectral-temporal energy of speech to enhanced the intelligibility. The total energy is maintained as unchanged via a loudness normalization process to prevent saturation. The algorithm was evaluated using the modeled and real movie soundtracks and it was shown that the proposed algorithm enhances the dialogue clarity while preserving the total audio power.

  • Huge amounts of contents are being uploaded every day on various streaming platforms. Among those videos, game and sports videos account for a great portion. The broadcasting companies sometimes create and provide highlight videos. However, these tasks are time-consuming and costly. In this paper, we propose models that automatically predict highlights in games and sports matches. While most previous approaches use visual information exclusively, our models use both audio and visual information, and present a way to understand short term and long term flows of videos. We also describe models that combine GAN to find better highlight features. The proposed models are evaluated on e-sports and baseball videos.

Learners' Perceptions toward Non-speech Sounds Designed in e-Learning Contents (이러닝 콘텐츠에서 비음성 사운드에 대한 학습자 인식 분석)

  • Although e-Learning contents contain audio materials as well as visual materials, research on the design of audio materials has been focused on visual design. If it is considered that non-speech sounds which are a type of audio materials can promptly provide feedbacks of learners' responses and guide learners' learning process, the systemic design of non-speech sounds is needed. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the learners' perceptions toward non-speech sounds contained the e-Learning contents with multidimensional scaling method. For this purpose, the eleven non-speech sounds were selected among non-speech sounds designed Korea Open Courseware. The 66 juniors in A university responded the degree of similarity among 11 non-speech sounds and the learners' perceptions towards non-speech sounds were represented in the multidimensional space. The result shows that learners perceive separately non-speech sounds by the length of non-speech sounds and the atmosphere which is positive or negative.

  • In recent years, the need to simultaneously transmit a variety of signals, such as DVI(Digital Visual Interface), audio, video, USB(Universal Serial Bus), LAN from the computer is required. So the cable complexity and scalability issues have been raised. In this paper, this signal can be distributed using a single USB cable, computer, video, audio, USB, LAN, one USB multi-signal transmission system was designed and implemented. USB multi-signal transmission was implemented in order to convert a single DVI, audio, and multiple USB, LAN, USB signal converter modules. This USB DVI port supports up to 1920 * 1080 resolution. USB multi-signal transmission system by sending multiple signals into a single cable installation costs of the various cable and using the replication feature of the screen, will provide schools and institutes, etc., providing the convenience of the river, and the scalability of computer peripheral ports.

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which makes a human being feel as if the one drives a vehicle actually. The driving simulator is effectively used for studying interaction of a driver-vehicle and developing the vehicle system of new concepts. The driving simulator consists of a motion platform, a motion controller, a visual and audio system, a vehicle dynamic analysis system, a vehicle operation system and etc. The vehicle dynamic analysis system supervises overall operation of the simulator and also simulates dynamic motion of a multi-body vehicle model in real-time. In this paper, the main procedures to develop the driving simulator are classified by 4 parts. MPEG-4 BIFS Optimization for Interactive T-DMB Content (지상파 DMB 컨텐츠의 MPEG-4 BIFS 최적화 기법)

  • The Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) system is developed to offer high quality multimedia content to the mobile environment. The system adopts the MPEG-4 standard for the main video, audio and other media format. For providing interactive contents, it also adopts the MPEG-4 scene description that refers to the spatio-temporal specifications and behaviors of individual objects. With more interactive contents, the scene description also needs higher bitrate. However, the bandwidth for allocating meta data, such as scene description is restrictive in the mobile environment. On one hand, the DMB terminal renders each media stream according to the scene description. Thus the binary format for scene(BIFS) stream corresponding to the scene description should be decoded and parsed in advance when presenting media data. With this reasoning, the transmission delay of the BIFS stream would cause the delay in transmitting whole audio-visual scene presentations, although the audio or video streams are encoded in very low bitrate. This paper presents the effective optimization technique in adapting the BIFS stream into the expected bitrate without any waste in bandwidth and avoiding transmission delays inthe initial scene description for interactive DMB content.
