The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude of housewives towards the elderly people. Three hundred and eighty-one housewives were selected, and a set of questionnaire was used to collect data. The Instrument for this study consisted of 20 item semantic differential format. The results are as follows: Housewives hold a slightly negative attitude towards the old. The main reasons for that were significantly different according to their educational level, religion, economic level, and marital satisfaction. By using a cluster analysis, the housewives could be divided into four groups. Among them, a group with positive attitudes towards the old had an experience living with parents. Based on the results of this study, it is revealed that the data on the attitudes of housewives towards the elderly will offer valuable information in developing education programs to change their negative attitudes.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore nursing students' attitudes towards sexually active elderly, and to compare their attitudes with those of non-nursing students. Methods: Study subjects consisted of 118 nursing students, and 134 non-nursing students, recruited from two universities. The data were collected from September to November 2001. Vignettes, which presented hypothetical situations of sexual activities of the elderly (65 years of age, 80 years of age/sexual activity mentioned. non-mentioned), were provided as a research method, as well as the use of a structured questionnaire. Vignettes showed the hypothetical situations by male elder's sexual activity and their age. Respondents were asked to address their thoughts in the questionnaire. Results: 1. Nursing students showed more favorable attitudes toward the elderly than non-nursing students, regardless of the presence of sexual activity of the elderly. 2. No significant difference was found in nursing students' attitudes toward the elderly aged 65 and 80 years, between those who were sexually active and those who were not. These results were the same in non-nursing students. 3. Nursing students showed more favorable attitudes toward the sexually active elders aged 65 years (5.6 1.43), than toward sexually active elders aged 80 years (4.89 1.55). This result was also the same in non-nursing students. 4. The variables significantly affecting attitudes toward the sexually active elderly in nursing students were familiarity with old persons (p=. 02), presence of living grandparents (p=. 05), and the experience of caring for old people (p=. 01). However, in non-nursing students, familiarity with old people was the only significant variable that affected their attitudes toward the sexually active elderly. 5. In nursing students, one variable to predict attitudes toward the sexually active elderly was the experience of caring for old people (p=. 03), accounting for 10% of the total variance. In non-nursing students, familiarity with old people was the only variable to attitudes toward the sexually active elderly (p=. 03), accounting for 3% of the variance for attitude. In both student groups, the variables that predicted attitudes toward the sexually active elderly included college major (p=. 03), school year (p=. 01), familiarity with old people (p=. 02), accounting for 12% of the variance for attitude by these variables. conclusion: Nursing students showed more favorable attitudes toward the sexual activity of elders 65 years of age or over, than non-nursing students. However, both the nursing and non-nursing students showed negative attitudes toward the elderly who were 80 years of age when compared with those 65 years of age. There should be a consideration in nursing education curriculums that university students may have negative attitudes towards sexual activity of the elderly over 80 years of age.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between nursing students' level of knowledge of and attitude toward the elderly and their behavior towards the elderly. Methods: For this study, 223 nursing students participated. The data was analyzed with PASW statistics program version 18.0 using descriptive statistics, a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results: The findings of the study displayed a score of 14.5 out of 25 for the level of knowledge of the elderly, a score of 3.9 out of 7 on the attitude toward the elderly, and 1.3 points on a 4-point scale on behavior towards the elderly. There was a positive correlation (r=.410, p<.001) between attitude and behavior towards the elderly, thus confirming that attitude towards the elderly influences behavior towards them. Conclusion: The most influential variable on the behavior towards the elderly emerged to be attitude. Thus, although knowledge and attitude cannot be neglected in manifesting positive behaviors in nursing students when they care for the elderly, knowledge training and elderly nursing practical sessions need to take place in order to strengthen attitude, which displayed a positive correlation with behavior.
The purpose of this study is to understand the elderly's attitudes toward dating and remarriage, as well as how they are influenced by their relationships with their children, and to categorize the attitudes toward dating and remarriage, and examine each type's characteristics. The results are as follows: 1. Widowed elderly were positive towards dating and remarriage, and were more positive towards dating than towards remarriage. 2. The influence of the relationships with the elderly's children was bigger on remarriage than on dating. 3. Among the typology of attitudes, 'pro-dating/anti-remarriage' group had the most participants, and 'anti-dating/anti-remarriage' group had the least participants. 4. It is worth noting that 'anti-dating/pro-remarriage' group had distinctly different characteristics compared to 'pro-dating/anti-remarriage' group, as was with "pro-dating/pro-remarriage" group and 'anti-dating/anti-remarriage' group. To elaborate, those who belonged to 'anti-dating/pro-remarriage' group were younger, mostly male, relatively highly educated, had weaker emotional ties with children, and got the least help. In contrast, the members of 'pro-dating/anti-remarriage' group were older, overwhelmingly female, and vast majority of them were lowly educated. Also, they had stronger emotional ties with the children, and got the most help. 'Anti-dating/anti-remarriage' group and 'pro-dating/pro-remarriage' group showed a contrast in the intensity of emotional ties with their children. The former was the strongest in emotional ties, and got a considerable amount of help, while the latter was weaker in emotional ties and got less help.
To provide a satisfactory life for the elderly females who are the most impoverished among the elderly social strata, this study is geared towards, and focused on, the exploration on their attitudes towards death. For the purpose of this study, in-depth interviews with females aged 65 and over, who are officially classified as the beneficiary of national fundamental livelihood security, have been conducted. Then, the results from these interviews have been compiled and analyzed through qualitative research methods. As a result of this research, the attitudes of the destitute elderly females towards death are categorized into several themes, such as 'Feeling close to the death through a hard life', 'Positive acceptance of the death', 'Relying on funeral services from government and religious organization', 'Hoping for a death with dignity'. The attitudes of death means to them that 'they can get out of a hard life', and elderly female beneficiaries were positive in their acceptance of this meaning. Those who could obtain funeral services as a part of assistance from government and a religious organization did not feel stressful about their funeral arrangements. However, there were individuals who didn't know if their funeral services would be covered by the government. They were unsure if a funeral service would be held for them, or they would have nobody to hold a funeral for them. Accordingly, they were worried about that. The poor elderly females were unhealthy and indigent, and so, they had death anxiety. Therefore, based on the study results above, some ideas regarding elderly welfare are proposed to enable poor elderly females to face their deaths with dignity.
Purpose: This study was investigated the knowledge, attitudes, and educational needs of nursing students regarding the sexuality of elderly individuals. Methods: This was a descriptive study. Data were collected from April $1^{st}$ to $22^{nd}$, 2016. One hundred ninety-three nursing students in Daejeon city and Chungcheongnam-do were surveyed. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Results: Mean scores on the knowledge, attitudes, and educational needs measures were 15.74/29, 28.45/40, and 36.67/50 respectively. There were significantly differences in major variables according to needs for sexual education of the elderly. There were also significant differences in knowledge and educational needs depending on students' age and year in school. Higher levels of knowledge of sexuality were significantly correlated with more positive attitudes and higher educational needs. Positive attitudes were also correlated with higher educational needs. Conclusion: Nursing students showed a low level of knowledge and poor attitudes towards sexuality in the elderly. This suggests that there is a need for education on the sexuality of the elderly in the nursing curriculum. This education would guide nursing students to obtain correct knowledge and positive attitudes so that they would be able to provide effective and appropriate sexuality care for elderly patients.
Objectives: In an aging society, the demand for dental medical institutions among the elderly is increasing. There will be an increased demand for high-quality oral health services. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing attitudes toward the elderly of Generation Z dental hygiene students. Methods: The participants in this study were 198 dental hygiene students. The survey was conducted from June 1 to 30, 2020, using a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of knowledge (24 items), attitude (20 items), and experience (11 items) of the elderly. The collection data were compared and analyzed using analysis of variance and multiple regression. Results: Factors influencing attitudes toward the elderly of dental hygiene students appeared positive in those with a lot of experience and higher knowledge of social area, in case of one grade. However, the attitude toward the elderly appears negative in those with a low knowledge of physical area. Conclusions: In order to improve Generation Z dental hygiene students' attitudes towards the elderly, it is necessary to develop a course related to the elderly and a program related to high-quality elderly contact experience opportunities. Socially, it is necessary to promote healthy elderly life through internet broadcasting and YouTube.
The purpose of this study is to classify the characteristic and conduct a typological analysis of college students' attitudes toward remarriage by the elderly, employing Q-methodology. The results are as follows: College students strongly supported the opinion that remarriage relieves the elderly of loneliness, and that familial support is crucial for the remarriage to happen. They also rejected of the idea that the elderly would feel ashamed to remarry. Students' attitudes towards the elderly's remarriage fell into three classifications: the progressively accepting type, the realistically accepting type, and the conservatively accepting type. Type 1, "progressively accepting type" enthusiastically accepts and supports the elderly's remarriage as a progressive and emotive relationship. The "realistically accepting type" holds the opinion that remarriage in later life is based on overcoming loneliness or satisfying attachment need rather than love. This typology believes that the elderly would not be equal as spouses, and would not be overly distressed by public perception. The type 3, "conservatively accepting type" believes that remarriage would be likely to strain the elderly's relationship with other family members, that it will not be the beginning of a new independent life, but are generally accepting of the idea of remarriage in later life.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of knowledge, perception, and attitude towards cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) among the elderly, as well as factors influencing attitudes towards CPR, in order to provide basic data for the development of CPR education programs targeting the elderly. The study subjects were 234 elderly individuals, and data were collected from August 11 to December 3, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study showed that the average scores for knowledge of CPR among the elderly were 6.39±3.23 points, perception was 2.02±0.51 points, and attitude was 1.84±0.52 points. The factor with the greatest influence on CPR attitude was found to be perception of CPR (β=.60, p<.001). Therefore, in order to improve attitudes towards CPR among the elderly, it is necessary to develop new educational programs that can change perceptions of CPR and provide continuous education.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of sex education, focusing on the sexual activities of the elderly, on high school girls' sexual knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions. Methods: A quasi-experimental pre-post design was used, and the data of 82 participants (41 in each group) were analyzed. The educational effects were assessed through sexual knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions. The data were analyzed through SPSS 18.0, using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and paired t-tests. Results: The experimental and control groups had similar demographics. Sex education was effective in increasing sexual knowledge (p<.001), and changing the attitudes (p<.001) and perceptions (p<.001) of members of the experimental group for the better. Conclusions: This study has shown that sex education can improve high school girls' understanding of elderly sexual activities. This study is meaningful in that, it sought to facilitate a positive change in young people's attitudes towards elderly sexuality and quality of life.
