  • The purpose of this paper is to provide the basic information concerning school health nursing activities in schools lacking in a school nurse, and the degree of satisfaction of trainess to the training course of school health nursing. The data for this study were collected by means of questionnaire from 150 teachers(100 of primary school and 50 of middle school)who attended the training course superintended by the Board of Education of Kyeong Nam Province from July 27 to August 6 in 1987. The main results of this study can be summarized as following; 1. General characteristics of the trainees: The majority of the trainees (71.3%) were in the age of twenties, 86.5% graduated from four-year teachers' college, 63.5% had less than five-year experience as a teacher. 2. 60.5% of the trainees were actually offering school health nursing services. 67.8% decided voluntarily to participate in the training course, and 62.7% attended the course for the purpose of obtaining health knowledge. 3. Only 4.2% of schools established appropriate health organization, and 34.5% were equipped with nursing clinic. But the main reason school health nursing activities were not performed very well was the insufficient supply of needed medicines and related materials. 4. School health nursing services in schools lacking in a school nurse were offered mainly by the teacher holding additional job of school health. class teacher and atheletic teacher. But the sanitary management for school meal services and community health activities were not carried out at all in many schools. 5. As a whole, trainees were satisfied with training program. But some subjects of the course did not satisfy them because those ones were so theoretical without any practice. 6. Many trainees wished the training course to be more concentrated on case studies which are helpful to solve actual problems. 7. 75% of trainees answered to have decided to perform school health nursing activities more actively than before. 8. Any significant relationship can not be found between trainees' general characteristics and their attitude to school health nursing activities after the training course. Only one factor-motivation to attend the training course-had the statistical significance of 8.7%.

  • For this study, the 'Game Activities' lessons presented in the math textbooks from the 1st grade to the 6th were examined in terms of learning materials, the learning members' make-up, the playing structures, and the relation with the contents. In addition, the survey by means of questionnaires was conducted to analyze the actual condition of teachers' guidance in the field. The findings from this research were as follows: First, as for the activities presented in the textbooks, it turned out that too much emphasis is placed upon plays mainly using learning materials such as cards and dice played by teams of two. In addition, there have been shown negative aspects in various ways of plays putting too much emphasis on certain types of plays such as and structures. As for the relation with the contents, although lots of efforts were taken to connect the playing activity to the lesson contents, there were units presenting plays based on the preceding lesson's repeated activity, ones that have weak link with the contents. Second, it turned out that the teachers had negative attitude on the guidance using the 'Game Activities' lesson, although they were aware of the effects of playing in math learning. This seemed to result from the delicate variety and insufficient preparation for the play. Besides, the findings indicate that the appreciation and activity of the 'Game Activities' lesson presented as a way of performance evaluation. for play need to be provided in school or classrooms for teachers and students to make good use of them.

  • It was essential to develop the DB-type teaching and teaming material for geography instruction using a method of ICT. The DB-type teaching and learning material was considered as a alternative in solving the problems of web-based geography instruction. Accordingly, in this study, the geography image DB program as developed, and based on this program the CD-ROM called GEO-DB, having the function of electronic dictionary of geography image for geography teaching and teaming was made. The GEO-DB was composed of 3,060 geography images collected by teachers and learners. The GEO-DB was made to be used simply by teachers and learners. Especially, the portfolio function was Included in the GEO-DB, and that was focused to the instructional system design of teacher and the self-directed teaming ability development of learner. Teachers and learners using this GEO-DB assessed that because the GEO-DB had the easiness of use, the speed of reference and the unlimitedness of extension, it could enlarge the possibility of using a method of In, and it could contribute to the development of geography teaming ability and the change of geography teaming attitude.

  • This study aimed to examine how prospective mathematics teachers (PMTs) perceive collaborative problem-posing (CPP) as a method to cultivate students' creativity and character in mathematics education. This is to propose the introduction of CPP at the stage of preparatory math teacher education as one of the ways to reinforce the creativity and character education capacity of PMT), and to attempt to be an opportunity to actively utilize CPP in math teaching-learning in the school field for the education of students' creativity and character. To achieve this objective, I designed PMTs taking the 'Educational Theories for Teaching Mathematics' course, required in the second year of university, to experience CPP tasks. Data were collected through questionnaires or interviews over three years on how PMTs recognized the CPP tasks as a tool to cultivate students' creativity and character in secondary schools. The results of the study are as follows. First, PMTs recognized regardless of their CPP experience that CPP might have a positive impact on improving students' ability to devise various ideas and that it positively influences students' attitudes toward building interpersonal relationships, including teamwork, respect, and consideration. Second, the experience of PMTs participating in the CPP made them more positively aware that CPP is effective in improving students' ability to elaborate on ideas. Third, the PMTs' experience of participating in CPP led to a more positive perception of the impact of CPP on the students' abilities and attitudes, namely, the students' ability to elaborate on ideas and their inner attitudes toward individuals, including honesty, fairness, and responsibility, and the attitude of students regarding logically presenting their opinions and making rational decisions. Finally, if there are downsides to the offline environment, an online environment may be more beneficial.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the Learning elements in 'Curriculum Reconstruction' of Elementary Pre-service Teachers in Connection with 'The weather and our daily life'. The pre-service teachers who participated in the study formed a research group of 29 students in 2nd grade who are attending the first semester of A university of education and taking courses in 'teaching research 1'. Participants described the learning topics and contents they would like to add to curriculum 'The weather and our daily life'. Each response was analyzed and classified based on scientific terms related to weather or climate. The results of the study were as follows. First, there were three learning topics related to weather, such as water phenomena in the atmosphere, fine dust and yellow dust phenomena, and light or electricity phenomena, and two topics related to climate such as abnormal climate and global warming. Second, interest in the problem of fine dust and yellow dust in the atmosphere was relatively high. Third, the interest in learning in the knowledge area was relatively higher than in the learning in the function or attitude area. Through these research results, it can be confirmed that it is necessary to develop a climate change or climate crisis education program.

  • Mathematics Listening Ability(MLA) refers to the ability to listen to and grasp the meaning of speech language containing mathematical concepts and principles, distinguishing it from daily life and listening in other subject classes. According to literature, MLA might be divided into six types. Among them, interpretation, discovering, evaluating, and evaluation may indicate an attitude that correctly listens to the meaning of the language used in mathematics classes. On the other hand, selective, pretend, and ignore are types of listening attitudes that are not appropriate. Based on the statistical analysis of 834 3rd to 6th graders and a total of 44 homeroom teachers I developed a MLA survey items for elementary school students. In this study, principal component analysis was conducted to verify reliability in the development of survey items, and expert review and correlation analysis of survey results were conducted to verify validity. In addition, the validity was verified by statistically analyzing the survey results of students and their homeroom teachers. Based on literature and statistical analysis, I developed a MLA Survey items(for students) consisting of 25 questions and a mathematical resolution measurement tool(for teachers) consisting of 26 questions.

  • The current employment status among young home economists and perspectives in occupations for prospective Home Economics graduates were explored in this study which utilized information from 17 to 21 colleges in Korea and colleges in the United States during the five years of 1977∼1981. The Home Economics content areas covered in this study were Clothing and Textiles, Foods and Nutrition, Housing and Interior Design, and Child Development and Family Life. The highest percentage of Korean graduates in Clothing and Textiles was employed either as teachers at the junior high school level or as designers in the clothing and textile industries. Quite a number of the graduates were engaged in further studies at the graduate level. Korean graduates with a master's degree were teaching at the college level and some had furthered their studies at the doctorate level either here or abroad. Koreans with a bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition held jobs as teachers in junior high school, dieticians at mass feeding institutions and hospitals, food scientists in food industries, and researchers in institutions. Those with a master's degree were teaching at the college level. Americans with a bachelor's degree worked as dieticians, supervisors in restaurants and institutions, extension workers, researchers at various facilities, teachers and clerks. Americans with a master's or doctorate degree were engaged in teaching at colleges or supervising at research or working as extension specialists. In general, Korean graduates were found to hold positions in less varied areas than their American counter-parts. Among forty-nine graduates those working in their professional field reported less sex discrimination that those working in other fields. The major area of employment in Housing and Interior Design or Home Management graduates in Korea was teaching while in the United States it was extension work, business, governmental work and teaching. It was suggested that in the future, career development in Korea be further explored to include extension service, research, social welfare, financial planning, business, free-lancing, funeral home, home-call, and correctional education. Interviews with executives from 6 business enterprises indicated that most of them were aware of the potential contribution home economists could make for their companies but they expressed a negative attitude towards women in general due to their short stay on the job. Jobs held by Child Development and Family Life majors with a bachelor's degree in Korea were mostly teaching positions in public, junior and senior high school. However, jobs such as nursery school teaching, working in clinical setting, business, and teaching at public, junior and senior high school predominated in the United states. Most Korean graduates with a master's degree were teaching in professional colleges while in the United Stated the job variation among the graduates was rather evenly distributed among teaching at college level, public and high school, nursery school and administration areas. Reports from 7 child development majors on the job indicated that they were paid less that secretarial workers. Only half of them were working in their major area and these expressed satisfaction with their work. Two thirds of the respondents indicated no sex discrimination. It was suggested that in the future Child Development and Family Life majors pursue employment in counseling, guidance, recreation, mass media, administration and outreach work as well as education, research and parent education in services for children, teen-agers, adults and families.

  • In order to satisfy the gifted students' learning desire and maximize the effectiveness of their learning, we constructed the system which would provide them with supplementary activities based on the Internet boards. At the very beginning, we investigated the personalities of the gifted and their classroom environment which they prefer through studying the related references and asking questionnaires. And then we discussed how to improve the lectures, decided to make the basic structures of the web-based supporting system, and designed some teaching strategies for the gifted. which are named 'GIFTED'. Now the web-based supporting system, which are composed of several boards, was established and is being operated now. Each subject has its own boards. The boards of each subject basically consist of Notice, Learning-materials, Q&A, Homework, Recommended Sites. The results we've got from operating our system are following: Teachers and students were generally satisfied with the system while students wanted more materials. Students and teachers had a positive attitude that the site boards of Learning-materials and Homework are being actively used, while the numbers of contents uploaded in Q&A and Recommended site boards are small and they are regarded as being unimportant to the students and teachers.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of private kindergarten teachers' teacher efficacy and communication competence on their job stress. The subjects in this study were 161 private kindergarten teachers working in kindergartens in Gyeong-gi province. For the research analysis, frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient, and Pearson's correlation were calculated and regression analysis were conducted. The results are as follows. Firstly, it was revealed that personal teacher efficacy does have statistically meaningful negative influences on job stress as a whole as well as the sub-factors of job stress, but general teacher efficacy has meaningful negative influences only on the personal-related stress of the sub-factors. Secondly, communication competence has statistically meaningful negative influences on job stress as a whole as well as the sub-factors of job stress. Through this study, it is possible to provide a basic guideline to configure the subject content that enhance teacher efficacy and make them give full play to communication competence and develop a positive attitude for coping with job stress in a curriculum for private kindergarten teachers.
