A jet stream applied tangential to a curved surface in fluid increases lift force by strengthening circulation around the surface and this phenomenon is known as the Coanda effect. Many experimental and numerical studies have been performed on the Coanda effect and the results found to be useful in various fields of aerodynamics. Recently, preliminary studies on Coanda control surface are in progress to look for practical application in marine hydrodynamics since various control surfaces are used to control behaviors of ships and offshore structures. In the present study, the performance of a Coanda control surface with different geometries of the jet injection nozzle was surveyed to assess applicability to ship rudders. A numerical simulation was carried out to study flow characteristics around a section of a horn type rudder subjected to a tangential jet stream. The RANS equations, discretized by a cell-centered finite volume method were used for this computation after verification by comparing to the experimental data available. Special attentions have been given to the sensitivity of the lift performance of a Coanda rudder to the location of the slit (outlet) and intake of the gap between the horn and rudder surface at the various angles of attack. It is found that the location of the water intake is important in enhancing the lift because the gap functions as a conduit of nozzle generating a jet sheet on the rudder surface.
The 2nd order response surface method (RSM) has been carried out to get optimum thermal design for enhanced heat transfer on square channel with bleed holes. The RSM was used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged navier-stokes equation. Turbulence model for heat transfer analysis used RNG k-epsilon model. The wall function used enhanced wall function. Numerical local heat transfer coefficients were similar to the experimental tendency. Two design variables such as attack angle of rib (${\alpha}$), rib pitch-to-rib height ratio (p/e) were chosen. Operation condition considered bleeding ratio per bleed hole ($BR_{hole}$). A response surface were constructed by the design variables and operation condition. As a result, adjusted $R^2$ was more than 0.9. Optimization results of various objective function were similar to heat transfer in channel with and without bleed flow. But friction factor was lower than channel without bleed flow.

A neural network based adaptive reconfigurable flight controller is presented for a class of discrete-time nonlinear flight systems in the presence of variations of aerodynamic coefficients and control effectiveness decrease caused by control surface damage. The proposed adaptive nonlinear controller is developed making use of the backstepping technique for the angle of attack, sideslip angle, and bank angle command following without two time separation assumption. Feedforward multilayer neural networks are implemented to guarantee reconfigurability for control surface damage as well as robustness to the aerodynamic uncertainties. The main feature of the proposed controller is that the adaptive controller is developed under the assumption that all of the nonlinear functions of the discrete-time flight system are not known accurately, whereas most previous works on flight system applications even in continuous time assume that only the nonlinear functions of fast dynamics are unknown. Neural networks learn through the recursive weight update rules that are derived from the discrete-time version of Lyapunov control theory. The boundness of the error states and neural networks weight estimation errors is also investigated by the discrete-time Lyapunov derivatives analysis. To show the effectiveness of the proposed control law, the approach is i]lustrated by applying to the nonlinear dynamic model of the high performance aircraft.

The induced chemical and salt solution in water or admixture are originated to the corrosion process of the steeo rebar. These liquids penetrate into concrete as the accompanied by the chemical reaction and cause to attack the steel rebar in concrete. Concrete surfaces which it exposed to deicing, water and sea water is allowed to enter the chlorides in the structures. To prevent from the source of corrosion and deterioration Is subjected to put an end to corrode or reduce to contaminate on the steel rebar. As this reason the MCI 2022 products are applied to the surface of concrete and steel rebar. The concrete samples were made of to the kind of four, i.e. RF, MR, MS, and MM. Corrosion inhibitor is applied to coat on the surface of concrete after it had been cured for 28days. Specimen were immersed in a 3.5% sodium chloride solution. Concrete specimen were tested to determine the changes of the resistance polarization, Rp, over a 22 weeks period. MCI 2022 is significantly shown the corrosion inhibition of steel rebar in 3.5% NaCl solution. In the each different concrete sample, MS and MM is seemed to be better than others. The results are proofed that MCI 2022 is promised to maintain the inhibition of corrosion with high resistance polarization of the steel rebar in concrete.

Pentacene channel for organic thin film transistor was deposited on the SiOC film by thermal evaporation. The growth of pentacene is related with the Diels-Alder reaction and the nucleophilic reaction by the thermal induction. The surface is an important factor to control the recursive Diels-Alder reaction for growing of pentacene on SiOC far The terminal C=C double bond of pentacene molecule was broken easily as a result of attack of the nucleophilic reagents on the surface of SiOC film. The nucleophilic reaction can be accelerated by increasing temperature on surface, and it maks pentacene to grow hardly on the SiOC film with a flow rate ratio of $O_2/(BTMSM+O_2)=0.5$ due to its inorganic property. The nucleophlic reaction mechanism is $SN_2(bimolecular nucleophilic substitution)$ type.
A numerical procedure for optimizing the shape of three-dimensional channel with V-shaped ribs extruded on both walls has been carried out to enhance the turbulent heat transfer. The response surface based optimization is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Wavier-stoked analysis. Shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model is used as a turbulence closure. Computational results for average heat transfer rate show good agreements with experimental data. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of heat transfer and friction loss-related terms with a weighting factor. Three dimensionless variables such as, rib pitch-to-rib height ratio, rib height-to-channel height ratio, and the attack angle of the rib are chosen as design variables. Nineteen training points obtained by D-optimal designs for three design variables construct a reliable response surface. In the sensitivity analysis, it is found that the objective function is most sensitive to the ratio of rib height-to-channel height ratio. And, optimal values of design variables have been obtained in a range of the weighting factor.

Concrete structure is not the only material vulnerable to physical and chemical processes of deterioration associates with severe conditions. Deterioration of the concrete structure, however, occurs more progressively from the outside of the concrete exposed to severe conditions. Especially, Carbonation, chloride ion attack is more important factor of concrete durability. This study is interested in manufacturing the self-cleaning concrete surface impregnant including TEOS, lithium silicate for the repair of the exposed concrete surface and the color concrete requiring the advanced function in view of the concrete appearance. Form the results, TEOS and lithium silicate are very effective that increasing the concrete durability using self-cleaning concrete impregnant. Self-cleaning concrete impregnant specimens is satisfied with performance requirement of KS standard in adhesion test in tension but the reinforcement of concrete substrate is slight. So, the self-cleaning concrete impregnant of this study is more desirable for the improvement of durability rather than the reinforcement.
Heavy metal fluoride glasses exhibit considerable promise as high transparency materials from the UV to the IR. These glasses are prepared by fusion of the mixture of metal fulorides($ZrF_4$, $BaF_2$, $LaF_3$ etc) at 800-1, 00$0^{\circ}C$ under the inert$(N_2)$ or reactive ($CCl_4$, $Cl_2$) atmosphere following the casting into glass on cooling. Infrared absorption at the 3, 400 cm-1 -OH peak has been measured as a function of thickness for several ZrF-$BaF_2$-LaF and $HfF_4$-$BaF_2$-$LaF_3$ glasses to separate contributions from bulk and surface -OH. For glasses melted under $CCl_4$ reactive atmosphere the peak is due almost entirely to surface-OH. and melting in a closed reactor was best for removing -OH. In ambient atmosphere the -OH peak exhibited no time dependence over a 30 d period indicating a very small rate of surface attack by atmospheric H2O. Removal of -OH absorption processing was generally easier and more complete for the $BaF_2$/ThF4-glasses than for the $ZrF_4$-or $HfF_4$-based glasses.

Electrochemical characteristics of welded stainless steels containing Ti have been studied by using the electrochemical techniques in 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$+0.01 M KSCN solutions at $25^{\circ}C$. Stainless steels with 12 mm thick-ness containing $0.2{\~}0.9 wt\%$ Ti were fabricated with vacuum melting and following rolling process. The stainless steels were solutionized for 1hr at $1050^{\circ}C$ and welded by MIG method. Samples were individually prepared with welded zone, heat affected zone, and matrix for intergranular corrosion and pitting test. Optical microscope, XRD and SEM are used for analysing microstructure, surface and corrosion morphology of the stainless steels. The welded zone of the stainless steel with lower Ti content have shown dendrite structure mixed with $\gamma$ and $\delta$ phase. The Cr-carbides were precipitated at twin and grain boundary in heat affected zone of the steel and also the matrix had the typical solutionized structure. The result of electrochemical measurements showed that the corrosion potential of welded stainless steel were Increased with higher Ti content. On the other hand, reactivation($I_r$), passivation and active current($I_a$) density were decreased with higher Ti content. In the case of lower Ti content, the corrosion attack of welded stainless steel was remarkably occurred along intergranular boundary and ${\gamma}/{\delta}$ phase boundary in heat affected zone.
The influence of wake flow on a flat-plate blade having different shapes near the hailing edge has been investigated in this paper. Two different shapes near the trailing edge namely the pressure surface cutting (TP) and the suction surface cutting (TS) have been used. The calculation has been performed for two different angles of attack (a =10 and 15 degree) in both the cases. RANS equations have been solved using SST-model as a turbulence closure. Cp and CL values obtained for TS are higher compared to those obtained for TP. Also, the vorticity distribution obtained in case of TS is stronger as compared to that obtained in the case of TP The Karmann Vortex is observed in both the cases but it is more clear in TS case. It is found that in the case of TS, flow separation does not occur upto the trailing edge on both the suction and the pressure sides of the blade while in the case of TP, the flow separateson the pressure surface near the trailing edge of the flat-plate blade.
