  • A well-defined relative degree, which is one of the basic assumptions in adaptive control or nonlinear synthesis problems, is addressed. It is shown that this is essentially a necessary condition for asymptotic tracking in discrete-time nonlinear systems. To show this, tracking problems are defined, and a local linear input-output behavior of a discrete-time system is introduced in relation to a well-defined relative degree. It is then shown that if a plant is invertible and accessible from the origin and a compensator solves the local asymptotic tracking problem, then the plant necessarily has a well-defined relative degree at the origin.

  • In this paper, we propose a Jonckheere type test statistic for testing the parallelism of k regression lines against ordered alternatives. The order restriction problems could arise in various settings such as location, scale, and regression problems. But most of theory about the statistical inferences under order restrictions has been developed to deal with location parameters. The proposed test is an application of Jonckheere's procedure to regression problem. Asymptotic normality and asymptotic distribution-free properties of the test statistic are obtained under some regularity conditions.

  • In this paper, we introduce some new classes of generalized mappings and prove some common fixed point theorems for a pair of asymptotically regular mappings. Our results extend and improve various well-known results due to Kannan, Reich, Wong, Hardy and Rogers, Ćirić, Jungck, Górnicki and many others. In addition to it, a sequential fixed point for a mapping which is the point-wise limit of a sequence of functions satisfying Ćirić-Proinov-Górnicki type mapping has been proved. Supporting examples have been given in strengthening hypotheses of our established theorems.

  • In this paper we propose and analyze two a posteriori error estimators for the stabilized $P_1/P_1$ finite element discretization of the Stokes equations. These error estimators are computed by solving local Poisson or Stokes problems on elements of the underlying triangulation. We establish their asymptotic exactness with respect to the velocity error under certain conditions on the triangulation and the regularity of the exact solution.

  • An Integer-valued autoregressive integrated (INARI) model is introduced to eliminate stochastic trend and seasonality from time series of count data. This INARI extends the previous integer-valued ARMA model. We show that it is stationary and ergodic to establish asymptotic normality for conditional least squares estimator. Optimal estimating equations are used to reflect categorical and serial correlations arising from panel count data and variations arising from three random processes for obtaining observation into estimation. Under regularity conditions for martingale sequence, we show asymptotic normality for estimators from the estimating equations. Using cancer mortality data provided by the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), we apply our results to estimate the probability of cells classified by 4 causes of death and 6 age groups and to forecast death count of each cell. We also investigate impact of three random processes on estimation.

  • In this paper, we deal with a two-species chemotaxis-Stokes system with Lotka-Volterra competitive kinetics under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in a general three-dimensional bounded domain with smooth boundary. Under appropriate regularity assumptions on the initial data, by some Lp-estimate techniques, we show that the system possesses at least one global and bounded weak solution, in addition to discussing the asymptotic behavior of the solutions. Our results generalizes and improves partial previously known ones.

  • In this paper we propose a robust Wald-type test which is based on an efficient Mallows-type one-step GM-estimator. The proposed estimator based on the weight function of Song, Park and Nam (1996) has a bounded influence function and a high breakdown point. Under some regularity conditions, we compute the finite-sample breakdown point, and drive asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator. The level and power breakdown points, influence function and asymptotic distribution of the proposed test statistic are main points of this paper. To compare the performance of the proposed test with other tests, we perform some Monte Carlo simulations.

  • In this paper, we have considered an investigation on goodness of fit tests based on divergence measures. In the case of categorical data, under certain regularity conditions, we obtained asymptotic distribution of these tests. Also, we have proposed a modified test that improves the rate of convergence. In continuous case, we used our modified entropy estimator [10], for Kullback-Leibler information estimation. A comparative study based on simulation results is discussed also.
