DIRECTIONAL ASSOCIATED CURVES OF A NULL CURVE IN MINKOWSKI 3-SPACE

  • In this paper, we define the directional associated curve and the self-associated curve of a null curve in Minkowski 3-space. We study the properties and relations between the null curve, its directional associated curve and its self-associated curve. At the same time, by solving certain differential equations, we get the explicit representations of some null curves.

Factors Associated with Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Consumption in Preschool Children (학령전기 아동 단 음료 섭취 관련 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with sugar-sweetened beverage consumption of Korean preschool children. Methods: Subjects for the study were recruited using the convenience sampling method. A total of 162 mothers with preschool children aged 3 to 5 years participated in the study using a self-reported questionnaire and provided data regarding the frequency and quantum of the children's sugar-sweetened beverage consumption days in a week and the factors associated with such consumption. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted to analyze the factors associated with the sugar-sweetened beverage consumption of preschool children. Results: Among the children-specific factors, age (β=.13, p=.015) was positively associated, while fruits/vegetable consumption (β=-.22, p<.001) was negatively associated with sugar-sweetened beverage consumption of the preschool children. Among the mother-specific factors, fruits/vegetable consumption of mothers was negatively associated (β=-.16, p=.006), while the sugar-sweetened beverage consumption of the mothers was positively associated with the sugar-sweetened beverage consumption of the preschool children (β=.27, p<.001). In addition, the maternal restrictive feeding style was negatively associated with sugar-sweetened beverage consumption of preschool children (β=-.23, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on these results, interventions targeted at children, parents, and the family environment should be developed to reduce the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in early childhood.

The Structural Relationships between Interactivity, Identification, Relationship Quality, and Loyalty of e-Brand in Internet Site (인터넷사이트에서 e-브랜드의 상호작용성, 일체감, 관계품질과 충성도에 관한 구조적 관계)

  • This study was to identify the concepts and dimensions of interactivity and to examine the effect of interactivity on identification, relationship quality, and loyalty of e-brand in Internet sites using structural equation model(SEM). For these purposes, the authors developed several hypotheses. The results are as follows. First, control is not associated with identification, but is positively associated with relationship quality. Second, two-way communication is not associated with identification and relationship quality. Third, responsiveness is associated with identification and relationship quality. Fourth, identification is associated with relationship quality. Fifth, identification is not associated with loyalty, while relationship quality is associated loyalty. This means that identification and relationship quality play the partial mediating roles in the relationship between interactivity and loyalty. At the end of this paper, managerial implications, limitations, and future research directions were suggested.

An infinite collection of random variables is weakly associated if every finite subcollection is weakly associated. The basic properties of weak association and central limit theorem for weakly associated random variables are derived. We also extend this idea to point random fields and prove that a Cox process with a stationary weakly associated intensity rardom measure is weakly associated. Another inequalities and the fact that positive correlated normal random variables are weakly associated are also proved.

Methimazole-Induced Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody-Associated Vasculitis in the Peripheral Nerves

  • Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis has been reported in Graves' disease patients treated with antithyroid drugs (ATDs), especially propylthiouracil. ATD-induced ANCA-associated vasculitis usually involved the kidneys followed by the respiratory organs and skin. The treatment of ANCA-associated vasculitis induced by ATDs is to stop ATD therapy immediately, which often leads to an overall good prognosis. We report a case of ANCA-associated vasculitis in the peripheral nerves of the lower extremities in a 66-year-old woman who was treated with methimazole (MMI) for Graves' disease. To our knowledge, this is the third case of peripheral nervous system (PNS) involvement of ATD-induced vasculitis and the first case of PNS vasculitis associated with MMI.

  • Five new species of copepods associated with marine invertebrates are described from shallow water of the Pacific coast of Panama. They are Pseudomacrochiron pocilloporae n. sp., Acontiophorus panamensis n. sp. and Asterocheres urabensis n. sp. associated with the scleractinian coral Pocillopora damicornis (Linnaeus), Asterocheres pilosus n. sp. associated with the echinoid Eucidaris thouarsii (Valenciennes), and Asterocheres walteri n. sp. associated with the sea star Oreaster brevispinis.

Scaling Limits for Associated Random Measures

  • In this paper we investigate scaling limits for associated random measures satisfying some moment conditions. No stationarity is required. Our results imply an improvement of a central limit theorem of Cox and Grimmett to associated random measure and an extension to the nonstationary case of scaling limits of Burton and Waymire. Also we prove an invariance principle for associated random measures which is an extension of the Birkel's invariance principle for associated process.

  • Let R be an integral domain with identity. We show that each associated prime ideal of a principal ideal in R[X] has height one if and only if each associated prime ideal of a principal ideal in R has height one and R is an S-domain.

  • Cellular senescence is a process by which cells enter a state of permanent cell cycle arrest. It is commonly believed to underlie organismal aging and age-associated diseases. However, the mechanism by which cellular senescence contributes to aging and age-associated pathologies remains unclear. Recent studies showed that senescent cells exert detrimental effects on the tissue microenvironment, generating pathological facilitators or aggravators. The most significant environmental effector resulting from senescent cells is the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which is constituted by a strikingly increased expression and secretion of diverse pro-inflammatory cytokines. Careful investigation into the components of SASPs and their mechanism of action, may improve our understanding of the pathological backgrounds of age-associated diseases. In this review, we focus on the differential expression of SASP-related genes, in addition to SASP components, during the progress of senescence. We also provide a perspective on the possible action mechanisms of SASP components, and potential contributions of SASP-expressing senescent cells, to age-associated pathologies.
