Numerical analysis of two-fluid flows for both water and air is carried out. Free-Surface flows with an arbitrary deformation have been simulated around two dimensional submerged hydrofoil. The computation is performed using a finite volume method with unstructured meshes and an interface capturing scheme to determine the shape of the free surface. The method uses control volumes with an arbitrary number of faces and allows cell-wise local mesh refinement. the integration in space is of second order based on midpoint rule integration and linear interpolation. The method is fully implicit and uses quadratic interpolation in time through three time levels The linear equation systems are solved by conjugate gradient type solvers and the non-linearity of equations is accounted for through picard iterations. The solution method is of pressure-correction type and solves sequentially the linearized momentum equations the continuity equation the conservation equation of one species and the equations or two turbulence quantities.
Free-surface flows with an arbitrary deformation, induced by a submerged hydrofoil, are simulated numerically, considering two-fluid flows of both water and air. The computation is performed by a finite volume method using unstructured meshes and an interface capturing scheme to determine the shape of the free surface. The method uses control volumes with an arbitrary number of faces and allows cell wise local mesh refinement. The integration in space is of second order, based on midpoint rule integration and linear interpolation. The method is fully implicit and uses quadratic interpolation in time through three time levels. The linear equations are solved by conjugate gradient type solvers, and the non-linearity of equations is accounted for through Picard iterations. The solution method is of pressure-correction type and solves sequentially the linearized momentum equations, the continuity equation, the conservation equation of one species, and the equations for two turbulence quantities. Finally, a comparison is quantitatively made at the same speed between the computation and experiment in which the grid sensitivity is numerically checked.
This paper presents an L1 optimization based filtering technique which effectively eliminates the optical misalignment effects encountered in the squint guidance mode with strapdown seekers. We formulated a series of L1 optimization problems in order to separate the bias and the gradient components from the measured data, and solved them via the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and sparse matrix decomposition techniques. The proposed technique was able to rapidly detect arbitrary discontinuities and gradient changes from the measured signals, and was shown to effectively cancel the undesirable effects coming from the seeker misalignment angles. The technique was implemented on embedded flight computers and the real-time operational performance was verified via the hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) tests in parallel with the automatic target recognition algorithms and the intra-red synthetic target images.
The existing approximations of diffusion flux in unstructured cell-centered finite volume methods are examined in detail with each other and clarified to have indefinite expressions in several respects. A new numerical approximation of diffusion flux at cell face center is then proposed, which is second-order accurate even on irregular grids and may be easily implemented in CFD code using cell-centered finite volume method with unstructured grids composed of arbitrary convex polyhedral shape.
We study Riemannian or pseudo-Riemannian manifolds which admit a closed conformal vector field. Subject to the condition that at each point $p{\in}M^n$ the set of conformal gradient vector fields spans a non-degenerate subspace of TpM, using a warped product structure theorem we give a complete description of the space of conformal vector fields on arbitrary non-Ricci flat Einstein spaces.
In this paper, performance improved hole-filling algorithm which includes the boundary noise removing pre-process that can be used for an arbitrary virtual view synthesis has been proposed. Boundary noise occurs due to the boundary mismatch between depth and texture images during the 3D warping process and it usually causes unusual defects in a generated virtual view. Common-hole is impossible to recover by using only a given original view as a reference and most of the conventional algorithms generate unnatural views that include constrained parts of the texture. To remove the boundary noise, we first find occlusion regions and expand these regions to the common-hole region in the synthesized view. Then, we fill the common-hole using the spiral weighted average algorithm and the gradient searching algorithm. The spiral weighted average algorithm keeps the boundary of each object well by using depth information and the gradient searching algorithm preserves the details. We tried to combine strong points of both the spiral weighted average algorithm and the gradient searching algorithm. We also tried to reduce the flickering defect that exists around the filled common-hole region by using a probability mask. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs much better than the conventional algorithms.
Purpose: to analyze and compare mucsle activity of Quadriceps femoris depending on the existence of taping while normal people walk forward and backward on treadmill when the slope and speed changes on treadmill. Method: Among 40 people who participated in this study, 20 experimenter who apply a taping walk forward and backward to 0%, 5%, 10% gradient per 2km/h and 4km/h using treadmill to give arbitrary walking behavior, 20 experimenter who doesn't apply a taping also walk forward and backward to 0%, 5%, 10% gradient per 2km/h and 4km/h using treadmill. To analyze muscle activity, We use an electromyography and Kinesio tape of good elasticity for obtained suffient effects in the experiment. Result: During backward walking in 2km/h, Vastus medialis and Vastus lateralis showed significant differences(p<0.05) when apply a taping. During backward walking in 2km/h, Vastus medialis and Rectus femoris, and Vastus lateralis all showed significant differences(p<0.05). During backward walking in 2km/h, Vastus medialis and Vastus lateralis showed significant differences in 10% gradient(p<0.05). During backward walking in 4km/h, Vastus medialis and Rectus femoris, and Vastus lateralis all showed significant differences(p<0.05). During backward walking in 4km/h, By the difference in slope, Vastus medialis and Vastus lateralis showed significant differences between 0% and 10% gradient(p<0.05). Conclusion: In comparison to muscle activity of Quadriceps femoris when apply a taping according to slope and speed during forward and backward walking on treadmill, when apply a taping and walk backward and 10% gradient on treadmill in 4km/h, maximum of muscle activity is shown.
The present paper deals with delamination fracture analyses of the multilayered functionally graded non-linear elastic Symmetric Split Beam (SSB) configurations. The material is functionally graded in both width and height directions in each layer. It is assumed that the material properties are distributed non-symmetrically with respect to the centroidal axes of the beam cross-section. Sine laws are used to describe the continuous variation of the material properties in the cross-sections of the layers. The delamination fracture is analyzed in terms of the strain energy release rate by considering the balance of the energy. A comparison with the J-integral is performed for verification. The solution derived is used for parametric analyses of the delamination fracture behavior of the multilayered functionally graded SSB in order to evaluate the effects of the sine gradients of the three material properties in the width and height directions of the layers and the location of the crack along the beam width on the strain energy release rate. The solution obtained is valid for two-dimensional functionally graded non-linear elastic SSB configurations which are made of an arbitrary number of lengthwise vertical layers. A delamination crack is located arbitrary between layers. Thus, the two crack arms have different widths. Besides, the layers have individual widths and material properties.
