  • This paper describes the information for quantitative simulation of weakly ionized plasma. In previous paper, we calculated the electron transport coefficients in $CF_4+Ar$ gas mixture by using two-term approximation of Boltzmann equation. but there is difference between the result of the two-term and the multi-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation in $CF_4$ gas. Therefore, in this paper, we calculated the electron drift velocity (W) in $CF_4+Ar$ gas mixture for range of E/N values from $0.01\sim500[Td}$ at the temperature was 300[K] and pressure was 1[Torr] by multi-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation by Robson and Ness. The results of two-term and multi-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation has been compared with each other for a range of E/N.

  • Modelling financial phenomena with diffusion processes is frequently used technique. This study reviews the earlier researches on the approximation problem of transition densities of diffusion processes, which takes important roles in estimating diffusion processes, and consider the method to obtain the coefficients of series efficiently, in series approximation method of transition densities. We developed a new efficient algorithm to compute the coefficients which are represented by repeated Dynkin operator on Hermite polynomial.

  • In this paper, an efficient contour coding algorithm incorporating polygonal approximation and discrete sine transform is introduced. Contour information is inevitable in content based coding, and polygonal approximation method is widely used to compress the contour information. However polygonal approximation method is not suitable when fine contour is needed. We show that the error signal of polygonal approximation can be efficiently represented using DST, that is, the contour information can be represented accurately with polygons and DST coefficients. With this contour coding scheme, the required bits to represent a contour can be reduced by about 40-50% with virtually no degradation compared to the existing chain coding method.

  • If an arbitrary topography is approximated to a number of vertical steps, both variational approximation and eigenfunction expansion method can be used to compute linear wave transformation over the bottom. In this study a scatterer method associated with variational approximation is proposed to calculate reflection and transmission coefficients. Present method may be shown to be more simple and direct than the successive-application-matrix method by O'Hare and Davies. And Several numerical examples are given which are in good agreement with existing results.

  • The essential idea of the element-free Galerkin method (EFG) is that moving least-squares (MLS) approximation are used for the trial and test functions with the variational principle (weak form). By using the weighted orthogonal basis function to construct the MLS interpolants, we derive the formulae for an improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method for solving three-dimensional problems in linear elasticity. There are fewer coefficients in improved moving least-squares (IMLS) approximation than in MLS approximation. Also fewer nodes are selected in the entire domain with the IEFG method than is the case with the conventional EFG method. In this paper, we selected a few example problems to demonstrate the applicability of the method.

  • We measured the electron transport coefficients, the electron drift velocity, W, and the longitudinal diffusion coefficient, $D_{L}$, over the E/N range from 0.03 to 100 Td and gas pressure range from 0.133 to 122 kPa in the 0.526% and 5.05% $C_{3}F_{8}$-Ar mixtures by the double shutter drift tube with variable drift distance. And we calculated these electron transport coefficients by using multi-term approximation of Boltzmann equation analysis. We determined the electron collision cross sections set for $C_{3}F_{8}$ molecule by the comparison of measurement and calculation. Our special attention in the present study was focused upon the inelastic collision cross sections of the $C_{3}F_{8}$ molecule.

  • Video data is usually stored in a compressed format in order to reduce the storage space. For efficient browsing, searching, and retrieval of compressed video sequences, size-reduced images (or DC images which are formed with block DC coefficients) are generally preferred to avoid unnecessary computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a DC image extraction scheme appropriate for scene analysis and efficient browsing of compressed video sequences. The proposed algorithm utilizes predicted low frequency AC coefficients to achieve better approximation and to reduce the error drift. Due to the AC prediction based on a quadratic surface model, the proposed scheme requires no additional memory compared with the previous zero-order or first-order approximation scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves better subjective and objective quality with minor additional operations.

  • As the Ubiquitous generation approaches, the importance of the sensor data processing is growing. The data approximation scheme, one of the data processing methods, can be the key of sensor data processing, for it is related not only to the lifetime of sensors but also to the size of the storage. In this paper, we propose the Harmonic Wavelet transform which can minimize the relative error for given sensor data. Harmonic Wavelets use the harmonic mean as a representative which is the minimum point of the maximum relative error between two data values. In addition, Harmonic Wavelets retain the relative errors as wavelet coefficients so we can select proper wavelet coefficients that reduce the relative error more easily. We also adapt the greedy algorithm for local optimization to reduce the time complexity. Experimental results show the performance and the scalability of Harmonic Wavelets for sensor data.

  • Molecular dynamics simulations have been performed to investigate the transport properties of self-diffusion coefficients in the penetrable-sphere model system. The resulting simulation data for the product of the packing fraction and the self-diffusion coefficient exhibit a transition from an increasing function of density in lower repulsive systems, where the soft-type collisions are dominant, to a decreasing function in higher repulsive systems, where most particle collisions are the hard-type reflections due to the low-penetrability effects. A modified Enskog-like equation implemented by the effective packing fraction with the mean-field energy correction is also proposed, and this heuristic approximation yields a reasonably good result even in systems of high densities and high repulsive energy barriers.
