Hair is made of proteins containing various amino acids. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is believed to be responsible for the most damaging effects of sunlight, and also plays an important role in hair aging. The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in morphological and chemical structures after ultraviolet B (UVB) irradiation of human hair. The UVB-irradiated hair showed characteristic morphological and structural changes, compared to those of the normal hair. The result from a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray diffractometer (EDX) showed that the scale of UV-irradiated hair appeared to be rough and the amount of oxygen element was higher than that of the normal hair. Fluorescence and three dimensional (3D) topographical images were obtained by a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). In 3D images, the green emission intensity of normal hair was much higher than that of fluorescing UVB-irradiated hair. The intensity of green emission reflects the intrinsic fluorescence of hair protein. Also, a fluorescent imaging method using fluorescamine reagent was used to identify the free amino groups resulting from a peptide bond breakage in UVB-irradiated hair. Strong blue fluorescence of UVB-irradiated hair, which indicates a very high level of amino groups, was observed by CLSM. Therefore, the fluorescamine as an extrinsic fluorescence could provide a useful tool to identify the peptide bond breakage in UVB-irradiated hair. Infrared image mapping was also employed to assess the cross-sections of normal and UVB-irradiated specimens to examine the oxidation of disulfide bonds. The degree of peak areas with strong absorbance for the disulfide mono-oxide was spread from the outside to the inside of hair. The spectroscopic techniques used alone, or in combination, launch new possibilities in the field of hair cosmetics.

In tunnel excavation by TBMs, a cutterhead, which practically excavates the ground, is an important part directly affecting net penetration rate. Most of the researches on the cutterhead design that have been carried out until now are on the cutter arrangement. It is difficult to find a study for the effect of the scraper installation direction on TBM excavation although same cutterheads except for direction of the scraper are used in Korea. Therefore, this paper shows how the direction of scraper installation affects shield-TBM excavation. Discrete element method was used to identify the effect of scraper installation direction on shield-TBM excavation. When the scraper installation direction was outward, the amount of particles per unit time flowed into the cutter head opening was smaller than when the scraper installation direction was inward, and more loads were applied to the cutterhead.
Glass pieces excavated from Mireuksa Temple dated $7^{th}$ century A.D. were characterized by chemical composition, specific gravity and melting point. Lead isotope ratios of lead glasses were also compared with those of lead ore to attribute which lead ore was delivered for making lead glass. It was known that some lead glasses found in Japan were similar with those of Mireuksa Temple as comparing the data of chemical composition and lead isotope ratios. Characteristics of lead glass from Mireuksa Temple Thirty five glass pieces of Mireuksa Temple were analyzed for five oxides and found that all was lead glass system(PbO-$SiO_2$) with the range of 70~79% for PbO and 20~28% for $SiO_2$. The concentrations of oxides such as $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$ and CuO were below 0.4%, 0.3% and 0.9%, respectively. Principal component analysis(PCA) as a statistical method was carried out to classify glasses with the similarities of chemical concentrations. The result of PCA has shown that three groups of glasses were created according to the excavation positions and two major oxides(PbO and $SiO_2$) greatly contributed to the dispersion of glasses on principal component 1(PC1) axis and trace element oxides($Al_2O_3$ and $Fe_2O_3$) for PC2 axis. Most of lead glasses were greenish by the efficacy of iron and copper oxides and some showed yellowish-green. The gravity of lead glasses was about 4.4~5.4 and estimated melting point was near $670^{\circ}C$. Lead isotope ratios of glasses were analyzed and found quite close to a lead ore from the Bupyeong mine in Gyeonggi-do. Comparison with lead glasses found in Japan Lead glasses of Mireuksa Temple were compared with those of Japan on the basis of chemical and physical data. Chemical compositions of Japanese lead glasses dated $7^{th}{\sim}8^{th}$ century A.D. were nearly similar with those of Mireuksa Temple but lead isotope ratios of those were separated into two groups. Three distribution maps of lead ores of Korea, Japan and China with lead isotope ratios were applied for lead glasses found in Japan. The result have shown that the locations of lead glasses from Fukuoka Prefecture coincided with the region of northen part of Korea and similar with those of Mireuksa Temple and lead glasses from Nara Prefecture dated $8^{th}$ century A.D. were located in the region of Japanese lead ore. This research has demonstrated that lead glasses of Mireuksa Temple conveyed to Miyajidake site, Fukuoka Prefecture around $7^{th}$ century A.D. and glass melting pots and glass beads excavated from Nara Prefecture confirmed the first use of Japanese lead ore for production of lead glasses from the end of $7^{th}$ century A.D.

Micropiles are widely used for foundation underpinning to enhance bearing capacity and reduce settlement of existing foundation. In this study, the main objective is to evaluate underpinning performance of a newly developed micropile called waveform micropile for foundation underpinning during vertical extension. Finite element method (FEM) was used to evaluate the underpinning performance of waveform micropile in terms of load-settlement response of underpinned foundation and load sharing behavior. For comparison, underpinning effects of three conventional micropiles with different lengths were also discussed in this study. Numerical results of load-settlement response for single pile demonstrated that bearing capacity and axial stiffness of waveform micropiles were higher than those of conventional micropiles because of the effect of shear keys of waveform micropiles. When additional loads 20 %, which is according to design loads of the vertical extension, were applied to the underpinned foundation, load sharing capacity of waveform micropile was 40 % higher than conventional micropile at the same size. The waveform micropile also showed better underpinning performance than the conventional micropile of length 1~1.5 times of waveform micropile.

In order to facilitate the supply of gradually increasing power demand, it is also necessary to increase the number of power cables for power transmission as well as generation facilities. However, the expansion of electric power cables for supplying power to most urban areas requires a space for installation of additional cables, and the space for installing cables in domestic downtown areas is insufficient at present. The superconducting power cable, which can transmit more power with the same size, has emerged as an alternative to overcome the insufficient cable installation space. However, superconducting power cables, which have the advantage of large power transmission, have some losses in the AC (Alternating Current) system. Therefore, the design and analysis of AC losses are essential to introduce superconducting power cables in AC power transmission systems. In this paper, we analyze the AC loss of various superconducting power cables and consider the actual superconducting power cables and their application to the system. Although there is a theoretical calculation method of AC loss for single superconducting wire, it is not easy to calculate AC loss of superconducting power cable with large number. Therefore, the authors intend to analyze various kinds of superconducting power cable AC loss by using electromagnetic finite element analysis considering E-J (Electric field-Current density) characteristics of superconductivity. The analysis of the AC loss characteristics of the superconducting power cable will be an important factor in the design and development of the superconducting power cable to be applied to the actual system.
The IMO has adopted emission standards through Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) that strictly prohibit the use of bunker C oil for vessels. In this study, we have adopted the turret-moored Floating LNG-Bunkering Terminal (FLBT) which is designed to receive the LNG from LNGCs and transfer it to LNG-bunkering shuttles in side-by-side moored condition. Numerical analyses were carried out using the high-order boundary-element method for four vessels at various relative distances. Mean wave drift forces were compared in an operational sea state. A model test was performed in the ocean engineering basin at the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) to verify the safety of the berthing/unberthing operation. In the model test, a jig was designed to simulate tug boats pushing or pulling the bunkering vessels, so that the friction force of the g operation was not affected. Safety depended on the environmental direction, with more stable operation possible if the heading-control function of FLBT is applied to avoid beam-sea conditions.
In this study, the shear behavior between pile-sandy soil interface was quantified based on series of rigorous ring shear test results. Ring shearing test was carried out to observe the shear behavior prior to failure and behavior at residual state between most commonly used pile materials - steel and concrete - and Jumunjin sand. The test was set to clarify the shear behavior under various confinement conditions and soil densities. The test results were converted in to representative friction angles for various test materials. Additional numerical analysis was executed to validate the accuracy of the test results. Based on the test results and the numerical validation, it was found that due to the dilative and contractive nature of sand, its interface behavior can be categorized in to two different types : soils with higher densities tend to show peak shear stress and moves on to residual state, while on the other hand, soils with lower densities tend to show bilinear load-transfer curves along the interface. However, the relative density and the confining stress was found to affect the friction angle only in the small train range, and converges as it progresses to large deformation. This study established a large deformation analysis method which can successfully simulate and predict the large deformation behavior such as ring shear tests. Moreover, the friction angle derived from the ring shear test result and verified by numerical analysis can be applied to numerical analysis and actual design of various pile foundations.
In this study, finite element numerical analysis was performed considering various influence factors(cavity shape and size, pavement thickness and size of traffic load) in order to analyze the impact factors in the underground of the road where the cavity occurred and to evaluate the stability of the ground. In order to verify the reliability of the numerical analysis method applied in this study and the results it was compared and analyzed with the results of previous studies and field measurements. The correlation between the influence factors was analyzed through the distribution of vertical displacement obtained from the numerical analysis results, the distribution of surface settlement and surface settlement, the distribution of the stress ratio, and the distribution of the safety factor. As a result, it was confirmed that as the size of the cavity and traffic load increased and the thickness of the pavement decreased, the vertical displacement and surface settlement at the top of the cavity increased. Also, the shape of the cavity was square, the stability of the ground was significantly reduced compared to the case of a circular cavity. Through these results, it was possible to confirm the overall stability of the lower ground of the road where the cavity was generated.

It was applied by making the models such as the prior learning (e-learning), modeling by manual, learner's practice, 1:1 teaching coaching, self evaluation, coaching behavior assessment(primary, secondary), and self-directed practice. First, the cognitive practice education through the prior learning is very essential in the practice of floral design. Second, the practice class of floral design is a class where the professor generally set an example first, and the learners followed. Third, this study was to prepare the checklist, reflect it through the self evaluation, and prepare the evaluation form in accordance with the element, principle, and technical parts of floral design about the finished works. Fourth, contrary to the existing class completing within the class hour, the practice class is a process of trying to do self-directed practice, returning to home. Fifth, this study was to evaluate the works the learner made once again through the sketching and photographing by placing the work process of portfolio at the last step. To conclude, this study has found that such series of process through six steps on the practice form by the learner only would be excellent teaching learning model to improving the basic capacity of floral design. Accordingly, the development of teaching materials related to this and adaptation in the field in the future is considered as it will be very helpful to the learners' self-directed learning.

This paper is a study on the friction damper, which is one of the seismic reinforcement devices for structures. This study developed a damper by replacing the internal friction material with ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), a type of composite material. In addition, this study applied a multi-friction method in which the internal structure where frictional force is generated is laminated in several layers. To verify the performance of the developed multi-friction damper, this study performed a characteristic analysis test for the basic physical properties, wear characteristics, and disc springs of the material. As a result of the wear test, the mass reduction rate of UHMWPE was 0.003%, which showed the best performance among the friction materials based on composite materials. Regarding the disc spring, this study secured the design basic data from the finite element analysis and experimental test results. Moreover, to confirm the quality stability of the developed multi-friction damper, this study performed an seismic load test on the damping device and the friction force change according to the torque value. The quality performance test result showed a linear frictional force change according to the torque value adjustment. As a result of the seismic load test, the allowable error of the friction damper was less than 15%, which is the standard required by the design standards, so it satisfies the requirements for seismic reinforcement devices.
