Plasma Corrosion in Oxalic Acid Anodized Coatings Depending on Tartaric Acid Content

  • Study investigated the optimal anodizing conditions for fabricating an oxide film that produces less contamination in a corrosive plasma environment, using oxalic acid and tartaric acid. Oxide films were produced using sulfuric acid, oxalic acid, and tartaric acid electrolyte mixtures with various mole ratios. The oxide film made by adding 0.05M tartaric acid to 0.3M oxalic acid showed higher breakdown voltage and lower leakage current. Additionally, contamination particles were reduced during plasma etching, thus demonstrates that this mixture presented optimal conditions. However, higher tartaric acid content (0.1 M, 0.15 M) led to lower breakdown voltages and higher leakage currents. Also, it resulted in more cracking during thermal shock tests as well as the generation of more contamination particles during plasma processing.

  • In this study, the electrochemical properties of CP-Ti (commercially pure titanium) and Ti-64 (Ti-6Al-4V) were evaluated and the effect of hydrofluoric acid on corrosion resistance and electrochemical properties was elucidated. Additive manufactured materials were made by DMT (Directed Metal Tooling) method. Samples were heat-treated for 1 hour at $760^{\circ}C$ and then air cooled. Surface morphologies were studied by optical microscope and SEM. Electrochemical properties were evaluated by anodic polarization method and AC-impedance measurement. The oxide film formed on the surface was analyzed using an XPS. The addition of HF led to an increase in the passive current density and critical current density and decreased the polarization resistance regardless of the alloys employed. Based on the composition of the oxide film, the compositional difference observed by the addition of HF was little, regardless of the nature of alloys. The Warburg impedance obtained by AC-impedance measurement indicates the dissolution of the constituents of CP-Ti and Ti-64 through a porous oxide film.

화합물 반도체 기판 위에 제작된 산화 알루미늄 광결정 특성 (Aluminum Oxide Photonic Crystals Fabricated on Compound Semiconductor)

  • We fabricated photonic crystals on GaAs and GaN substrates. After anodizing the aluminium thin film in electrochemical embient, the porous alumina was implemented to the mask for reactive ion beam etching process of GaAs wafer. And photonic crystals in GaN wafer were also fabricated using electron beam nano-lithography process. The coated PMMA thin film with 200 nm-thickness on GaN surface was patterned with triangular lattice and etched out the GaN surface by the inductively coupled plasma source. The fabricated GaAs and GaN photonic crystals provide the enhanced intensities of light emission for the wavelengths of 858 and 450 nm, respectively. We will present the detailed dimensions of photonic crystals from SEM and AFM measurements.

고분자 공중합체와 알루미늄 양극 산화막 템플레이트를 이용한 나노점 배열 형성 (Fabrication of Nanodot Arrays Via Pulsed Laser Deposition Technique Using (PS-b-PMMA) Diblock Copolymer and Anodic Aluminum Oxide Templates)

  • 자발적인 미세상 분리에 의해 실린더형의 규칙적인 배열을 형성하는 고분자 공중합체와 알루미늄의 양극산화에 의해 실린더형 기공 배열이 형성되는 알루미나 템플레이트를 이용하여 다양한 물질의 나노점 배열을 형성하였다. 펄스형 레이저 기상 증착법을 이용하여 은, 니켈, 산화아연, 실리콘, 코발트 / 백금 나노점 배열을 얻었는데, 나노점의 크기와 배열은 템플레이트의 기공 크기와 배열을 보여주었다. 이러한 템플레이트 기법을 이용하면 나노점의 밀도는 고 분자 공중합체와 알루미나의 경우 각각 $6{\times}10^{11}/cm^2$$1{\times}10^{10}/cm^2$ 이다. 이중 에르븀이 도핑된 실리콘 나노점과 ZnO 나노점 배열은 PL 측정을 통하여 물질의 광학성질에 관해 알아보았다. 에르븀이 도핑된 실리콘 나노점 배열은 $1.54{\mu}m$에서 강한 빛을 내며 ZnO 나노점 배열은 380 nm 에서 강한 PL 세기를 나타낸다.

나노기공구조를 가진 알루미나필름의 트라이볼로지 특성 (Tribological Properties of Nanoporous Structured Alumina Film)

  • Tribological properties of nanoporous structured alumina film was investigated. Alumina film (AAO: anodic aluminum oxide) of $60{\mu}m$ thickness having nanopores of 45 nm diameter with 105 nm interpore-diatance was fabricated by mild anodization process. Reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding friction tests using 1 mm diameter steel ball as a counterpart were carried out with wide range of normal load from 1 mN to 1 N in an ambient environment. The morphology of worn surfaces were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The friction coefficient was strongly influenced by the applied normal load. Smooth layer patches were formed on the worn surface of both AAO and steel ball at relatively high load (100 mN and 1 N) due to tribochemical reaction and compaction of wear debris. These tribolayers contributed to the lower friction at high loads. Extremely thin layer patches, due to mild plastic deformation of surface layer, were sparsely distributed on the worn surface of AAO at low loads (1 mN and 10 mN) without the evidence of tribochemical reaction. Delaminated wear particles were generated at high loads by fatigue due to repeated loading and sliding.

납 산화피막 전극의 특성과 디이소부틸니트로소아민의 전극반응성 (Characteristics of Lead Anodic Films Formed in Aqueous Solutions and Reactivities of Di-iso-butylnitrosoamine in Sea Water)

  • 해수에서 납 산화피막전극들의 특성과 DBNA의 음극반응성을 조사하기 위해 constant current-poten-tial 방법으로 실현하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1). 대체로 인산 수용액에서 만들어진 산화피막전극에 의한 양성자의 제1단계 환원반응은 DBNA에 의하여 크게 억제되었다. 그러나 $30^{\circ}C$, 0.5M NaCl 수용액과 $6\%_{\circ}$해수에서 DBNA의 첨가 유무에는 관계없이 제2단계의 환원반응이 일어났다. 2). 0.5M NaCl수용액에 DBNA를 첨가했을 때 수산 수용액에서 만들어진 산화피막에 의한 음극반응은 일어나지 않았다. 이 현상은 억제제 DBNA가 수산에서 만들어진 산화피막과 결합하여 완전 절연체를 형성하였기 때문이다. 3). 0.5M NaCl수용액과 $6\%_{\circ}$해수에 DBNA를 첨가하여 인산수용액에서 만들어진 산화피막전극으로 음극반응을 시키면 $(\partial\triangle\;E_{H^+}/\partial T)_{i=const}$의 값은 가가$-0.006\;V/^{\circ}C$$-0.005\;V/^{\circ}C$로서 거의 같았지만, $(\partial E_o/\partial T)_{i=o}$의 값은 각각 $0.002\;V/^{\circ}C$$-0.002\;V/^{\circ}C$로서 대조적인 현상을 나타내었다. 4). 일련의 관계식을 유도하여 몇 가지 상수 및 열역학적 값을 구하였든 바, 0.5M NaCl 수용액, $6\%_{\circ}$해수 및 $6\%_{\circ}$해수에 60mM DBNA를 첨가한 수용액에서 산화피막전극에 의한 양성자의 환원 반응성을 설명한 수 있었다.

Electrodeposition법으로 제조한 Ni-Fe 나노박막 및 나노선의 특성에 미치는 용액 조성의 영향 (Effect of Solution Compositions on Properties of Ni-Fe Nano Thin Film and Wire Made by Electrodeposition Method)

  • The micro Vickers hardness and internal stress of Ni-Fe metal thin film synthesized by electrodeposition method at $25^{\circ}C$ were studied as a function of bath composition, and surface microstructure and atomic compositions of thin films were investigated by SEM and EDS. And the shape change of $200\;{\AA}$ Ni-Fe nanowires made using anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) templates by electrodeposition method were observed by SEM as a function of ultrasonic treatment time and bath composition. The Fe deposition contents on the substrate non-linearly increased with Fe ion concentration over total metal ion concentration. In case of low Fe contents film, the grain size is smaller and denser than high Fe contents deposited films, and the micro Vickers hardness increased with Fe contents of electrodeposited films. These results affected the shape change of nanowire after ultrasonic treatments.

인산용액에서 양극산화 인가전압에 따른 알루미늄 산화피막 성장 관찰 (Observation of Diverse Aluminum Oxide Structures in a Phosphoric Acid Solution according to the Applied Anodization Voltage)

  • 현재까지 다공성 알루미나 구조물은 대표적으로 양극산화 방법으로 구현되어 오고 있다. 양극산화 방법을 통해 규칙적인 배열을 가진 알루미늄 산화 피막은 쉽게 만들 수 있지만, 복합 구조물 형태를 가진 산화피막은 상대적으로 구현하기가 어렵다. 본 연구는 인산용액에서 양극산화 인가전압에 따른 피막 기공 크기, 두께 및 구조물 형태 변화를 관찰하고자 한다. 다층 복합 산화물 구조물 구현을 위해 양극산화 인가전압 조건을 조절하였고, 실험 조건은 10% 인산용액에서 양극산화 인가전압 100 V와 120 V로 각각 수행하였다. 실험 결과는 각 조건에 따라 다공성 구조물과 복합 구조물 형태의 산화물 구조를 구현할 수 있었다.

  • In recent years, Anodic aluminum oxide(AAO) has become popular and attractive materials. It can be easily fabricated and self-organized pore structures. It has been widely used as a biosensor membrane, photonic crystal for optical circuit and template for nanotube growth etc. In previous papers, the theory was developed that AAO shows anisotropic optical properties, since it has anisotropic structure with numerous cylindrical pores. It gives rise to the anisotropy of the refractive index called as birefringence. It can be used as conventional polarizing elements with high efficiency and low cost. Therefore, we would like to compare the theory and experimental results in this study. One method which can measure effective refractive index of thin film is the prism coupling technique. It can give accurate results fast and simply. Furthermore, we can also measure separately the refractive index with different polarization using polarization of the laser (TE mode and TM mode). We calculated the effective refractive index with effective medium approximations (EMAs) by pore size in the SEM image. EMAs are physical models that describe the macroscopic system as the homogeneous and typical method of all mean field theories.
