The effects of eight types of spheroidizing annealing conditions including annealing temperature, annealing time, cooling rate, and furnace atmosphere on the microstructure and hardeness were determined in SCM440 steel which has been widely used for automotive parts. The well-spheroidized structure and minimum hardness were obtained when the steel was heat-treated at $770^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours, cooled to $720^{\circ}C$ at a cooling rate of $24^{\circ}C/h$, and then kept for 7 hours at the $720^{\circ}C$ followed by air cooling. In order to increase the productivity and to save the manufacturing cost, it is desirable to apply a faster cooling rate to the spheroidizing annealing. It was found that a cooling rate of $100^{\circ}C/hr$ was the fastest cooling rate applicable to the SCM440 steel among the four cooling rates used in this study. The microstructure consisted of ferrite and very fine spheroidized cementite when the steel was annealed for 13 hours at $720^{\circ}C$ below $A_{C1}$ temperature. This was caused by the short annealing time and the retarding effect of Cr and Mo on both the dissolution of pearlite to cementite and coarsening of spheroidized cementite. The steel heat treated in air showed the decarburized layer of about $125{\mu}m$ in thickness at the surface.
We removed the bluish of the natural ruby successfully by vacuum annealing, and measured the color evolution with annealing time and temperature. We varied the anneal temperature and time $800\~1500^{\circ}C$ and $3\~26$ hrs, respectively. The color evolution of rubies with annealing condition was recorded by a digital camera and a color coordination visible spectrometer. We determined the optimum bluish eliminating annealing condition was $1500^{\circ}C-3hr$, which conserving the natural inclusions. We suggest the bluish shrink with diffusion coefficient of $D=(5\times10^{-3}){\exp}(-200.000/RT)[cm^2/s]$. We propose the color of ruby may be determined as the identical red color if the color difference between two samples are less than 1.0, and the color difference nay be an auxiliary standard to evaluate the color of rubies.

We demonstrated an alternative electrically controlled birefringence liquid crystal (ECB-LC) system with ion beam (IB)-irradiated yttrium gallium oxide (YGaO) alignment films using a sol-gel process. The surface roughness of the films was dependent on the annealing temperature; aggregated particles on surface were observed at lower annealing temperatures, whereas a smooth surface could be obtained with higher annealing temperatures. Higher transmittance in the visible region was observed at higher annealing temperatures. The film had an amorphous crystallographic state irrespective of the annealing temperature. Furthermore, ECB-LC cell with our IB-irradiated YGaO film yielded faster response time when compared to ECB-LC cell with rubbed polyimide. Considering the fast response time and high transmittance, the IB-irradiated YGaO-base LC system is a powerful alternative application for the liquid crystal display industry.
Structural and electrical properties of (Ba, Sr)TiO\ulcorner (BST) thin films prepared by pulsed laser depositon were investigated to verify the influences of post-annealing in oxygen ambient. Increase of post-anneal-ing time in oxygen ambient resulted in not only grain growth but also improvement of crystallinity of BST films. Although the post-annealing in oxygen ambient resulted in the increase of surface roughness, it assisted the dielectric constant increase by eliminating oxygen vacancies. The electrical property enhancement including high dielectric constant and low leakage current density was associated with introducing high pressure of oxygen during the post-annealing.
The effects of annealing condition on the occurrence of the delamination in cold drawn hyper-eutectoid steel wires, were investigated. Annealing treatment was performed on cold drawn steel wires for temperature range of $425^{\circ}C\sim500^{\circ}C$ with the variation of annealing time from 30sec to 15min. The increase of annealing temperature and time would cause the decrease of tensile strength and the increase of ductility. However, the occurrence of the delamination, representing torsional ductility, showed the different way from the variation of ductility.
In this study, the structural and microwave dilelectric properties of 0.15BaO-0.15SmS12TOSI3T-0.7TiOS12T ceramics with sintering and annealing conditions were investigated. In the specimen sintered at 1350 [$^{\circ}C$], dielectric constant and quality factor were good values of 80.19,2006 (fS10T=4.6851[GHz]). To improve the $\tau$S1fT of specimen which was manufactured by the optimumsintering condition (1350[$^{\circ}C$],2[Hr.]), annealed from 2[hr.] to 16[hr.] at the annealing temperature of 1200 [$^{\circ}C$]. Increasing the annealing time, dielectric constant was almost constant and quality factor was increased. In the specimen of 4[hr.] annealed, the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was minimum value, and increased with increasing the annealing time.
In an effort to improve the electrical properties of ZnO:Al transparent electrode films, post-annealing treatment in hydrogen atmosphere was attempted with varying annealing time at 573 K for compatibility with typical display device fabrication processes. It was observed that carrier concentrations and mobilities increased with longer annealing time with small changes in crystallinity. This resulted in substantial decrease in resistivity from $4.80{\times}10^{-3}$ to $8.30{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ due to increased carrier concentration. Such improvements in electrical properties are attributed to the passivation of the grain boundary surfaces. The optical properties of the films, which changed in accordance with the Burstein-Moss effect, were consistent with the observed changes in electrical properties.
$SrTiO_3$ was annealed at two different annealing times (1 h and 16 h) to investigate the annealing effect on the grain size and orientation distribution. Electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) was used to analyze the grain size and grain orientation distributions of the $SrTiO_3$. It is possible to understand the annealing effect on the microstructure evolution, by comparing the grain size and orientation distribution of the $SrTiO_3$ as a function of annealing time.
The effects of annealing temperature and time on mechanical properties and microstructures were studied in cold drawn pearlitic steel wires containing 0.84wt% Si. Annealing was performed from $200^{\circ}C$ to $450^{\circ}C$ with different time of 30sec, 1min, 15min and 1hr. The increase of tensile strength at low temperature was related with strain ageing. The decrease of tensile strength at high annealing temperature was related with spherodization of cementite and the occurrence of recovery of the lamellar ferrite in the pearlite. The improvement of ductility was connected with spherodization of cementite plate in pearlite and recovery process by reduction of high dislocation density at short time annealing temperature of $400^{\circ}C$.

Modifications in the structural and magnetic properties of co-precipitated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles can be accomplished by varying the annealing time periods during the synthetic process. Experimental results show that high-purity cobalt ferrite nanoparticles are obtained using a co-precipitation process. The dependence of the crystallite sizes on the annealing time was successfully demonstrated using XRD and SEM. Finally, vibrating sample magnetometer analyses show that the magnetic properties of the cobalt ferrite nanoparticles depend on their relative particle sizes.
