This is a qualitative case study conducted for the purpose of enhancing educational effect of safety education facilities. Recently, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has proclaimed the 7 standards for school safety education, and has established safety education facilities to implement experience-based safety education. This study attempted to explore ways to enhance educational effect of safety education facilities through participatory observation and interview conducted with personnel of several facilities. The findings of the study were as follows: it was necessary to secure and maintain facilities for the implementation of substantial safety education, to develop and distribute standardized curriculum and materials, and to improve quality of professional instructors. The study suggested implications and future tasks to improve the education effect of safety education facilities in various dimensions.

The major issues that higher education has recently faced are the shortage of students of school age, the changing environment of higher education and the evolving technology. These challenges have urged the university facilities and space to be managing more efficient and more effective. This study assures that the strong strategy is to operate more like business while retaining unique higher education values and a sound facilities management system and appropriate budget help to ensure that university facilities are good for student and teacher's demand. With such faith, this study explores the facilities/space maintaining status and the facility management system of national universities and collages. It finds that there are some problems to adapt new managing methodologies in national universities and that there are also some gaps and perceived constraints to effective space management. This study proposes the alternatives for the facilities managing system that involves the improvement of manpower structure, the expansion of budget scale and the establishment of appropriate facility management system. Finally it provides the practical tools for the effective space and facilities management such as space charging, space standards, central timetabling, space utilisation survey and facilities performance indication.

The purpose of this study was exploring perceptions of people in community towards community use and multiple-use of special school facilities and providing implications for connecting school to the communities. Survey was conducted to special education teachers, parents of children receiving special education, and local residents. Total 5,702 people participated in this study and general finds were as following: (1) All 3 groups of study participants reported that there was a generally positive perception of special schools within the community, however, at the same time, almost quarter of parents having children with disabilities reported negative perceptions of special schools in the community; (2) among the special school facilities, sports facilities appeared to be the most open to the community and difficulties related to the community-open of school facilities included facility management and safety issues, and inteference with students' school activities; (3) facilities suitable for the multi-use of special schools facilities included sports facilities, cultural and creative spaces, and commercial areas, and those facilities could be open to community during non-class hours such as after-school, weekends, and vacations. Based on the results from survey, implications for planning, designing, and implementing multi-use facilities of special schools were provided.
The purpose of this study is to analyze user's behaviors and environmental image to show how to plan dining facilities by checking what factors make user's satisfaction and how inferior factors effect dining people. The spaces in this study are dining facilities in a University. Dining places are campus welfare facilities, students don't have other choice. Dining facilities are determined according to user's desire to convenience and time saying. And this facilities will be compliment to resting places in campus. As we know, functional planing facilities are central element in University Master Plan and must consider interior decoration, surrounding places and some other instruments. Scale of dining facilities must accommodate with many students, therefore dining facilities can served as spare place and resting space.

The opportunity, provided for a direction planning mixed-use facilities for secondary schoo, is the purpose of this paper. Mixed-use facilities are an important issue in school building as it seeks to revive the facilities for local residents in school zone. The latest works of mixed-use facilities in secondary school, however, which are evaluated as well reflected the patterns of education and local community, are still deficient in that communicational elements in secondary school are inadequate. The cases of this paper, which are grown up as an educational building with mixed-use facilities opened to the local residents, are suitable to offer the design method for the future secondary school with mixed-use facilities. This paper reviews an assessment of its success in mixed-use facilities for secondary school as a public building for both of local residents and students and concludes with the establishment of design method for the future school; extraction of the factors contributing to development of mixed-use facilities in school area and proposal of design method; implementation of renewal of mixed-use facilities including educational program and spaces for the creation of identity.
The study performed analysis focusing on specialized convention and exhibition facilities among convention and exhibition facilities in Korea. The procedures and results were as follows: First, by theoretical consideration, meaning and contents of convention and exhibition programs done in convention and exhibition facilities were considered and after that, general characteristics of the programs which were the main of space utilization was derived. Second, considering scale and location, 6 facilities were re-selected for in-depth research from 12 facilities investigated preliminarily. Selected facilities were categorized by scale and through the analysis of programs done in this facilities for the last 1 year, overview and characteristics of utilization for exhibition space, conference space, and multi-purpose space, etc were analyzed. Third, through the case study on the programs, individual characteristics of space utilization by convention and exhibition program were analyzed. From the result of the study, considering the whole, the space utilization of programs was done as conference space rather than exhibition space and the ratio of use as conference space to use as exhibition space was 1.8 in the large facilities, 6.7 and 7.6 in the middle facilities and the small facilities, respectively. In the middle and small facilities, the ratio of use of one room as conference space was very high. In the large facilities, there was no big difference with the ratio 50:50 of the programs involving exhibition to other programs, but in the middle and small facilities, the ratio of the former to the latter was observed over 2.4 and 3.6. This fact indicated that the function of use as promotion and communication space for companies and industrial entities which were the essential purposes became low.

This paper is to find out a possibility that, adapting article 81 of regional finacing law, the community develops community facilities such as gymnagiums, swimming pools, and parking facilities in school site. The study requires an agreement about managements between the mayor and the superintendent of education. This paper also surveys community's needs with respect to use of school facilities before and after class, willingness to pay for the school use, and use of school facilities by private institutions. This paper adopts two experimental case studies to find a feasibility of community building construction in school sites. It also adopts dscriptive analysis of the statistics to find out the degree of willingness to use by community people. It is found, first, that regional finacing law permits community facilities' development in school sites and an agreement between the mayor and the superintendent of education about usage and profits should be made by the rate of construction fee and land cost. The second is that 65.8% of community people want to use school facilities such as gymnasium and school ground. And favorite series of physical exercise is swimming, baminton, tennis in order. The third is that 66.4% of community people have willingness to pay for the use of school facilities. The fourth is that school facilities such as class room, special class room, and computer room can be used by private institutions. 75% of community people agree to use school facilities by the private institutions. Favorite series on these are classes for reviewing the lessons, language classes, classes for playing musical instruments in order.

The recent trend has been consistently raised by the media of educational environment issues such as deteriorated existing school facilities, water-leaks due to the lack of proper maintenance and poor toilet facilities. For the efficient use of the budget to be used for maintenance of school facilities, an effort to extend the life of the facility to the max is needed. However, current maintenance system of school facilities is to deal with the defects after discovered, and consequently the durable period is shortened due to early deterioration of facilities and efficient budget execution cannot be realized. For this reason, the result emphasizes the need to improve maintenance management system of school facilities, and proposes a systematic bill of school facilities maintenance according to expert investigation and correlation analysis through school facilities maintenance-related information that is distributed to a number of laws.
The improvement of the life standard of the public by the economical growth leads their interests to the leisure activities, so that the demand for resort facilities has been increased. Especially, casino resort facilities in Kangwon-Do has been developed continuously without exact concept of casino resort design. This resort facilities has been planned by indiscreet imitation of foreign examples and non-organized developments and etc. One of the reasons for these problems may be from the lack of the knowledges and researches related to the architectural approaching of these facilities. The purpose of this study is to provide the basic informations for better understanding and improvement of planning and design direction for these facilities through a survey the famous casino resort facilities in Las Vegas. As a result of this research, Las Vegas has been changed tremendously from the casino resort to the resort complex for families with special theme and various facilities.

Planning and designing training facilities has been developed from educational facilities, and increasingly diversified society has raised a need for facilities dedicated to training and education in a differentiated space separate from the one for regular works. This particular need of our times has led to the expansion of training facilities nationwide although they have something to be desired when it comes to planning and designing with sustainability associated with the locational characteristics of urban space as well as the unique types of facilities taken into account. Against this backdrop, this study will examined a variety of training facilities that have been established since 2000 through theoretical review and conduct intensive analysis on the characteristics of the planning aspects to suggest their significance and implications and to present the overall meanings and ramifications of planning approaches in consideration of new challenges modern training facilities are faced with, which have been revealed through architectural design competitions in recent years. The relevant implications are as follows. First, one of the locational advantages of training facilities, which is commanding beautiful scenery of the surrounding area, can be considered as intent to stress the aspect of a resort, one of the functions of any training facilities. As this study has demonstrated, many training facilities are located near around a beach or a lake. Second, training facilities can be classified into three different types in terms of their location: urban, suburban and resort and such locational characteristics are directly related to intended programs and differentiated links with target users. Third, the architectural styles of training institutes are differentiated in terms of harmonious arrangement between beautiful natural scenery and buildings in consideration of the layout characteristics of major facilities and the distance of ramps in and out of the facilities along with architectural features, including the transparency of building elevation and the type of slopes of roof structure. Fourth, the individual lodging buildings feature a variety of types depending on the design concept with different roles depending on the directional aspects such as the connection of ramps and the relations with the outside. Fifth, outdoor space plans are differentiated according to the intended purpose of training facilities. When it comes to gym facilities, for example, different outdoor space plans are found to be made depending on the original design concept such as outdoor playground-centered planning or golf facilities.
