  • In this study, the separation of rare earths and aluminium from the dried powder of waste cerium polishing slurry was investigated. Since cerium oxide, 40% of rare earths, is the most stable state in rare earth, the dissolution of cerium oxide in acid solution is not easy. Therefore the dissolution process of cerium oxide by sulfation was examined in order to increase the recovery of rare earth. The rare earths could be separated from aluminum by double salt precipitation using sodium sulfate.

  • In this study, the application of biosensor having a large surface area for more effective and AAO (anomic aluminium oxide) template in order to gain concentration and voltage of anodizing process morphology changes to the control of experiments were conducted. The biosensor surface may increase the response characteristics by having a large surface area. So the entrance to a little more efficient wide depth sensing experiment was carried out to obtain a structure body with a branch shape with a large surface area with increasing. Experimental results from the FE-SEM observation was obtained template morphology. As a result, depending on the anodizing time, the depth of the layer of aluminum oxide was found that it was confirmed that the deepening of the pore size changes according to anodizing condition. And measuring the detection performance according to the conditions in the electrolyte and the reaction because of blood using a biosensor measuring sensing property according to the depth of the pore depth is considered that does not have a significant impact.

  • In this paper, to increase the light current efficiency of photodiode, we fabricated aluminum-doped zinc oxide(AZO) thin films by RF magnetron sputtering. AZO thin films were deposited at low temperature of 100 $^{\circ}C$ and different RF powers of 50, 100, 150 and 200 W due to selective process technology. Then the AZO thin films were annealed at 400 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr in vacuum ambient to increase crystalline. The lowest resistivity of 1.35 ${\times}$ $10^{-3}$ ${\Omega}cm$ and a high transmittance over 90 % were obtained under the conditions of 3 mTorr, 100 'c and 150 W. The optimized AZO thin films were deposited as anti-reflection coating on PN junction of silicon photodiode. It was confirmed by the result of $V_r-I_{ph}$ curve that the efficiency of photodiode with AZO thin film was enhanced 17 % more than commercial photodiode.

  • In this study, plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method was used to from anodic oxide films on Al alloy and their resistance and morphological characteristics were investigated as a function of film formation voltage and treatment time. Cross-sectional morphology and composition of the PEO films were analyzed by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy). The PEO films showed increased surface roughness and thickness with of film formation voltage and treatment time. The wear resistance was found to be the best for the PEO film formed for 5 min at 500V which is attributed to be denser structure relatively and lower surface roughness.

  • With the development of nanotechnology, the amount of nanomaterials increases and the problems of environment and the toxic property associated with it have become a social problem. But regulations and laws of nanomaterials have not yet been established. The purpose of this study is to utilize as the database of safety guidelines for research activities' workers associated with nanomaterials to conduct a behavior evaluation of aluminium oxide, which is most widely used in thirteen kinds of WPMN manufactured nanomaterials in the country. The experiment proceeds in the chamber reduced to 1/6 size of the actual laboratory, the test method was performed in NIOSH 0500. As the results of the study, the mass concentration was in inverse proportion to the particle size of the nanomaterials. And the mass concentration during the operation of ventilation equipment was reduced to about 1/8 times. In the future, it can be utilized as the database of safety guidelines for research activities' workers associated with nanomaterials. However, in order to increase the reliability of the study, the experiment of the mass concentration by particle size and Condensation Particle Counters will be needed additionally.

  • An Al film deposited on the Kovar alloy substrate was anodically-bonded to the borosilicate glass, and the bond interfaces was closely investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Al oxide was found to form a layer ~l0 nm thick at the bond interface, and fibrous structure of the same oxide was found to grow epitaxially in the glass from the oxide layer. The fibrous structure grew with the bonding time. The mechanism of the formation of this fibrous structure is proposed on the basis of the migration of Al ions under the electric field. Penetration of Al into glass beyond the interfacial Al oxide was not detected. The comparison of the amount of excess oxygen ions generated in the alkali depletion layer with that incorporated in the Al oxide suggests that the growth of the alkali-ion depletion layer is controlled by the consumption of excess oxygen to form the interfacial Al oxide.

  • In this study, we manufactured the anodized alumina oxide (AAO) template and fabricated the carbon nanofibers and manganese oxide nanofibers using AAO template for application to electrochemical capacitor. Pore diameters of the AAO template were increased from 50 to 90 nm by increasing the acid treatment time after two-step anodizing process. Furthermore nanofibers, which is fabricated by AAO template, showed uniform diameter and micro structure. It is suggested that the surface area is larger than commercial electrode material and it is enhancing the energy density by increasing the specific capacitance.
