  • For the ${\gamma}$-ray spectrometry analysis of radium and radon in environmental samples, plastic Marinelli beakers have been usually used. But, there are two problems; one is the increment of background by adsorption of airborne radon daughters on the plastic beaker, and other is the incompleteness of radioactive equilibrium by the loss of gaseous radon produced during the radioactive equilibrium process. In order to solve these problems, we made aluminium counting container, and investigated its characteristics. We investigated radioactive equilibrium process using the aluminium container. We found that both solid and liquid samples reached at radioactive equilibrium state in the aluminium container without loss of gaseous radon. By the use of the aluminium container, we established radon and radium analysis method of solid and liquid samples using gamma-ray spectrometry.

  • A series of test were undertaken in order to estabilish the effect of different milling variables on dimension and quality of aluminium flake powder. Milling conditions such as initial powder size, milling container rotation speed, milling time, and ball size were varied to produce aluminium flake powder. Flake powder could then be obtained with size range from 15 $\mu$m to 40 $\mu$m with a maximum specific surface area of 5 $m^{2}$/g by controlling milling conditions. Diameter of milled powders with different milling container rotation speed and ball size were compared with that obtained from theoretical model. The best flake powder was obtained in milling condition of initial powder with average size of 19 $\mu$m, mill container rotation speed of 80 rpm, balls of 9.5 mm diameter, and milling time of 40 hours.

  • The objective of this paper is to study burst through the influence of overheating to affect a seamed container using the cookers with different materials and bottom sizes. Following result are drawn from this study; When bottom size of the roast meat had 24cm diameter, the upper part temperature of a seamed container was increased over $40^{\circ}C$. Therefore the cooker material without regard to cooker size had a great influence on the temperature of seamed container. For the natural stone plate which had bottom length 65cm, a seamed container was burst at the cooker temperature $801^{\circ}C$, the surface temperature of a burner $573^{\circ}C$. the upside temperature of seamed container $379^{\circ}C$, the downside temperature of seamed container $236^{\circ}C$ and ambient temperature $34^{\circ}C$. For the cooker of the same bottom area, the stone plate had greater influence on effect of temperature than aluminium cooker. Overheating had a great influence on the seamed container if the bottom or upside diameter of a cooker had been larger than a trivet.

  • The bending phenomenon has been known to be occurred by the different of velocity at the die exit. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container and by the cohesion of billet inside the porthole die chamber. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by the different hole diameter. The experiments using aluminium material for the curved tube product had been done. The results of the experiment show that the curved tube product can be formed by the extru-bending process without the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube and the folding and wrinkling. It is known that the welding and extruding of each billet has done simultaneously although the curved tube is extruded with four billets.

  • Gas pressure sintering is a promising process in various densification methods of high strength Si3N4 ceramics. Environmental influences on gas pressure sintering of Si3N4 was investigated with the variationof packing powder, specimen container and N2 gas pressure. The specimens had higher density, larger weight loss and inhomogeneous color in graphite specimen container than in SN26 crucible. The variations of sintering densities in various packing powders (Si3N4, SN26, AlN, BN) were very small but SiC powder was synthesised in graphite crucible with Si3N4 packing powder, aluminium oxynitride compounds were synthesised in SN26 crucible with AlN packing power. Also N2 gas pressure over 20kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ reduced the densification of Si3N4 in one step-gas pressure sintering. As the result of two step-gas pressure sintering at 700kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for 15min., relative density of 99.9% and 3-point bending strength of 1090MPa and dense microstructure of 3~4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ grain size were obtained.

  • To simulate two-dimensional plane-strain conditions in the laboratory model test, the side frictional resistance between the soil and thick glass or plastic sheet of the soil container should be reduced as much as possible. However, in fact this side friction cannot be removed completely. In this paper, the ground model simulated as a multi-sized aluminium rod mixture was introduced to get rid of the side frictional resistance and applied to the laboratory shear box test. In addition, an application of the close range photogrammetric technique to the shear box test was validated. As a result, it was found that a mean value of dilation angle from the close range photogrammetry was close to the dilation angle defined by the curve of shear strain vs. volumetric strain.

  • The bending phenomenon during extruding one product using four billets can be obtain by the difference of hole diameters in the multi-hole container. The difference of hole diameter caused the difference of billet amount inserted in the die cavity. As results, it can bend during extruding products by the different amount of two billets and by the cohesion of billets in the porthole dies cavity. And the bending curvature can be controlled by the size of holes and billets. The experiments using aluminium material had been done for the rectangular and square curved tube product. The results of the experiment show that the curved aluminum tube product can be bended by the extru-bending process without the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube and the folding and wrinkling. The curvature of product is affected by shape of cross section and the difference of billet diameters. It is known that the welding and extruding and bending can be done simultaneously in the die cavity when a rectangular hollow curved tube would be extruded by porthole dies using four different size billets made of aluminum material.

  • In this paper, the clamping type forging of helical gears has been investigated. Clamping type forging is an operation in which the product is constrained to extrude sideways through an orifice in the container wall. Punch is cylindrical shaped. The punch compresses a cylindrical bilet placed in a die insetr. As a consequence the material flows in a direction perpendicular to that of punch movement. The forging has been analysed by using the upper-bound method. A kinematically admissible velocity field has been developed, wherein, an involute curve has been introduce to re4present tooth profile of the gear. Numerical calculations have been carried out to investigate the effects of various parameters, such as module, number of teeth, helix angle, friction factor and initial height of billet on the forging of helical gears. Some firgiing experiments were catrried out with aluminium alloy to show the validity of the analysis. Good agreement was found between the predicted values of the forging load and obtained from the experimental results.

  • The effect of ball milling conditions in the milling of aluminium foil scraps was studied. Initial foil thickness, ball size. content of oleic acid. weight ratio of mineral spirits/foil. charged amount of foil were varied in wet ball milling process. It is impossible to make flake powders by milling of foil scraps with thickness $120 \mum$. As foil thickness decreases from $60\mum$ to $6.5\mum$, Mean size of powder milled for 30 h decreases from 107 µm to 17 µm. Bigger ball is slightly beneficial for milling of foils to the flake powders due to the larger impact energy produced by them. It is impossible to mill the foil without oleic acid to fabricate the flake powder. As content of oleic acid increases from 1.5 % to 5 %, mean size of flake powder milled for 30 h is drastically decreased. For the mineral spirits content below 50 %, foil scrap was not milled because sliding motion of balls by lubricant effect between balls and wall of container. As weight ratio of mineral spirits and foil increase over 100 %, foils were milled powders with mean powder size 15 - 20 때 irrespective of mineral spirits content due to reduced lubricant effect. As charged amount of foil decreases, mean powder size decreases due to increased collision frequency between ball and foil.

  • The Characteristics of heat transport in the heat pipe with a double vapor path and different kinds of the working fluid were investigated experimentally. The Experiment was carried out with acetone/ethanol. ethanol/ethanol. and in the aluminium container of the double vapor path. Performance measurements can be operated at the high level by 24000 w/m2 heat flux in the 1000mm evaporator. They are each estimated at the high temperature and experimentally reviewed the characteric of the heat rejection. The results shew that they are stably operated under each condition and the fluid was complemented each other at the fluid's experiment and brought about the extention of operating temperature. In this study, The reliable basic data obtained by the teste in the heat pipe with a double vapor path can be used for thermal design, manufacture, and production etc.
