  • In this paper we have considered a system of mixed generalized variational inequality problems defined on two different domains in a Hilbert space. It has been shown that the solution of a system of mixed generalized variational inequality problems is equivalent to altering point formulation of some mappings. A new parallel S-iteration type process has been considered which converges strongly to the solution of a system of mixed generalized variational inequality problems.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce a class of contractive pairs of mappings satisfying a Zamfirescu-type inequality, but controlled with altering distance functions and with parameters satisfying the so-called Geraghty condition in the framework of b-metric spaces. For this class of mappings we prove the existence of points of coincidence, the convergence and stability of the Jungck, Jungck-Mann and Jungck-Ishikawa iterative processes and the existence and uniqueness of its common fixed points.

  • In any production and construction of geospatial information covering surveying, survey control point is a vital geospatial information. Survey control points in South Korea are currently classified as following: national control points, public control points, and cadastral control points. Each of these different categories of survey control points act as a basis and sets perimeters for the production, management and operation of subjects within the category. Universal standard, the unified format between different survey control points, also, are not yet defined, causing difference in basic information provided by altering categories and disturbance in connecting, managing, utilizing and operating survey control points. Establishment of a standard regarding survey control points, is therefore required for the efficacy of their utilization. This study, to solve such inadequacies, selects management items for creation of standardized survey control point, by investigating domestically and internationally the status of operating survey control points, determining data model for management, establishing TTA and agency standards, and establishing of activation methodology for survey control point standards.

  • In recent times control functions have been used in several problems of metric fixed point theory. Also weak inequalities have been considered in a number of works on fixed points in metric spaces. Here we have incorporated a control function in certain weak inequalities. We have established two fixed point theorems for mapping satisfying such inequalities. Our results are supported by examples.

  • Moonpools are vertical wells in a floating body used onboard many types of vessels like Exploration and drilling vessels, Production barges, Cable-laying vessels, Rock dumping vessels, Research and offshore support vessels. Moonpool gives passage to underwater activities for different types of ships as per their mission requirements. It is observed that inside a moonpool considerable relative motions may occur, depending on shape, depth of the moonpool and on the frequency range of the waves to which the ship is exposed. The vessel responses are entirely different in zero and non-zero Froude number. Former situation is paid attention in this study as the mission requirement of the platform is to be in the particular location for long period of operation. It is well known that there are two modes of responses depending on the shape of the moonpool viz., piston mode for square shape and sloshing mode for rectangular shapes with different aspect ratios of opening like 1:1.5 and 1:2 ratios. Circular shaped moonpool is also tested for measuring the responses. The vessel moored using heavy lines are modelled and tested in the wave basin. The pretensions of the lines are varied by altering the touchdown points and the dynamic tensions on the lines are measured. The different modes of oscillations of water column are measured using wave gauge and the vessel response at a particular situation is determined. RAOs calculated for various situations provide better insight to the designer.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Relocation to new environments can have a negative impact on health by altering body weight and dietary patterns. This study attempted to elucidate changes in body weight, food security, and their current food and nutrient consumption in adult North Korean refugees (NKR) living in South Korea (SK). SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study analyzed data on 149 adult NKR from a North Korean refugee health in SK cohort at four time points (leaving North Korea, entering SK, first examination, and second examination). Body weight was self-reported at the two earlier time points and directly measured at the two later time points. Food security, diet-related behaviors (dietary habits and food consumption), and sociodemographic information were obtained using a self-administered questionnaire. Nutrient intake information was obtained by one-day 24-hour recall. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS ver 23.0. RESULTS: Body weight increased during relocation by an average of 4 kg, although diversified patterns were observed during the settlement period in SK. Approximately 39.6% of subjects maintained their body weight between the first and second examinations, whereas 38.6% gained and 22.1% lost at least 3% of their body weight at the first examination by the second examination. Food security status improved from 12.1% food secure proportion to 61.7%. NKR showed generally good food and nutrient consumption (index of nutrient quality: 0.77-1.93). The body weight loss group showed the most irregular meal consumption pattern (P < 0.05), and eating-out was infrequent in all three groups. Consumption frequencies of food groups did not differ by group, except in the fish group (P = 0.036). CONCLUSION: This study observed considerable body weight adjustment during the settlement period in SK after initial weight gain, whereas food security consistently improved. More detailed understanding of this process is needed to assist healthy settlement for NKR in SK.

  • Recently, the new finite element method which uses NURBS as shape functions was proposed. It is very promising because it can directly use CAD data to describe geometry and discretize problem domain. In this case, CAE models are not approximated but represent exact geometry. So, it can contribute to more accurate results. In addition, it can greatly reduce CAE costs in that simulation models don't have to be made up independently. But in spite of these advantages, the method using NURBS have also some disadvantages. NURBS surface cannot be refined locally. T-splines are recently developed surface modeling technique. A T-spline surface is a NURBS surface with T-junctions and is defined by a control grid called T-mesh. The T-junctions enable T-spline surfaces to be refined locally. That is, it is possible to add a single control point to a T-spline control grid without propagating an entire row or column of control points and without altering the surface. In this research, the finite element analysis using T-splines is studied. In this analysis, CAD data are used directly for engineering analysis. Some problems with complex geometry are solved. And the results will be compared with ones of conventional FEM.

  • The process model of emotion regulation suggests that cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression engage at different time points in the regulation process. Although multiple brain regions and networks have been identified for each strategy, no articles have explored changes in network characteristics or network connectivity over time. The present study examined (a) the whole-brain network and six other resting-state networks, (b) their modularity and global efficiency, which is an index of the efficiency of information exchange across the network, (c) the degree and betweenness centrality for 160 brain regions to identify the hub nodes with the most control over the entire network, and (d) the intra-network and inter-network functional connectivity (FC). Such investigations were performed using a traditional large-scale FC analysis and a relatively recent sliding window correlation analysis. The results showed that the right inferior orbitofrontal cortex was the hub region of the whole-brain network for both strategies. The present findings of temporally altering functional activity of the networks revealed that the default mode network (DMN) activated at the early stage of reappraisal, followed by the task-positive networks (cingulo-opercular network and fronto-parietal network), emotion-processing networks (the cerebellar network and DMN), and sensorimotor network (SMN) that activated at the early stage of suppression, followed by the greater recruitment of task-positive networks and their functional connection with the emotional response-related networks (SMN and occipital network). This is the first study that provides neuroimaging evidence supporting the process model of emotion regulation by revealing the temporally varying network efficiency and intra- and inter-network functional connections of reappraisal and suppression.

  • High-temperature superconducting joints between 61 filaments of Bi-2223 tapes were fabricated by chem-ical corrosion and repeated thermomechanical process. The silver sheath of the superconducting tape was chemically removed using chemical etchant(NH4OH:H2O2=1:1) from one side of each tape without altering the form of lap joint. The joined region was formed by uniaxial pressing and a series of thermomechanical process and then subjected to properties measurement and microstructural analysis. The critical current(Ic) variation and I-V characteristics along the joint were mesured with several configuration of proble points. Ic value of the transition region of the joint inthe multifilament tape which limit the total current carring capacity of the superconducting tape was higher than that of monofilament tape. But the transition ex-ponent n-value of the multi-filament tape was lower than that of monofilament wire due to the interaction of the individual superconducting core of the multi-filament. The critical current through the joint area was improved by respeated press and reaction annealing treatment.

  • Currently, due to the serious world-wide air pollution by substances emitted from vehicles, emission control is enforced more firmly and it is expected that the regulation requirements for emission will become more severe. A new concept combustion technology that can reduce the NOx and PM in relation to combustion is urgently required. This study used a split injection method at a 4 cylinder common-rail direct injection diesel engine in order to apply the partially premixed charge compression ignition combustion method without significantly altering engine specifications And it is investigated that the effects of the injection ratio and SCV(swirl control valve) to emission characteristics. From these tests, soot(g) and NOx(g) emission could be reduced to 40% and 92% compared to base engine performance at specified engine driving conditions(6 points with weight factors) according to application of split injection and SCV(swirl control valve).
