Health Care Optimization by Maximizing the Air-Ambulance Operation Time

  • Employing the available technologies and utilizing the advanced means to improve the level of health care provided to citizens in their various locations. Citizens have the right to get a proper health care services despite the location of their residency or the distance from the health care delivery centers, a goal that can be achieved by utilizing air ambulance systems. In such systems, aircrafts and their life spans are the essential component, the flight duration of the aircraft during its life span is determined by the maintenance schedule. This research, enhances the air ambulance systems by presenting a proposal that maximizes the aircraft flight duration during its life span. The enhancement will be reached by developing a set of algorithms that handles the aircraft maintenance problem. The objective of these algorithms is to minimize the maximum completion time of all maintenance tasks, thus increasing the aircraft operation time. Practical experiments performed to these algorithms showed the ability of these algorithms to achieve the desired goal. The developed algorithms will manage the maintenance scheduling problem to maximize the uptime of the air ambulance which can be achieved by maximizing the minimum life of spare parts. The developed algorithms showed good performance measures during experimental tests. The 3LSL algorithm showed a higher performance compared to other algorithms during all performed experiments.

  • Continuous airworthiness system is comprised of regulations and procedures to assure the safety and reliability through the total stage of development, certification and operation of aircraft. The purpose of this system is not only to provide the guidelines that should be kept by manufacturers and operators, but also to evaluate the maintenance capability in every activity of safety related procedures. During the development process of the mid and large size aircraft, operational experience should be reflected systematically for a safer and more reliable product by using the meaningful data base from operation. The relationship of safety roles between manufacturer and operator is mutually complementary, and the roles of each function have an influence to the next step. Overall structure of the procedure contains the concept of continuous analysis and feedback to achieve highest degree of safety and reliability during the entire life of aircraft. Finally, this paper describes how the feedback is made and used for aircraft design from operational experience under the continuous analysis and surveillance system.

Fault Tree를 활용한 항공기 격납고 소화시스템의 화재 안전성 분석 (Fire Safety Analysis of Fire Suppression System for Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Using Fault Tree Method)

  • 항공기 정비 격납고는 고가의 항공기를 보관하거나 정비, 점검등을 하는 건축물로 화재발생 빈도는 낮지만 화재발생 시 인적, 물적 피해가 매우 클 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Fault tree를 이용하여 현재 운용중인 항공기 정비 격납고 소화시스템의 화재 안전성에 대한 정성적 분석을 시행하고, 도출된 기본사상에 대한 고장률 자료를 활용하여 정량적 분석을 실시한 후 정상사상의 발생 확률에 대한 Minimal cut set의 중요도를 분석하였다. Minimal cut set에 의한 정성적 분석결과 항공기 격납고 포헤드 소화시스템의 화재제어 실패로 대형화재로 확대될 수 있는 사고경로는 14개라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 정량적인 분석 결과 대형화재로 확대될 확률은 $2.08{\times}E-05/day$이며, Minimal cut set의 중요도 분석 결과 화재 발생 시 4개의 Minimal cut set 즉, 구역별 화재 감지기 및 포헤드 동작과 항공기 날개 및 Fire plume에 의한 소화약제 차단이 동일하게 24.95%로 대형화재로 확대될 가능성의 대부분을 차지하였으며, 항공기 정비 격납고의 포헤드 소화시스템은 항공기 날개 하부화재에 대한 적응성이 없어 개선이 필요한 것으로 Fault tree를 이용하여 처음 확인하였다.

  • Aviation Maintenance Technician(AMT)'s error is not directly link to deficiency which is differ to flight crew's error and it potentially maintains. Due to it usually occur as undesired aircraft state, hazards, like unreported maintenance error or near miss fortunately undetected and are not develop to accident. This could be a crucial influence of an accident occurrence. To remove these hazards, just safety culture should be support that anyone can report about safety problems and person who reported safety problems and hazards like near miss, should not get disadvantages. Also if it is satisfied, they must exempt for punishment and guaranteed for security. Hence, on this study, aviation maintenance site's just culture need to be researched and analysed about improvement for aviation maintenance field's positive just culture.

3D모델링 SW를 활용한 군용 항공기 3D 정비매뉴얼 개발 (Implementation of 3D maintenance manual for Military aircrafts using 3D modeling software)

  • 군용 항공기에 대한 모든 정비작업은 항공기 정비매뉴얼의 내용을 기반으로 수행되고 있다. 많은 정비 작업 가운데 특히 부품의 교환작업은 정비작업 가운데에서도 그 비중이 가장 높다. 부품의 교환작업에서는 부품의 형상 파악과 부품간의 체결관계 및 작업절차에 대한 정확한 이해가 대단히 중요하다. 그러나 군은 물론 민간에서 사용되는 정비매뉴얼은 모두 정비작업절차를 간단한 설명과 개략적인 그림으로 표현하고 있어 정확한 작업절차는 물론 부품의 형상을 이해하는데도 어려움이 있다. 반면에 항공기 부품을 3D 모델로 제작한다면 부품을 자유로운 방향에서 관찰할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 3D 모델링 SW에서만 가능한 강력한 가시화(visualization) 기능을 통해 내부형상이나 체결관계도 쉽게 확인이 가능하다. 특히 정비작업을 3D 애니메이션으로 제작하면 실제와 동일한 순서로 정비작업을 3D 영상으로 관찰할 수 있어 작업절차를 직관적으로 파악하는데 도움이 될 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 3D 모델링 SW인 Solidworks를 활용한 3D 정비매뉴얼 개발방법을 제안하고 이에 따라 B747 항공기의 통합구동발전기 교환작업에 대한 3D 정비매뉴얼을 개발하였다. 또 개발된 3D 정비매뉴얼을 기존매뉴얼과 비교하여 그 장단점을 파악하였다. 정비매뉴얼에서 부품 교환에 대한 내용은 기종에 관계없이 비슷하므로 본 연구에서 제안된 방법은 군용항공기용 정비매뉴얼 개발에도 충분히 적용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

  • In this study, it is to contribute to Korean aviation safe system as well as the improvement of the domestic(Korean) aviation mechanic qualification examination system by comparing and contrasting with the advanced aviation mechanic qualification examination system of ICAO, FAA and EASA. In addition, by reforming and improving Korean aviation mechanic qualification examination system, it can be achieved to keep the international competitiveness and can be authenticated even in international standardized countries in aviation mechanic qualification examination system.

개인적인 요인이 항공정비사의 안전행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Individual Factors on Safety Behavior of Aircraft Maintenance Technician)

  • As the domestic aviation industry grows, the aviation maintenance field is also growing rapidly. This change calls for more aircraft maintenance technicians, and interest in safety accidents is also increasing. Individual safety climate indicates the importance of safety in the organization. We expect that three individual factors (training effectiveness, procedure effectiveness, and work pressure) relate to safety behavior in the workplace via individual safety climate. The purpose of this research is investigating the relationship between individual factors and aircraft maintenance technician's safety behavior. Previous studies related to individual factors were examined for literature review. Based on the previous studies, research model was constructed. Hypothesis was verified by effected data from 305 samples were employed for final survey. The results show that individual factors were meaningful factors to effect perceived safety behavior, and safety knowledge & safety motivation were related to safety compliance & safety participation.

CVP 분석을 이용한 전투기 외부 도장면 제거 공정의 경제성 분석 (An Economical Efficiency Analysis of De-painting Process for Fighter Jets using CVP Analysis)

  • The Korean Air-Force aircraft maintenance depot paints the exterior of various aircraft, including high-tech fighters. Aircraft exterior painting is a maintenance process for long-term life management by preventing damage to the aircraft surface due to corrosion. The de-painting process is essential to ensure the quality of aircraft exterior paints. However, because the Korean Air-Force's de-painting process is currently done with sanding or Plastic Media Blasting (PMB) method, it is exposed to harmful dust and harmful compounds and consumes a lot of manpower. This study compares the de-painting process currently applied by the ROK Air-Force and the more improved process of the US Air Force, and performs economic analysis for the introduction of advanced equipment. It aims to provide information that can determine the optimal time to introduce new facilities through Cost-Volume-Profit (CVP) analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the sanding method had the most economical efficiency up to 2 units per year, the PMB method from 3 to 21 units, and the laser method from 22 units or more. In addition, in a situation where the amount of de-painting work is expected to increase significantly due to the increase in fighters in future, BEP analysis was conducted on the expansion of the existing PMB method and the introduction of a new laser method. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that it is more economical to introduce the laser method when the amount of work exceeds the PMB work capacity(18 units per year). The paper would helpful to improve the productivity and quality of the Korean Air Force Aircraft maintenance depot through timely changes of facilities in the workplace in preparation for expansion.

반디호 전기계통 설계 (Design of the Firefly Electrical System)

  • 반디호 전기계통 설계 시 성능외에 추가로 고려한 사항은 정비성 향상이다. 기존의 소형항공기들의 경우 전기계통의 정비성은 엔진이나 다른 계통에 비해 현저히 떨어진다. 그 결과 전기계통 문제 해결을 위한 정비 시간과 인력이 많이 소모되고 있다. 반디호의 경우 설계 단계에서부터 모듈화 개념을 도입하여 전기계통의 세부 모듈들의 분리를 가능하게 하여 각 모듈별로 정비가 가능하게 함으로써 정비가 편리하도록 하였다. 본 논문에서는 반디호 전기계통의 설계 및 제작에 대하여 기술하였다.

  • Airframe maintenance is regarded the most important maintenance action in airlines as the aircraft is the most valuable asset in their operation though the volume of airframe maintenance is the last in MRO market. In the selecting process of airframe MRO provider many kinds of evaluation criteria should be considered such as quality, expenses, TAT, capability, and customer support. This paper will suggest the way to select the airframe MRO in airlines and MRO business sectors using AHP.
