  • This study is intended to investigate the engineering properties of concrete, in which cement and fine aggregate are replaced with cement kiln dust(CKD), such as the properties of fresh concrete and hardened concrete and hydration heat history, for effective using method of CKD, a by-product produced in the process of making cement. According to the results, as the replacing ratio of CKD increases, slump and air content of concrete decreases remarkably due to an increase of viscosity and filling of the pores. As the properties of setting, initial and final setting time are shortened with an increase of the replacing ratio of CKD, and as the replacement of CKD for fine aggregate increases, setting time is shortened more greatly. Compressive strength increases due to filling of the pores and reduction of air content in comparison with plain concrete. When the replacement ratio of CKD for cement is 10% and 15%, peak temperature of hydration heat lowers slightly, but it goes up in the case of replacement of CKD for fine aggregate. Also, when cement and fine aggregate is replaced with CKD by 2.5% and 7.5% respectively(1C3S) in the case of replacement of CKD for cement and fine aggregate, it is highest.

  • This study is about the mortar in which fine aggregate is substituted by low-carbon eco-friendly inorganic composite prepared by addition of alkali accelerator in industrial by-products such as blast furnace slag, red mud and silica fume as a replacement for cement. Results of experiments on flow and strength properties in mortar of inorganic composite according to replacement rate of fine aggregate showed that amount of air and table flow decreased as replacement rate of fine aggregate about inorganic composite got higher. Also, it's shown that the compressive strength was the highest at replacement rate 50% of fine aggregate about inorganic composite.

  • Ferronickel slag is a by-product from the ferronickel smelting process and it is divided into air-cooled ferronickel slag and water granulated ferronickel slag according to cooling system. The purpose of this experimental resesrch is to investigate the mechanical properties and resistance to freezing and thawing of concrete using air-cooled ferronickel slag(ACFNS) fine aggregate. For this purpose, the concrete specimens with water-cement ratio of 50% were made with ACFNS's replacement ratios of 0%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 70%, and 100% by volume of fine aggregate. It was observed from the test results that the compressive strength and static modulus of elasticity of ACFNS fine aggregate concrete were increased with increasing replacement ratio of ACFNS and the resistance to freezing and thawing of this was similar to reference concrete which had the relative dynamic modulus of elasticity of more than 90% during the freezing and thawing of 300 cycles.

  • According as industry develops rapidly, problem of resources exhaustion and environmental pollution is appearing. Way to use construction waste that is development of new compound material and Industry product is required. Limestone powder that is Industry product is $CaCO_3$. and vicosity is promotion effect because there is no damage to hydration of cement and powder is very thin and water tightness increases. This research purposed to analyze concrete property changing limestone fineness. According as the limestone powdered replacement ratio increases, slump and unit capacity mass increased, and the air content decreased according as the replacement ratio increases. Compressive strength and tensile strength decreased according as the limestone powder replacement ratio increases.

  • This study analyzed flowing and strength properties of mortar depending to fine aggregate types and replacement ratio by using blast furnace slag, red mud, and silica fume that are industrial by products. The findings showed that higher replacement level of fine aggregate increased air content while decreased table flow. In addition, compressive strength showed that the higher replacement level was regardless of fine aggregate types, the lower strength became. Mortar substituted by the dredged sand showed high strength.

  • This study analyzed and compared the flowing and strength properties of mortar depending on the different fine aggregate replacement ratios and whether or not the mixing of PVA fiber was applied. blast furnace slag, red mud, and silica fume that are industrial by-products were used for the analysis. The findings showed that higher replacement level of fine aggregate increased air content while decreasing the table flow. In addition, in case of the compressive strength, Plain mortar and PVA fiber with the replacement ratios of 15% and 30%, respectively showed the greatest strength development.

  • For this study, a test was conducted on the basic polymer property depending on the replacement amount of polymer. The result showed that the flow of slump was increased with the increase of polymer replacement amount and an amount of air entraining. In addition, with a decrease of unit W/B, an amount of bleeding was reduced, and the first and final time for 6% replacement amount was found to be the fastest. This implies that replacement of more than 6% may affect the hydration of cement.

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the properties of cement matrix using diatomite and silica gel as adsorbents of radon. The adsorption properties of diatomite of a natural adsorbent and silica gel of an artificial sorbent were examined to confirm the reduction of radon gas concentration of the removal of radon gas in the indoor environment of the human body. We conducted a performance evaluation for the study. The fluidity, air content, density, absorption, flexural failure load, thermal conductivity and radon gas concentration of the specimen using diatomite and silica gel were measured. the fluidity and the air content of the adsorbed matrix with diatomite were decreased as the diatomite replacement ratio increased. Which seems to affect the subsequent matrix by the absorption of the compounding water of diatomite. As the replacement rate of silica gel increased, the fluidity decreased and the air content increased up to constant replacement rate. It is judged that the surface of the silica gel has a critical point at which it can react with moisture.
