20 preservice teachers at college level participated in this study and interacted with students at elementary and middle school levels during science camp offered by science center in Taiwan. Preservice teachers displayed moderate (above the average, 4 point out of 5) understandings about scientific literacy and scientific views in all aspects of the nature of science before the camp. Then, the researchers designed science camp programs which were expected to promote students' scientific literacy; scientific knowledge, inquiry skills for experimentation as well as for argumentation, affective domain such as the attitude toward science and the understandings about nature of science and the relationship among STS (Science-Technology-Society), all of which were embedded in the programs. Preservice teachers seemed to perceive scientific literacy pretty well (over 4 point) before the camp, however, preservice teachers' understandings about scientific literacy were not much scored (around 3 point, but still moderate scores of average) as expected after concrete inquiry activities. The reasons why this happened could be that preservice teachers were not trained to employ theory into the context to be more practical or the researchers did not develop camp program which included the aspect of scientific literacy successfully. The discussion and implication were made in teacher education in that preservice teachers must be prepared how to bridge theory into practice, and informal science education in that educators at science centers must be trained to be experts in providing the envisioned educational programs to meet the goal of science education, scientific literacy.

The purpose of this study was to examine about effect for class of disadvantaged gifted student. For this, twenty-one item-questionnaires were giver to fifty three students at third graders in four elementary gifted schools located in Ulsan. The result of this study were as follows: First, the elementary school cognitive aspects of disadvantaged gifted class from the result of the effectiveness, 3rd grade students surveyed were all positive. Most of the students about help in learning, record enhancement, presentation skills, resources utilization, problem solving, study skills, creativity and confidence in learning in 77.3% of students answered that they had a positive influence Second, the elementary school affective aspects of disadvantaged gifted calss from the result of the effectiveness, 3rd students surveyed were all positive. Most of students about study habits, attitude, interest in studying, studying aspects related to the confidence and positive in 67.3% of students answered that they were affected. Third, the elementary school social and cultural aspects of disadvantaged gifted class from the result of the effective, 3rd students surveyed were all positive. Most of the students about teachers, students, parents, and efficient use of time for study 70.9% of students answered that they had a positive influence. Fourth, the elementary school private aspects of disadvantaged gifted class from the result of the effective, 3rd grade students surveyed were all positive. Most of the students about reliance on private tutoring classes, interest, record enhancement in 65.1% of students answered that they had a positive influence.
The purposes of this study are to look into the changing processes of mathematical beliefs and attitudes of the students and to propose the plans how to manage cooperative learning, what can contribute to cognitive affective domains of mathematics learning in applying STAD-based cooperative loaming to mathematics class. So we, the researchers performed cooperative learning in the fifth grade of elementary school and did the exams of mathematical beliefs and attitudes, interviews, supplementary Questions. And students showed meaningful changes in 'the need of cooperative learning', 'critical thinking', 'the acceptance of thoughts of others'. Meanwhile, there were possibilities what all the members of one group can't recognize their errors in STAD, so we proposed 'Tongsinsa'. And we presented concrete methods how to reconstruct groups and somethings to consider when students are not satisfied with the group activities.
The purposes of this study were to develop and validate Korean MHBT for identification of giftedness. MHBT in this study consists of KFT-HB and MHBT-5. MHBT-S was composed of 1) space presentation and thinking ability, space perception,. physics/technic tasks 2) affective domain; creativity, achievement motivation, desire of knowledge, social competence questionnaire 3) performance attitude questionnaire 4) interest questionnaire. The subject were 489 middle school students (1 or 2grade) in the education centers for gifted youth and general classes. Except a few subscales, internal consistent reliability was considered good. Korean MHBT discriminated well gifted students from general students in KFT-HB and some subtests of MHBT-5. As results, Korean MHBT in this study was expected to be a reliable and valid instrument for identification of korean gifted students.

The purpose of this study was to explore the parents and child relationship in traditional Korean society through the Korean classic novels. The Data were analyzed through latent content analysis in focusing on the parents and child relationship. Forty-six Korean classic novels written in Chosun Dynasty (from 1392 to 1910 AD) were chosen to analyze and they were represented the characteristic Confucian ideas. The sentences containing the expression of child-care and parent-child relationship were selected during intensive reading line by line and analyzed. Sixty-nine meaningful concepts were drawn out from 258 significant sentences by the similar meaning and common theme and classified as 3 categories and 11 sub-categories. The important parent-child relationship expressed in Korean traditional society were as follows: From the category of the Meaning of Child, 4 sub-categories were drawn; gift of heaven, successor of the family line, driving power of life, and rewards from the offspring. From the category of attitude to the child, 3 sub-categories were drawn; a notion of preferring a son to a daughter, close maternal-child relation, and expectation to the future of child. From the category of nurturing behavior, 4 subjects were drawn; Tae-Gyo(fetal education), affective behavior, socialization, and health management behavior. Above result helps to improve the basic understanding the relationship of parent and child in modern society. And by the understanding of child in the family, unhealthy relationship of parent and child can be prevented and furthermore family centered child health promotion can be achieved.
The purposes of this study were to examine whether the e-promotion interest was an influencing variable on promotion-acceptance attitudes, browsing, consumer satisfaction and e-loyalty, and to investigate the predictors for e-loyalty of shopping mall according to e-promotion interests. A questionnaire was developed based on the previous researches. Data were obtained from 555 adults who had purchased fashion products in online shopping. Data were analyzed using by factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, t-test and regression. The results showed that consumers with high e-promotion interests were more likely to accept e-promotions affectively and behaviorally, to have hedonic and utilitarian browsing, to satisfy the online shopping, and to make e-loyalty compared to them with low e-promotion interests. For high interested group in e-promotion, the more cognitive and affective attitudes toward promotion acceptance they were the greater e-loyalty in the context of online shopping for fashion products. Additionally, the more hedonic browsing and satisfy the online shopping they were the greater e-loyalty of shopping mall at Internet. However, for low interested group in e-promotion interests, the more utilitarian browsing and satisfy the online shopping they were the greater e-loyalty of online shopping for fashion products. It implies that consumer' e-promotion interest was an influencing variable on promotion-acceptance attitudes, browsing, consumer satisfaction and e-loyalty in online shopping for fashion products. Consumer satisfaction played an important role for making e-loyalty of fashion shopping malls. These findings are discussed in terms of insights for developing the strategies of encouraging to make the loyalty of shopping mall in the context of purchasing fashion products at Internet.
Background: Conservation of resources theory assumes loss of resources as a cause of job strain. In hospital work, conflicts with supervisors are tested to predict lower resources, that is, supervisory social support, participation possibilities, and appreciation. All three resources are expected to predict, in turn, experienced stress (job strain) and lower job satisfaction, lower affective commitment, and a higher resigned attitude towards the job (job attitudes). Methods: The sample included 1,073 employees from 14 Swiss hospitals (n = 604 nurses, n = 81 physicians, n = 135 medical therapists, and n = 253 technical and administrative staff). Of the total sample, 83.1% were female and 38.9% worked full-time. The median tenure was between 7 years and 10 years. Constructs were assessed by online questionnaires. Structural equation modeling was used to test mediation. Results: Structural equation modeling confirmed the negative association of conflict with supervisors and job resources. Tests of indirect paths to resources as a link between conflicts with supervisors and job attitudes were significant. For nurses, social support, participation and appreciation showed a significant indirect path, while among medical technicians the indirect paths included social support and appreciation, and among physicians only appreciation showed a significant indirect path. In medical therapists no indirect path was significant. Job resources did not mediate the link between conflict with supervisors and stress in any occupational group. Conclusion: Conflicts with supervisors are likely to reduce job resources and in turn to lower job attitudes. Work design in hospitals should, therefore, address interpersonal working conditions and conflict management in leadership development.
The purposes of this study were to develop an effective teaching material for slow learners in mathematics and to investigate its effect. To achieve the first goal, several pre-used teaching material and the 7th national curriculum for elementary school mathematics were analyzed to set up a framework fur developing new teaching material. Using these developed framework and curriculum data, 370 units of lesson were developed from the 3rd grade to the 6th grade. To investigate the effect of the material, 3 slow learners (2 from the 5th and 1 from the 6th grade) were selected through diagnostic tests. Then supplementary lessons were administered after school to relieve their disability accordingly for seven months. During the lessons(lasted about 40 minutes), teacher observed the subjects in detail and .judged the teaming sequence and the learning pace. Through this observation and the test administered after the treatment, several conclusions were drawn as follow: First, the supplementary lessons using the developed teaching material helped slow learners understand mathematics and solve problems. Especially, the test scores gained on formative evaluation became higher. This might be caused by the material that enabled to relieve the disablement and the teaching method that aimed to give a meaningful mathematical experience. Second, the supplementary lessons affected positively to the affective domain of the slow learners. They convinced themselves to their mathematical ability and became active in their mathematics class. This was observed by researcher and the class teacher in their lessons. Positive attitude toward mathematics and their ability is quite important for mathematics learning especially fur slow learners in mathematics.
Purpose: This study was performed to examine motivational factors affecting sweetness preference in Korean and Japanese children. We identified meaningful variables that could be targeted to nutrition education interventions designed to overcome innate barriers and reduce sweetness preference and sweet food intake in Korean and Japanese children. Methods: Questionnaire surveys and sweetness preference test were conducted to examine variables affecting behavioral intention (BI) regarding sweetness preference. Questionnaire variables were based on the theory of planned behavior. Participants were recruited from one urban school from each country. In total, 166 children (mean age: 8.4 years) and their guardians (n = 166) participated in the study. A trained research assistant provided all children with personal guidance regarding completion of the sweetness preference test and survey questionnaire at school. The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficients, t tests, repeated measure ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression analysis (significance level: p < 0.05). Results: Perceived behavioral control (PBC) and parenting practice were significantly associated with BI in both groups. Motivation to comply affected BI only in Japanese children, whereas affective attitude was associated with BI only in Korean children. In predicting sweetness preference, BI was associated only in Japanese children, whereas sweets consumption frequency had a significant effect in Korean children. Conclusion: The study shows similarities and differences in motivational factors, which could be considered when developing nutrition education programs in Korea and Japan. PBC and parenting practice were common factors in predicting BI. In predicting sweetness preference, BI had a significant effect on Japanese children, whereas sweets consumption frequency was the greatest contributor in Korean children.
In the school mathematics the concept of tangent is introduced in several steps in suitable contexts. Students are required to reflect and revise their concepts of tangent in order to apply the improved concept to wider range of contexts. In this paper we consider the tangent as the optimal linear approximation to a curve at a given point and make three discussions on pedagogical aspects of it. First, it provides a method of finding roots of real numbers which can be used as an application of tangent. This may help students improve their affective variables such as interest, attitude, motivation about the learning of tangent. Second, this concept reflects the modern point of view of tangent, the linear approximation of nonlinear problems. Third, it gives precise meaning of two tangent lines appearing two sides of a cusp point of a curve.
