This study helps out-size consumers purchase tops and improve the fitness of unde-weight women in their 20s-30s and by the establishment of a size system. The criteria for subjects in this study were those under 18.5($kg/m^2$) of the BMI; subsequently, a total of 233 females were enrolled. The results were: First, the nominal size for female adult formal dress suggested by the KS standard is suggested in 20 sections. The sections for underweight women are 7, (34 women who accounted for 14.59% out of 233 in total). The cover efficiency was 2.08% (which was very low). Second, tests showed that the average difference between the reference part body size of 7 sections for underweight women in the normal size section of bust cir.- hip cir.- height, and KS standard, waist cir. among reference sizes was rather small in the case of a nominal size for long height. Therefore, there is a significant difference with size in the KS standard and a sizing system proven improper for underweight woman. Third, the basic body sizes and reference body sizes were different due to the size system establishment according to measurements of underweight subjects. The research findings suggest that it is necessary to understand underweight types according to bust girth and hip girth sizes that represent basic sizes as well as to design patterns that consider the underweight body shape characteristics when women's tops are designed.

Method: The participants were women over 20 years old, 451 living in 3 cities and 436 living in 1 rural areas. Data collection was conducted from April 6 to August 30, 2004. Results: For lifestyle, the percentage of women having regular medical examinations, cholesterol tests, regular exercise, and high alcohol intake were significantly higher for urban women compared to the rural women. For health status, the percentage of women with health problems such as arthritic pain, urinary incontinence, pregnancy and postpartum complications, and the experience of violence were significantly higher for rural women compared to urban women. Rural women had significantly lower scores for health perception compared to urban women. For quality of life, rural women had significantly higher scores for quality of life, especially for the psychological wellbeing and stability subscales. Conclusion: The above findings indicate that it is necessary to develope a health promotion program which reinforces healthy lifestyle and health status for rural women, and quality of life, for urban women.
Purpose: This study was designed to explore the effects of providing individualized education for hemodialysis patients on their knowledge of hemodialysis, compliance of patient role behavior, and physiologic parameters. Method: A quasi experimental design with a non-equivalent control group and a non-synchronized design was used. The experiment was conducted with a total of 40 hemodialysis patients (20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group) at the artificial kidney center, C University Hospital. The experimental group was provided with individualized education, 30 minutes per session, three times per week, for two weeks. Results: The experimental group had significantly higher knowledge of hemodialysis than the control group after the education. The compliance of patient role behavior was more enhanced in the experimental group than the control group. The experimental group showed significantly higher values of blood urea nitrogen, but not the values of blood creatinine, albumin, kalium, and phosphorus. Conclusion: The individualized education was found to be an effective intervention for improving patients' knowledge of hemodialysis and compliance of patient role behavior.
Purpose: This study was to explore the gap between awareness and performance toward evidence-based pain management in older adults for the purpose of establishing baseline data for evidence-based pain management protocol development and dissemination. Methods: The subjects were 290 staff nurses from three general hospitals. Self administered questionnaires were used to collect the data and the results of the study were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. Results: There were statistically significant differences between awareness and performance in pain assessment (t=17.31, $p$ <.001), patient and family education (t=17.33, $p$ <.001), pharmacologic management (t=12.99, $p$ <.001), non pharmacological management (t=16.28, p<.001), and evaluation of effectiveness (t=11.70, $p$ <.001). There were also statistically significant differences in awareness and performance according to the workplace, knowledge, and usual performance. Conclusion: The study showed that the hospital nurses' performance about evidence-based pain management in older adults was lower than their awareness level thus indicating significant gaps between evidence and actual practice. To ensure effective pain care, the factors contributing to these gaps need to be analyzed to identify the barriers. In addition, the evidence-based pain management guideline suitable for various clinical settings needs to be developed and disseminated.

This was a follow-up study to the 'Study on the Body Types of Chinese Adult Women I,' which looked into the body types and classified them into representative body type groups, with the subjects of the women residing in Beijing and Shanghai, and it intends to compare the features of the body types by the residential area of each age range. The results were as follows: 1. The measurements physical items of the women residing in Beijing and Shanghai were compared by the age range, and differences were found in all age ranges. In particular, as the age ranges got higher, the differences in the physical measurements were significant. 2. The comparison of the factor score for the women residing in Beijing and Shanghai by the age range indicated the differences in all the age ranges, and the differences were larger as the age got higher. 3. The comparison of the type distribution for the women residing in Beijing and Shanghai by the age range indicated the differences in their 30's and 40's, while any differences in the type distribution were not found in their 20's.
Fifty cases of dermatomycoses were recorded from adult male and female at Qena Gvernorates. These included tinea capitis(62% of total cases), tinea corporis(20%), tinea versicolor(12%) and tinea unguium(6%). Males are more susceptible to all cases of tinea than females. Thirty-one species and 2 varieties belonging to 16 genera were recovered from several infection sites. These were identified as Aphanoascus fulvescens, A. terreus, Arthroderma fulva, A. obtusa, Trichophyton rubrum and T. soudanense. Several saprophytes were also found. These were : Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, A. terreus, Cochliobolus lunatus, Mycosphaerella tassiana, Penicillium chrysogenum and P. citrinum. Twenty-one isolates were able to hydrolyze gelatin with variable capabilities. T. rubrum was the most active protease producer. The maximum production of protease was obtained at 8 days of incubation at $30^{\circ}C$ in Sabouraud's basal medium with maltose as a carbon source and pepton as a nitrogen source. The optinal pH for the maximum production of protease was pH 6.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between daily beverage intake and obesity in young adults. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 256 adults in their 20s and 30s. Obesity was evaluated by anthropometric measurement of body mass index (BMI), waist to hip ratio and waist to height ratio. In addition, the daily intake of milk, caffeinated beverages, sweetened beverages, and alcoholic beverages was investigated using the dietary record and 24-h recall methods. Based on the BMI, men and women were classified into underweight, normal, overweight and obese. Among men, 38.3% were found to be normal, 28.1% were overweight and 31.3% obese. Among women, 11.7% were underweight, 73.4% were normal, and 10.2% were overweight, which was significantly different from men. In women, the BMI of the milk consumers was significantly lower than the non-consumers. Also, the obesity indices of caffeinated beverage consumers were significantly lower than the non-consumers. An analysis of the correlation between beverage intake and the obesity index showed that the intake of caffeinated beverages among women had a significant negative correlation with the obesity index, and intake of alcoholic beverages had a significant positive correlation with waist to height ratio. This study suggests that intake of milk and caffeinated beverage may have a positive effect on obesity, whereas the intake of alcoholic beverages may have a negative effect, especially in young adult women.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the eating behaviors and dietary quality of various aged adults. This study conducted through questionnaire and dietary survey by 24-hr recall to 850 adults residing in Samcheok. Subjects were divided into four groups according to the age in male and female, which included 20~29 yrs group (male n = 94, female n = 66), 30~49 yrs group (male n = 201, female n = 216), 50~64 yrs group (male n = 88, female n = 96), and $\geq65$ yrs group (n = 46, female n = 43). In male, 20~29 yrs group had a larger proportion of subjects who skipped breakfast, lunch and dinner compared to other groups (p < 0.001, p < 0.05, p < 0.01). The daily food and energy intakes in $\geq50$ yrs group were significantly lower than those of < 50 yrs. Protein and fat intakes of 20~29 yrs group were significantly higher than those of the other groups. But ND (Nutrient Density) of minerals as like calcium, iron and plant iron in 20~29 yrs group were significantly lower than those of other groups. The KDDS (Korean's Dietary Diversity Score) of 20~29 yrs group, 30~49 yrs group, 50~64 yrs group and $\geq65$ yrs group in male were 4.1, 3.8, 3.7 and 3.5 respectively and there was significant difference (p < 0.001). In female, skipping breakfast and dinner were significantly higher in 20~29 yrs group than in other groups (p < 0.001, p < 0.001). And the use of nutrient supplementation was higher in 30~49 yrs group than that of other groups (p < 0.05). The daily energy intakes was higher in 20~49 yrs group than that of $\geq65$ yrs group. The ND (Nutrient Density) of animal protein, vitamins A and $B_1$ in 20~29 yrs group were significantly lower than those of other groups. The KDDS of 20~29 yrs group, 30~49 yrs group, 50~64 yrs group and $\geq65$ yrs group in female were 4.0, 3.9, 3.9 and 3.6 respectively and $\geq65$ yrs group was significant lower than other groups. According to these results, $\geq65$ yrs and 20~29 yrs group had more dietary habit problems and poor nutrition status than 30~64 yrs group. The results of this study revealed that nutritional management and education for adequate meals should be emphasized in adults and elderly.
The purpose of this study is to provide for the basic data useful to the development of a quality bassiere featuring a good wearing feeling, to investigate the characteristics of breast shapes by age and suggest a brassiere sizing system for woman. For this purpose, the subjects of anthropometry were 220 women aged between 20 and 59. The anthropometric measurements were analyzed by various statistical methods mean, standard deviation, F-test, Duncan-test, Factor analysis, frequency. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. According to the increase of age, the items of height were decreased and items of width, depth, circumference and length were increased, being obeser and breast point were drooped. So volume and bottom area of breast of 40 50's women were larger than 20 30's women and breast point width of 40 50's women was being wider by increase of the interior of breast. 2. From analyzing the effect of brassiere wearing, it was found that brassiere reformed the breast shape with the breast volume transferred from exterior part to interior part and the bottom area of breast diminished, so brassiere can have the breast location of adult woman up and the breast point width being centered 3. It was found that there was no direct linear relationships between under bust girth and cup size from analysis of breast measurements. Therefore those 2 factors(under bust girth and cup size) was brought into basic item of brassiere sizing system. From the dual distribution table whose intervals had been decided by KS K-0070(1999), it was picked out 12 sizes which had more than 4% of appearance for suggesting brassiere size chart. The sizing system covers 76.36% of all subjects and supply reference measurements relevant to brassiere manufacturing.
Purpose: The study aimed to establish a theoretical basis for nursing intervention to improve the quality of life during early adult by identifying emotional intelligence, his or her parents' child rearing attitudes and self-identity and analyzing how the parents' child rearing attitudes and self-identity influence on emotional intelligence during that period. Method: Data were collected from August 20 2011 to September 30, 2011. Two hundred men and women who lived in the areas of Seoul and Gyeong-gi Province were recruited. A total of 189 questionnaires were used for final analysis. Collected data were analyzed through SPSS/WIN18.0. Result: The participants' emotional intelligence and self-identity proved to have positive relationship. The participants' emotional intelligence also had the positive relationship with their mothers' and fathers' child rearing attitudes. The research shows that the mother's child rearing attitude(${\beta}=.40$, p<.001), the father's child rearing(${\beta}=.10$, p<.001) and self-identity(${\beta}=.23$, p<.001) can determine emotional intelligence to a degree of 43.4% and the mother's attitude was the most influential. Conclusion: It is necessary that emotional intelligence should be enhanced referring to the two variables in nursing intervention. Furthermore, parents whose children are in childhood or adolescence need to be educated about the importance of the parents' child rearing attitudes.
