Rational Consumption Life and Brand Orientation of Adolescent Consumers (청소년 소비자의 합리적 소비생활과 상표지향성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the level of reasonable consumer habits of adolescents based on their consumer socialization, consumer education, and purchasing skills, and to determine their brand orientation based on facts that adolescent years is the determining period for consumer socialization, that their role as consumers take up relative importance, and that consumer habits during this period is extremely important. The directions of consumer education for forming a reasonable consumer culture for adolescents based on the results of the study are presented as follows. First, by conducting a training program for consumer counselor that supports courses such as consumer aid that are held for adolescent consumers, adolescents must be led towards logical purchase habits and to practice reasonable purchase habits. Second, since consumer attitude that is learned and formed since youth is important, discussion sessions as well as consumer education programs that can foster proper consumer knowledge, attitude, and function needs to be developed by schools and the government. Third, This can form improper consumption values such as over consumptions, conspicuous consumption, and impulsive purchase that may appear in their adult years; therefore, a consumer education program must be continued in the homes, schools, and by the government so that adolescents can learn manage reasonable consumer values and consumer habits.

A Study on the Female Adolescents′ Dissatisfaction Factors and Preferred Images of Underwear -Focused on 13-18 Aged Female Adolescents in Busan- (청소년기 여학생의 내의 상품에 관한 불만족 요인과 선호이미지 연구- 부산시내 중고생을 중심으로-)

  • In this study. with the discovery of adolescents' dissatisfaction factors and preferred images of underwear, the Potentiality of adolescents' underwear market was illuminated. For the purpose of this study, focused group interviews were performed to develop a questionnaires. And data was collected from 309 adolescents female consumer in the age of 13-18 living in busan. The fellowing are the results from the study. First. the female adolescents' dissatisfaction with underwear was analyzed into seven factors. such as buying decision, deformation after laundring, feeling from putting on, price/product variety, the lack of effective design considering body shape, inconvenience for activity and aesthetics. And degree of dissatisfaction was significant different among groups classified by consumer's level of product involvement and consumer's age. Second, the female adolescents' preferred images of underwear are gorgeous/elegant, simple/plain, pure & innocent/modest. active and lovely. From these results, it can be concluded that adolescents' desires of underwear product are different from adults'. Managerial Implications are provided for adolescents' underwear market.

Development of a School Consumer Education Program for Adolescents (청소년의 학교 소비자 교육 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a practical and efficient school consumer education program for adolescents so they could apply the program in their real life situations and lead a sound and rational consuming life. 'I, Family. Society and Consuming Life' is a program targeted for adolescents and focuses on the resolution of practical problems related to consuming life that an individual faces in everyday lives while living as a member of a family and a society. The content of this program consists of 'I and consuming life', 'I and the consuming life of a family', and 'I and the consuming life of a society'. Through this program, adolescents will be able to improve the ability to solve practical problems they face in their consumer lives. and build the sound values on consumption so they could playa role of sensible consumers in the future.

A Study on purchasing, consumption and disposing skill of Adolescents and Related Variables (청소년의 구매기능, 사용기능, 처분기능과 관련 변수)

  • The purposes of this study are (1) to research the purchasing consumption and disposing skill of adolescents and related variables and (2) to provide some informations about the consumer education program and policy for adolescents. The survey of this study was conducted using questionnaires. The data used in this study included 649 adolescents in Phohang. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation, analysis of variance(ANOVA) with Scheffe'-test. T-test, Multiple Regression Analysis, using the SPSS Win program. The results of this research were as follows:1) Purchasing skill was different significantly according to sex, grade, mother’s educational level, the degree of keeping an account book, the degree of checking after using the pocket money, interest on the contents related with consumer’s daily life and communication about consumption with their friends and parents. Consumption skill was different significantly according to grade, amount of pocket money, the degree of keeping an account book, the degree of checking after using the pocket money, interest on the contents related with consumer’s daily life and communication about consumption with their parents. Disposing skill was different significantly according to grade, from of school amount of pocket money, the degree of keeping an account book, the degree of checking after using the pocket money, interest on the contents related with consumer’s daily life and communication about consumption with their parents. 2) The most influential variable of purchasing, consumption & disposing skill was ‘communication about consumption with their parents’ and ‘the interest on the contents related with consumer’s daily life’respectively.

A study on Environment-friendly Consumption of Adolescents Consumers (청소년 소비자의 환경친화적 소비행동에 관한 연구)

  • This study was intended to investigate specific plan to enhance the adolescents consumers' environment-friendly consumption behavior in their consumption. For this purpose, a questionnaire was conducted among middle and high school students. As a result, the following findings were obtained: The related items in the questionnaire were categorized into factors in an attempt to investigate consumers' environment-friendly consumption. Factor I was coded as active recycling and the use of refilled products and Factor Ⅱ was coded as the behavior of active savings. Adolescents consumers with more experiences in environmental activity showed the higher level of behavior of environment-friendly consumption, and female adolescents consumer did so than male adolescents consumer And adolescents consumers showed the higher level of practical behavior of environment-friendly consumption in case of data and document arrangement than in case of cleaning, and in case of voluntary social service than in case of only cleaning.

A Study on the Emotion Regulation and School Adjustment of Group Home Adolescents (그룹홈 청소년의 정서조절능력과 학교적응성에 대한 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of group home adolescents' emotion regulation and school adjustment. A survey was carried out on a total of 246 middle and high school students, who live in group homes. For data analysis, t-test, two-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and reliability coefficients were carried out by using SPSS program(version 18.0). The findings of this study were as follows: First, there were significant differences in emotion regulation ability of group home adolescents, depending on the grade and gender. Second, there was an interaction by grade and gender in school adjustment of group home adolescents. Last, group home adolescents' gender, grade, and emotion regulation ability affected their school adjustment.

Adolescents' Attitudes toward Counterfeits: Consumer Ethics & Reference Group Influence

  • Counterfeiting is a fast growing market worldwide. The purposes of this study were to examine adolescents' attitudes toward counterfeits, their ethical beliefs, and reference group influence on purchasing counterfeits. Two hundred thirteen high school students in Seoul and subside, South Korea, voluntarily participated in the study. As the results, approximately 30% of the adolescents had purchased counterfeits. Also, the adolescent buyers of counterfeits tended to purchase counterfeit goods as more alternative of genuine products than non-buyers, and did have more positive feeling toward counterfeits than non-buyers of counterfeits. In addition, adolescent buyers of counterfeits had lower consumer ethics than non-buyers. Finally, adolescents who have purchased counterfeits were more influenced by their peer group than those who have not. The findings would benefit marketers and educators in understanding of adolescents' purchasing counterfeit products, and contribute to develop strategies regarding counterfeits. Based on these results, some strategies for marketers and educators would be suggested.

A Comparative Study on Academic Achievement Motivation, Parental Expectation, Teacher Expectation, and Self-Efficacy of Korean and Chinese-Korean Adolescents (화교 청소년과 한국 청소년의 학업적 성취동기, 부모 및 교사기대, 자기효능감에 관한 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare Chinese-Korean adolescents' with Korean adolescents's academic achievement motivation, parental expectation, teacher expectation, self-efficacy. The object is 492 students in the middle school 2th and high school 2th grade who are from Chinese-Korean school and Korean school in Seoul and Incheon. The major results of findings were as follows: First, Chinese-Korean adolescents were more high than academic achievement motivation in Korean adolescents. Second, juniors in middle school were more positive than parental expectation in high school. Third, Chinese-Korean adolescents were more positive than teacher expectation in Korean adolescents, and juniors in middle school are more positive than ones in high school. Forth, Chinese-Korean adolescents were more high than self-efficacy in Korean adolescents.

Money Management Behavior According to Consumption Value for Adolescent Consumer

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the money management behavior according to the consumption value for consumers, especially for adolescents. Using 502 samples of middle school adolescents, a survey was conducted from May 10 to May 20, 2004. The main results were as follows: 1) The consumption value for adolescent consumers was categorized conspicuous-consumption value, brand-oriented value, mental-oriented value and advertising-dependent value. 2) Female adolescent, with more private spending money, with mobile phone, with importance on brand when purchasing mobile phone, paying more for using mobile phone, having conspicuous-consumption value, with more importance for brand when purchasing mobile phone and having more advertising-oriented value. Adolescent consumers with less private spending money, less payment for mobile phone and having mental-oriented value. 3) Female, with more educated mother, with less spending private money and having better money management behavior. 4) With less conspicuous-consumption value, more mental-oriented value, adolescent consumers have better for money management behavior.

  • The effects of environmental factors on adolescent's socializaion were examined. Data were drawn from 1,412 adolescents. A hypothesized model was tested the links among housing, family conflicts, parent-adolescent relationship, family stress, prier relations, mass media, school atmosphere, consumption, consumer socialization, and adolescent's socialization. Adolescent's internal socialization was directly related to father-adolescent relationship, mother-adolescent relationship, family stress, housing, peer relations, school atmosphere, consumer socialization. The external socialization was directly rebated to father-adolescent relationship, mother-adolescent relationship, housing, peer relations, school atmosphere, and consumer socialization. Mass media wits the most important factor which could be predicated the adolescent's socialization . The findings are consistent with a growing body of literature showing that the environmental factors are related to the adolescent's socialization.
