  • High performance SFRC composed of mira-sized ultra fine particles is characterized by high strength, high ductility and excellent durability. therefore many researches about materials based on new composition like this are performed recently. many researchers have reported that adding steel fiber to concrete improved its tensile and flexural strength significantly. the main objective of this research is to examine the effect of adding steel fiber on the tensile strength of high performance SFRC. variables considered in this study are w/c ratio and fiber volume fraction.

  • This study examined testing condition when consumers have a strong ordinal preference and in a absence of established ordinal for a given attribute, how adding common features to two brands in a given product category affects brand choice. Research findings presented in this study are generally consistent with the preference confirmation view of choice. The data provides support for the proposition that (1) the effect of common features is moderated by the relative importance of brand attributes(Hypothesis 1) and (2) in the presence of primary attribute adding common features increases the likelihood of choosing the brand with the best value on this attribute(Hypotheses 2).

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of variables which were known to be related to blood pressure for discriminating between hypertensive and normotensive groups. Variables were obesity, serum lipids, life style-related variables such as smoking, alcohol, exercise, and stress, and demographic variables such as age, economical status, and education. The data were collected from 400 male clients who visited one university hospital located in Incheon, Republic of Korea, from May 1996 to December 1996 for a regular physical examination. Variables which showed significance for discriminating systolic blood pressure in this study were age, serum lipids, education, HDL, exercise, total cholesterol, body fat percent, alcohol, stress, and smoking(in order of significance). By using the combination of these variables, the possibility of proper prediction for a high-systolic pressure group was 2%, predicting a normal-systolic pressure group was 70.3%, and total Hit Ratio was 70%. Variables which showed significance for discriminating diastolic blood pressure were exercise, triglyceride, alcohol, smoking, economical status, age, and BMI (in order of significance). By using the combination of these variables, the possibility of proper prediction for a high-diastolic pressure group was 71.2%, predicting a normal-diastolic pressure group was 71.3%, and total Hit Ratio was 71.3%. Multiple regression analysis was performed to examine the association of systolic blood pressure with life style-related variables after adjustment for obesity, serum lipids, and demographic variables. First, the effect of demographic variable alone on the systolic blood pressure was statistically significant (p=.000) and adjusted $R^2$was 0.09. Adding the variable obesity on demographic variables resulted in raising adjusted $R^2$to 0.11 (p=.000) : therefore, the contribution rate of obesity on the systolic blood pressure was 2.0%. On the next step, adding the variable serum lipids on the obesity and demographic variables resulted in raising adjusted R2 to 0.12(P=.000) : therefore, the contribution rate of serum lipid on the systolic pressure was 1.0%. Finally, adding life style-related variables on all other variables resulted in raising the adjusted $R^2$to 0.18(p=.000) ; therefore, the contribution rate of life style-related variables on the systolic blood pressure after adjustment for obesity, serum lipids, and demographic variables was 6.0%. Multiple regression analysis was also performed to examine the association of diastolic blood pressure with life style-related variables after adjustment for obesity, serum lipids, and demographic variables. First, the effect of demographic variable alone on the diastolic blood pressure was statistically significant (p=.01) and adjusted $R^2$was 0.03. First-Born Effects on Wage (임금에 대한 맏이 효과)

  • This paper estimated the first-born effects on wage among wage and salary workers born in 1954 to 1973 with the 2003 KLIPS data set. The first-born effect on wage was estimated as 7.3% with the parsimoniously specified wage function using age and gender. Adding various variables as independent variables, the effects were estimated statistically insignificantly differently, the effect was estimated as 7.6% with adding education, tenure, marital status, father's education, the number of siblings, and health. The effect is not statistically significantly different from that of the parsimoniously specified wage function. We estimated the first-born effects of male, and female wage and salary workers separately. The first-born effects of male wage and salary workers were estimated as 5.9~8.8%. The first-born effects of female wage and salary workers were estimated as 8.8~9.9%.

  • The present experiment was designed to understand the effect of Boganhwan on the cardiovascular system in experimental animals. And thus the Blood pressure, isometric movement of atrium,Mg++-Ca++-ATPasc activity of sarcoplasmin reticulum. liver function, prothrombin time, and changes of blood composition were measured in the presence of Boganhwan. The results obtained here were as following: 1. The blood pressure decreased in the presence of SAMOOLTANG, and the decreasing effect was more stimulated by adding Bangpoong and Ganghwa(Boganhwan) 2. The oral administration of the drug for 7days also demonstrated the decreasing of blood pressure and the effect was stimulated by adding Bangpoong and Kanghwal. 3. The autonomic nerve blocking agents such as atropine and regitine did not demonstrate the effect on the drug action. 4. Boganhwan inhibited the cardiac isometric movement and rate by stimulating the Mg++-Ca++-ATPase activity of the heart sarcoplasmins reticulum. 5. Boganhwan increased the number of red blood cell, hematocrit percentage, hemoglobin concentration, and prothrombin time. 6. The drug stimulated the liver metabolism by stimulating the total ATPase activity. According to the results. Boganhwan demonstrated the decreased blood pressure and it also increased the hemoglobin concentration and the hematocrit percent. These effects stanches the hypertension. anemia, and cerebrovascular accident.

  • In this research, with a goal of lessening the damage to hair by adding rose hip extract to permanent wave 1 solution and performing permanent wave procedure prior to acid dyeing and maximizing the effect of the procedure, rose hip extract 15%, 20% was added to each thioglycolate 1 solution and cysteine 1 solution and the procedure was performed. As a result, when performing the procedure by adding rose hip extract to permanent wave 1 solution thioglycolate and cysteine permanent wave 1 solution, the effect of wave effectiveness is increased and the damage to hair was confirmed to be low. Depending on the rose hip additive status in thioglycolate, the treatment effect of hair was shown to be beneficial. However, the limit of this research is that the thickness of hair strands for each person differs as well as the location of the hair contributing to the difference and therefore exact judgement regarding the shape of waves as well as the level of damage cannot be fully measured. In the following clinical tests, we will test the procedure on variety of hair types.

  • Temperature is one of the important factors affecting the permeability of water in the soil. In the present study, the impact of water temperature on hydraulic conductivity (k) with and without coarse aggregations by considering six types of soils was analyzed. Moreover, the effect of sand and gravel presence in the soil was investigated through the infiltration based on constant and inconstant water head experiments. Results indicated that by increasing the water temperature, adding gravel to sandy soil caused the hydraulic conductivity to raise. It is supposed that the gravel decreased the contact surface between the water and the soil aggregates. It is deduced that due to decreasing kinetic energy, k tends to have lower values. Furthermore, adding the sand to sandy silt-clay soil showed that the sand did not have a marginal effect on the variation of k since the added sand cannot increase the contact surface like gravel. Finally, increasing the main diameter of the soil will increase the effect of the water temperature on hydraulic conductivity.

Effect of Supplementary Dietary L-carnitine and Yeast Chromium on Lipid Metabolism of Laying Hens

  • Two hundred and eighty-eight 21-week-old Hyline Brown laying hens were randomly allotted to 9 treatments, 32 birds for each treatment. A 3${\times}$3 (chromium${\times}$L-carnitine) factorial experiment was designed to investigate the single and interactive effects of adding yeast chromium (0, 400 and 600 ${\mu}g/kg$) and L-carnitine (0, 50 and 100 mg/kg) to corn-soybean diets on lipid metabolism of laying hens for 7 weeks. The results showed that 600 ${\mu}g/kg$ chromium or 100 mg/kg L-carnitine had significant effects on most indices of lipid metabolism (p<0.05 or 0.01). There were significant interactions on the concentration of liver triglycerides, egg yolk cholesterol, abdominal fat percentage between chromium and L-carnitine (p=0.0003-0.0500). Adding 400 ${\mu}g/kg$ chromium and 100 mg/kg Lcarnitine simultaneously was the best for reducing egg yolk cholesterol and adding 400 ${\mu}g/kg$ chromium and 50 mg/kg L-carnitine at the same time was the best for reducing abdominal fat percentage. There was no side effect on production performance of laying hens while chromium or (and) L-carnitine reduced liver lipid, abdominal fat and egg yolk cholesterol.
