  • Currently, there exists two different methods for database retrieval in the internet. First is to use the search engine and the second is to use the plug-in or ActiveX technology, If a search engine, which makes use of indices built from keywords of simple text data in order to do a search, is used when accessing a database, first it is not possible to access more than one database at a time, second it is also not possible to support various conditional retrievals as in using query language, and third the set of data received might include many unwanted data, in other words, precision rate might be relatively low. Plug in or Active technology make use of Web browset to execute chents' query in order to do a database retrieval. Problems associated with this is that it is not possible to activate more than one DBMS simultaneously even if they are of the same data model. sefond it is not possible to execute a user query other than the ones thai arc previou sly defined by the client program In this paper, to resolve those aforementioned problems we design and implement database retrieval system using a virtual database, which makes it possible to provide direct query jntertacc through the conventional Web browser. We assume that the virtual database is designed and aggregated from more than one relational database using the same data model.

  • RGB+D database has been widely used in object recognition, object tracking, robot control, to name a few. While rapid advance of active depth sensing technologies allows for the widespread of indoor RGB+D databases, there are only few outdoor RGB+D databases largely due to an inherent limitation of active depth cameras. In this paper, we propose a novel method used to build outdoor RGB+D databases. Instead of using active depth cameras such as Kinect or LIDAR, we acquire a pair of stereo image using high-resolution stereo camera and then obtain a depth map by applying stereo matching algorithm. To deal with estimation errors that inevitably exist in the depth map obtained from stereo matching methods, we develop an approach that estimates confidence of depth maps based on unsupervised learning. Unlike existing confidence estimation approaches, we explicitly consider a spatial correlation that may exist in the confidence map. Specifically, we focus on refining confidence feature with the assumption that the confidence feature and resultant confidence map are smoothly-varying in spatial domain and are highly correlated to each other. Experimental result shows that the proposed method outperforms existing confidence measure based approaches in various benchmark dataset.

  • Objectives: Active pulmonary tuberculosis (active PTB) is manifested in one of the complications of pneumoconiosis, but statistics are not available. The objective of the present study was to identify the incidence of active PTB among dusty workers who were diagnosed with pneumoconiosis by year. Methods: The present study was performed using the results of the Pneumoconiosis Examination Council's assessment from the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (KCOMWEL) database between January 1, 1984, and December 31, 2017. Pneumoconiosis is defined as Category 1 or more. Active PTB was defined as a positive result for active PTB in the result of the Pneumoconiosis Examination Council's assessment. The annual incidence rate of pneumoconiosis and active PTB were analyzed by age standardization. Results: The number of retired dusty workers who received the health examination for work-related pneumoconiosis increased every year. However, the incidence of pneumoconiosis among retired dusty workers and active PTB among patients with pneumoconiosis decreased every year. Conclusions: To effectively manage pneumoconiosis and active PTB among patients with pneumoconiosis, the annual status of them in retired dusty workers who received the health examination for work-related pneumoconiosis was required.

  • It is difficult to access and share design data among heterogeneous CAD systems. Usually, different CAD systems exchange the design data using a neutral format such as IGES or STEP. A prototype CAD system which uses a geometric kernel and a commercial database management system has been implemented. The prototype system used the Open Cascade geometric kernel and the commercial object-oriented database ObjectStore. STEP provides the database schema. The database can be accessed from commercial CAD systems such as SolidWorks or Unigraphics. The data access module from a commercial CAD system is developed with the CAD system's native API, ObjectStore API functions, and ActiveX.

  • This study aims to review the use of graph databases in construction research. Based on the diagnosis of the current research status, a future research direction is proposed. The use of graph databases in construction research has been increasing because of the efficiency in expressing complex relations between entities in construction big data. However, no study has been conducted to review systematically the status quo of graph databases. This study analyzes 42 papers in total that deployed a graph model and graph database in construction research, both quantitatively and qualitatively. A keyword analysis, topic modeling, and qualitative content analysis were conducted. The review identified the research topics, types of data sources that compose a graph, and the graph database application methods and algorithms. Although the current research is still in a nascent stage, the graph database research has great potential to develop into an advanced stage, fused with artificial intelligence (AI) in the future, based on the active usage trends this study revealed.

  • The web-based group collaborative systems are emerging as enterprise-wide information systems. Since data in group collaborative systems are apt to be shared among multiple concurrent users and modified simutaneously by them, the web-based group collaborative systems must support synchronous collaboration in order to provide users with synchronized and consistent views of shared data. This paper proposes an active web server which can facilitate synchronous collaboration in web-based group collaborative systems. To accomplish such a goal, the active web server manages dependency relationships between shared data and web browsers referencing them and actively propagates changing details of the shared data to all web browsers referencing them. And, this paper examines usefullness and effectiveness of the active web server to apply it to the ball-bearing design example of concurrent engineering design systems. The prototype system of the active web server is developed on a commercial Object-oriented Database Management System (ODBMS) called OBJECTSTORE using the C++ programming language.

  • RFID systems large volume of data, it can lead to slower queries. To achieve better query performance, we can partition into active and some nonactive data. In this paper, we propose two approaches of partitioning for efficient query support. The one is average period plus delta partition and the other is adaptive average period partition. We also present the system architecture to manage active data and non-active data and logical database schema. The data manager check the active partition and move all objects from the active store to an archive store associated with an average period plus data and an adaptive average period. Our experiments show the performance of our partitioning methods.

  • As the condition evaluation of the active rules is performed whenever an event occurs, the performance of the system is influenced greatly depending on the conditions Processing method. Therefore, a study on evaluating the conditions of active rules becomes a very important element for enhancing the performance of active database. and the processing time of the calculation generated from the conditions must be minimized in order to improve the Performance. In this paper, the tree processing system which can effectively Process the join and selection operations is proposed. The experimental results show that tree processing system has the lower evaluation cost for the conditions processing of the active rules than the existing methods.

  • The main purpose of reactive power compensation monitoring system is to manage factory electrical installation efficiently by On-Off switching reactive power compensation equipment. The existing reactive power compensation monitoring system is only able to be managed by operator whenever electrical installation needed reactive power. Therefore, it may be possible for propagating the installation's faults when operator make the unexpected mistakes. To overcome the unexpected mistakes, in this paper, the author presents a reactive power compensation monitoring system for factory electrical installation using active database. by using active database production rule, stated system can minimize unexpected mistake and can operate centralized monitoring system efficiently. Test results on the five factory electrical installations show that performance is efficient and robust.
