  • In this paper, the considered cognitive radio system has a pair of PT-PR and a pair of ST-SR. In first time slot(1 Phase), PT broadcast signal $x_p$ to PR, ST and SR. Then, each receivers(PR, ST, SR) decode received signal $x_p$. In second time slot(2 Phase), ST combine decoded signal ${x_p}^{\prime}$ and signal $x_s$, and it broadcast combined signal to PR and SR. PR and SR decode combined signal. At this time, PR can achieve diversity gain, due to using MRC, it combine 'received and decoded signal ${x_p}^{\prime}$ at 1 phase' and 'detected signal $x_p$ at 2 phase'. SR use linear combining technique and it can obtain $x_s$.

  • In this paper, we propose a group distributed dynamic address assignment scheme suitable for tactical mobile ad hoc networks(MANET). Efficient address assignment is an important issue in the MANET because a node may frequently leave the current network and join another network owing to the mobility of the node. The conventional schemes do not consider the features of the tactical networks: existence of a leader node and network activity on a group basis. Thus, they may not be suitable for military operations. In our proposed scheme, called grouped units dynamic address assignment protocol(G-DAAP), a leader node maintains the address information for the members in the network and any of the nodes can exploit the information for the assignment or request of the IP address by a simple message exchange procedure. This leads to fast address assignment with small overheads. In addition, G-DAAP based on the modified IEEE 802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access(EDCA) can assign addresses more quickly. We describe the delay performance of the G-DAAP and compare it with conventional schemes by numerical analysis and computer simulations. The results show that the G-DAAP significantly improves the delay performance as compared with the conventional schemes.

  • The possession rate of residential telephones tend to decrease as mobile phones are widely spread. There is also a decrease in the access rate of the qualified respondents due to the low rate of phone book registration and that of house owner's presence at home. Such a change in telephone survey environment calls for another survey-channel which makes good use of new telecommunication services. In this paper, a mobile survey system was designed and performed by the use of SMS (Short Message Service) which is a kind of mobile data communication service. The system draws the sample by using random digit sampling based on 'quota allocation', and sends the SMS to the sample according to the arranged scheduler. Then, the survey-panel which received the SMS connects to the responding server by pressing the 'send' button (which is connected by the callback number), responding to the question. As a result, the responding value is stored in the database and is analyzed in real-time. This system is distinguished from other research methodologies for its simplicity in data collection, its inexpensive research price, and the innovatively low research time.

  • In this paper, Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC eliminating effectively the multiple access and multipath interference for DS-CDMA based W-CDMA uplink system is designed and its performance is evaluated with computer simulation. By adaptively controlling the slope of the soft limiter with received signals, the efficiency of the soft limiter can be maximized and the better performance is obtained by solving error floor problem using further precise generation of interference signal. As a result, The proposed Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with simple optimizing method for time-variant channel showed optimum performance at fewer stages. Besides fewer stages, the interference cancellation at the output of the rake receiver considerably reduced system complexity. The Multistage Adaptive Partial PIC with precise generation and efficient cancellation of interference signal can solve error eoor problem, resulted from initial false detection and improve system performance of high data rate system.

  • In this paper, a pseudo-noise(PN) tracking and demodulation circuits are analyzed and designed for a direct-sequence/spread-spectrum multiple access system under a mobile fading channel. We consider noncoherent delay locked loop(DLL) as a PN code tracking loop which has 1/8 PN chip resolution. The tracking performance of DLL is evaluated in terms of locking time from a loose state and tracking jitter. The received signal is demodulated to original data by despreading with PN code locked by DLL. Also the designed circuit supports sound service of 32Kbps and in-band signal with 4.096MHz chip clock. The circuits are implemented and verified with FPGA, which is shown completely data recovery under AWGN 7dB and will be available for IMT-2000.

  • This work continues a trend of developments aimed at exploiting the physical layer of the open systems interconnection (OSI) model to enhance wireless network security. The goal is to augment activity occurring across other OSI layers and provide improved safeguards against unauthorized access. Relative to intrusion detection and anti-spoofing, this paper provides details for a proof-of-concept investigation involving "air monitor" applications where physical equipment constraints are not overly restrictive. In this case, RF fingerprinting is emerging as a viable security measure for providing device-specific identification (manufacturer, model, and/or serial number). RF fingerprint features can be extracted from various regions of collected bursts, the detection of which has been extensively researched. Given reliable burst detection, the near-term challenge is to find robust fingerprint features to improve device distinguishability. This is addressed here using wavelet domain (WD) RF fingerprinting based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-$\mathbb{C}WT$) features extracted from the non-transient preamble response of OFDM-based 802.11a signals. Intra-manufacturer classification performance is evaluated using four like-model Cisco devices with dissimilar serial numbers. WD fingerprinting effectiveness is demonstrated using Fisher-based multiple discriminant analysis (MDA) with maximum likelihood (ML) classification. The effects of varying channel SNR, burst detection error and dissimilar SNRs for MDA/ML training and classification are considered. Relative to time domain (TD) RF fingerprinting, WD fingerprinting with DT-$\mathbb{C}WT$ features emerged as the superior alternative for all scenarios at SNRs below 20 dB while achieving performance gains of up to 8 dB at 80% classification accuracy.

  • Exploiting multiple antennas at mobile devices is difficult due to limited size and power. In this paper, a distributed MIMO protocol achieving the capacity of conventinal MIMO systems is proposed and analyzed. For exploiting distributed MIMO features, Quantize-Map-and-Forward (QMF) scheme shows improved performance than Amplify-and-Forward (AF) scheme. Also, the protocol based on multiple access channel (MAC) is proposed to improve the multiplexing gain. We showed that sufficient condition of the number of slave nodes to achieve the gain of a MAC based protocol. Because the base station can support multiple clusters operating in distributed MIMO, the total cellular capacity can be extremely enhanced in proportional to the number of clusters.

  • Start Ongoing next generation networks are expected to be deployed over current existing networks, in the form of overlayed heterogeneous networks, in particular, in hot spot areas. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop an interworking technique such as load balancing, to achieve increased overall resource utilization in the various heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we present a new load balancing mechanism termed 'soft' load balancing where the IP(Internet Protocol) traffic of a user is divided into sub-traffic, each of which flows into a different access network. The terminology of soft load balancing involves the use of both load sharing and handover techniques. Through a numerical analysis, we obtain an optimal LBR (Load Balancing Ratio) for determining the volume of traffic delivered to each network over an overlayed multi-cell environment. Using the optimal LBR, a more reliable channel transmission can be achieved by reducing the outage probability efficiently for a given user traffic.

  • Introducing the quantized channel state information (CSI), space division multiple access (SDMA) can extract the multiplexing gain with the limited feedback burden. However, huge signaling burden of feedback can still suffer SDMA system because the total feedback data of SDMA is linearly dependent on the number of users. Hence, we propose a new feedback scheme to control the feedback load decided by the number of users. In this scheme, the cut-off level, which restricts the feedbacks of poor conditioned users, is suggested for the reduction of the feedback burden without the performance loss. From simulation results, then, we show that the proposed feedback scheme can achieve not only the sum-rate gain but also the reasonable feedback reduction.

  • In this paper, we propose $\pi$/4 QPSK scheme with block modulation algorithm, which can reduce preamble in order to transmit ATM cell efficiently in the uplink channel of LMDS, and also designed a new carrier recovery circuit which can improve carrier synchronization performance of block demodulation algorithm. The $\pi$/4 QPSK scheme employing the proposed block modulation algorithm achieved efficient frame transmission by making use of a few preamble when carrier synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and slot timing synchronization were performed by burst data of ATM cell in LMDS environment. For performance evaluation of the proposed method, a simulation analyzing the variation of carrier synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and slot timing synchronization using LMDS environment and burst mode condition was executed. In the simulation, the proposed method showed a good performance even though the reduced preamble as a few aspossible when carrier synchronization, symbol timing synchronization and slot timing synchronization is performed.
