In this study, the carrier acceleration-ramp-step test was applied to GPS carrier phase measurements, and the results were compared and analyzed. In the carrier acceleration-ramp-step test, the acceleration, ramp, and measurements are estimated using 10 consecutive carrier phase measurements for satellites observed at the same time based on the least square method. As for the characteristic of this test, if failure occurs in the measurement, the value jumps significantly compared to the previous result; but it judges that failure has occurred in all the satellites although failure has occurred in one satellite. Therefore, in this study, a method that eliminates a satellite with failure was suggested, and thresholds of the carrier acceleration, ramp, and step were suggested. The evaluation of the failure detection performance of carrier phase measurement using the suggested thresholds showed that failure could be detected when the carrier phase measurement changed abruptly by more than about 0.1 cycles.
Floor acceleration plays a major role in the seismic design of nonstructural components and equipment supported by structures. Large floor acceleration may cause structural damage to or even collapse of buildings. For precision instruments in high-tech factories, even small floor accelerations can cause considerable damage in this study. Six P-wave parameters, namely the peak measurement of acceleration, peak measurement of velocity, peak measurement of displacement, effective predominant period, integral of squared velocity, and cumulative absolute velocity, were estimated from the first 3 s of a vertical ground acceleration time history. Subsequently, a new predictive algorithm was developed, which utilizes the aforementioned parameters with the floor height and fundamental period of the structure as the new inputs of a support vector regression model. Representative earthquakes, which were recorded by the Structure Strong Earthquake Monitoring System of the Central Weather Bureau in Taiwan from 1992 to 2016, were used to construct the support vector regression model for predicting the peak floor acceleration (PFA) of each floor. The results indicated that the accuracy of the predicted PFA, which was defined as a PFA within a one-level difference from the measured PFA on Taiwan's seismic intensity scale, was 96.96%. The proposed system can be integrated into the existing earthquake early warning system to provide complete protection to life and the economy.
In this paper, the relationship among the vertical acceleration, measuring points and walking patterns is analyzed. To measure acceleration, the acceleration measurement unit and communication board is constructed. It uses MEMS accelerometer ADXL-202 that detects 2-axis acceleration simultaneously. It is shown by the experiment test that the walking pattern is recognized and walking step is detected at easy when acceleration measurement unit is mounted on leg.. This results can be directly utilized in designing the personal navigation system with low-cost inertial sensor.
The researcher set up multiple sensor units on the road slope such as national highway and highway where there is a possibility of loss, and using the acceleration sensor built into the sensor unit the researcher will sense whether the inclination of the road slope occur in real time, and Based on the sensed data, the researcher tries to implement a system that detects collapse of road slope and dangerous situation. In the experiment of measuring the error between the actual measurement time and the judgment time of the monitoring system when judging the warning of the sensor and falling rock detection by using the acceleration sensor, the error between measurement time and the judgment time at the sensor warning was 0.34 seconds on average, and an error between measurement time and judgment time at falling rock detection was 0.21 seconds on average. The error is relatively small, the accuracy is high, and thus the change of the slope can be clearly judged.

As one of the concepts of the laser/electric hybrid propulsion system, a feasibility study on possibilities of electrostatic acceleration of a laser ablation plasma induced from a solid target was conducted. Energy distributions of accelerated ions were measured by a Faraday cup. A time-of-flight measurement was also conducted for ion velocity measurement. It was found that an average speed of ions from a pure laser ablation in this case was about 20 km/sec for pulse energy of 40 $\mu$J/pulse with pulse width of 250 psec. On the other hand, through an electrostatic field with a + I ,000 V electrode, the speed could be accelerated up to 40 km/sec. It was shown that the electrode with positive potential was more effective than that with negative potential for positive-ion acceleration in laser induced plasma, or pulsed plasma, in which ions were induced with the Coulomb explosion following electrons. In addition, the ion-acceleration or deceleration strongly depended on conditions of pairs of inner diameter and electrodes gap.
Railroad is the major factor of vibration source in railway vehicles, and it must carefully maintained the original condition to secure the safety and good ride comfort of passenger. Measuring the condition of rail irregularities such as surface, alignment, gauge, twist and cant etc is required to maintain the good performance of railroad. Currently, the various rail irregularity measurement systems(EM120, ROGER1000K and the Total Rail Irregularity Measurement system of Korea High Speed Train) are operated in Korea to estimate the rail irregularity. It is hard to verify the correlation of one rail irregularity data of a measurement system with the other, because they have been adopted different rail irregularity estimation methods. The best method securing the reliability of the irregularity data is the direct confirmation on the ground where the measurement system had detected as a fault section, but it is impossible to apply all sections simultaneously due to limitation of time, labor, cost and equipments. There is a method to secure the reliability of the data by using acceleration values. Rail irregularities, the major factor of vibration in railway vehicle, are transmitted to the vehicle acceleration through masses, springs, dampers and joints as the system dynamic formation. In this study, Transition Function has been adopted by using the rail irregularity and the acceleration value regarding as input & output parameters respectively. It has been verified by comparing the analyzed results with real measured irregularity data from the Total Rail Irregularity Measurement system of Korea High Speed Train. Also various methods has been accomplished to verify the correlation between rail irregularities and acceleration values.
The trolley carrying the pod moves along by the airfield runway. The pod through the trolley are subjected to vibration arising from the ground state, the precision optical components in the pod can have a significant impact. The road tests were conducted by using the measurement pod to remove the risk for the project. The measurement pod was composed with the ACRA, sensors, battery. The accelerometers were attached to get the acceleration through the road condition. The PSD envelop was calculated by FFT from the acceleration. The driving safety was proven through comparing the measurement data and MIL-STD-810G specification.
This paper presents the intelligent external noise analysis method for nonlinear maneuvering target. After recognizing maneuvering pattern of the target by the proposed method, we track the state of the target. The external noise can be divided into mere noise and acceleration using only the measurement. divided noise passes through the filtering step and acceleration is punched into dynamic model to compensate expected states. The acceleration is the most deterministic factor to the maneuvering. By dividing, approximating, and compensating the acceleration, we can reduce the tracking error effectively. We use the fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering as the method to divide external noise. FCM can separate the acceleration from the noise without criteria. It makes the criteria with the data made by measurement at every sampling time. So it can show the adaptive tracking result. The proposed method proceeds the tracking target simultaneously with the learning process. Thus it can apply to the online system. The proposed method shows the remarkable tracking result on the linear and nonlinear maneuvering. Finally, some examples are provided to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
The HDD unbalance, with higher rotational speed, is directly influenced by the mechanical assembly allowance between clamping disk and platter disk. The low frequency structural vibration induced by the unbalance force finally gives rise to the structure borne noise of the personal computer. To meet the noise and vibration requirements, the absolute unbalance mass of HDD needs to be measured and adjusted in the disk assembling stage. This study introduces the measurement methods of the absolute magnitude and position of the unbalance mass of HDD based on the mobility and acceleration orbit. The absolute unbalance mass can be obtained by the acceleration responses and the mobility of the mechanical part, while the position of the unbalance mass ran be obtained by the rotation acceleration orbit.
