The Study of an Improvement of Clinical Competency through Evidence Based Learning (근거 중심의 학습을 통한 학생들의 임상 실무 능력 개선에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect that the academic achievement of the students about the evidence based learning investigates the learning utility value about and the request. Method : The agreement of college students explaining the purpose of research for 12 weeks against 17 students and investigate through a questionnaire. The level of academic achievement according to the sex and claim showed a characteristic with a percentage. An utility investigate the descriptive epidemiologic characteristic about the class of the evidence based learning. Result : The most of college students the level of academic achievement and requests the expected grade of the students about the evidence based learning wanted the 'high' grade of 9 persons, 'middle' grade of 8 persons in the part and the expectation for the class taken so much was high(p<.05). There was the significant different in the utility aspect in the need of the evidence based learning, homework solution, learning synergy effect improvement, and reference search ability improvement(p<.05). Conclusion : These finding revealed that the evidence based learning the satisfaction with class raises the improvement and utility value, and provided the need and the has to develop the educational model which the college students contentment raises an improvement after this opportunity for the new recognition.

A Study on the Methods of the Enhancement of Scholastic Achievement in Mathematics through Small Group Activities Based on the Students′ Ability Levels. (협력학습을 통한 수학과 학력신장에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to examine how cooperative teaming of small ability level groups influences the enhancement of their scholastic achievement in mathematics. The conclusions are as follows; 1. The students which participate in cooperative learning in small ability level groups demonstrate academic improvement over those that participate in non-cooperative learning groups. 2. In particular, this method is more effective for high-level classes, than for middle or low-level students. 3. The learners' perception, interest and attitude towards mathematics has not changed through their placement in small ability groups involved in cooperative activities.

Influences of Dietary Education Activity on Education Satisfaction and Self-Respect (식생활 교육활동이 교육만족도와 자아존중감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated dietary education and education satisfaction from the perspectives of academic ability improvement, psychological-emotional development, and self-respect. For this reason, empirical analysis was performed on the relationship between dietary education activity, education satisfaction, and self-respect. The purpose of this study is to appreciate the importance of dietary education, to focus the attention of researchers on dietary education and to provide fundamental materials. The results drawn from analysis are as follows. Firstly, it was discovered that the degree of dietary education has positive relationships with both academic ability improvement, and psychological/emotional development. Secondly, self-respect has positive relationships with academic ability improvement, and psychological/emotional development in terms of education satisfaction. Thirdly, after analyzing the influences of dietary education activity on self-respect, it was indicated that self-respect has a positive relationship with dietary education activity. Therefore, continuous and consistent dietary education needs to be performed at home, as well as at school, at the national level to establish appropriate dietary knowledge to teenagers, rather than simply delivering knowledge. It is also suggested that the education that can form self-respect be required.

The Effect of an Empathy Education Program on Nursing Students' Empathy Ability, Interpersonal Ability, and Caring (간호대학생을 위한 공감교육 프로그램이 공감능력, 대인관계 능력 및 돌봄에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop and evaluate the effects of an empathy education program for undergraduate nursing students. Methods: The study employed a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. A total of 46 nursing students were voluntarily recruited by convenience sampling from senior nursing students from the nursing department of K college in I city, Korea. Participants were divided into two groups, an experimental group of 23 and a control group of 23. The experimental intervention (empathy education program) was conducted from April 19 to May 6, 2016 and consisted of 150-minute sessions, twice a week, for 3 weeks for a total of 15 hours. Results: Participants demonstrated improvements in perspective taking in cognitive empathy, improved empathic concern in emotional empathy, and improved communicative empathy. Analysis of reflective writings identified four theme clusters regarding communicative empathy: improvement of empathic expression, experiencing comfort and healing, improvement of interpersonal relationships, and experience of conflict resolution. Improved interpersonal ability and caring were also identified. Conclusion: The empathy education program improved cognitive, emotional and communicative empathy, and interpersonal skills and care, which are all necessary qualities for nurses.

The mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between social anxiety and communication ability in nursing students (간호대학생의 대인불안과 의사소통능력의 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify the relationship between nursing students' social anxiety and communication ability, and in particular, to determine the mediating effect of self-efficacy. Methods: A total of 187 nursing students enrolled at four universities in Korea completed surveys between August and September 2020. The measurements included the Global Interpersonal Communication Competence Scale, self-efficacy scales, and interaction anxiousness scales. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression following the Baron and Kenny method, and bootstrapping for mediation. Results: Communication ability was significantly negatively correlated with social anxiety (r=-.61, p<.001) and significantly positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.77, p<.001). Furthermore, self-efficacy had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between social anxiety and communication ability. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that communication ability can be improved if individual characteristics such as social anxiety and self-efficacy are considered. Therefore, when developing communication ability improvement programs for nursing students in the future, it is considered important to actively consider these personal characteristics.

  • In this paper, we discussed the improvement strategy for poor basic academic skills, that are the basic abilities of college students for employment and career. The case studies proposed previously to improve the basic academic skills and the case study of I college in Seoul are researched and the correlation between the basic academic skills on the linguistic ability and the scholastic achievement grades is analyzed. The improvement strategy of the basic academic skills for three departments has been proposed by regarding to the characteristics of departments. The use of the construction of the basic academic skill TMS(Test and Management System) based on the results and the application for the poor of the basic academic skill in the career management system is expected.

A Change of the Science Writing ability before and after Argumentation (논의활동 전·후의 글쓰기에 나타난 과학글쓰기 능력의 정량적 변화 분석)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the change of science writing ability between pre and post-science writing which was written before and after argumentation activity and to show how argumentation influences the science writing ability. To fulfill this aim, eight 5th grade students were chosen from an elementary school. They were involved in the nine science writing themes which was compose of scientific contexts and social scientific contexts. Students' science works in argumentation and writing activity were collected and analysed based on four domains of framework for science writing ability: scientific thinking, logic, creativity and expression ability. The result of this study showed that the affirmative change of four domains of science writing ability on post-science writing written after argumentation was observed. Also, an affirmative change was observed in all of the scientific and social scientific themes. A lot of changes of the scientific writing ability were observed especially when the themes were familar to student. The degree of change depended on the level of the student, but overall it influenced all participating students with a positive improvement for their scientific writing ability. Students with high grade of academic achievement showed high improvement in science writing ability, but students who had low grade of academic achievement also showed a positive improvement in science writing ability.

  • The purpose of this research is to promote the academic achievement motivation and improve problem solving ability in Mathematics. In addition I hope to explore a new teaching method and facilitate students interest in mathmatics. If the teachers utilize an Internet Web Page and exchang information, the interaction activities will allow them to collect and analyse a variety of data. As this teaching method assists students motivation to get the effects of self-regulated learning strategies of students using the internet and their academic achievements and learning attitudes can be explored. The information will be gathered after the students participate in classes which were taught through the Edunet Homepage and the Department of Mathematics Homepage of KongJu National University. The Internet pages focused on the "Function" chapter of the first grade text for students attending middle school. The students were divided into two groups, experimental and comparative. Each group is composed of three levels, high, middle, and low. In the post experimental phase, two tests were administered which measured achievement ability and the learning attitude of the students. The results of the tests were then compared and analyzed. The results were as follows: First, the study demonstrated that self-regulated Learning Starategies towards Academic Achievements and Learning Attitudes were more effective than traditional teaching methods. These methods were significantly effective in the middle level and low level groups. The study demonstrated little to no improvement in the high level groups

Factors Affecting the Self-Directed Learning Ability of Dental Hygiene Students (치위생과 학생의 자기 주도적 학습능력에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to provide the measures for improving the self-directed learning ability and the reference data for substantializing the educational programs by verifying the main factors affecting the self-directed learning ability of dental hygiene students in reality when the learners' autonomy is emphasized than ever. Methods: From June 20 to July 4, 2022, an online survey was conducted targeting total 218 dental hygiene students. The collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS Program Version 22.0. Results: First, in the results of analyzing differences in detailed items of self-directed learning ability according to the general characteristics, the 'students who entered the department of dental hygiene by considering their aptitude and interest' showed higher results than the 'students who entered the department by considering their high school record'. Second, when the academic efficacy, study immersion, and problem-solving ability of dental hygiene students were higher, their self-directed learning ability was also high. Third, the factor that had the greatest effect on self-directed learning ability of dental hygiene students was problem-solving ability, which was followed by academic efficacy and study immersion. Conclusion: Putting together the results above, in order to cultivate the problem-solving ability of dental hygiene students, it would be necessary to operate the problem-solving-centered simulation course that could foster critical thinking, interactions with others, and creative approach and solution to problems in dental medical site. It would be also possible to improve their academic efficacy by applying the learning mentoring & one-to-one learning counseling program, and also strengthening proper feedbacks for learners. Moreover, the study immersion could be strengthened by developing and operating the emotion-based learning motivation program & learning coaching program through the process of verifying the potential and growth needs of learners, exploring one's own resources through learning diagnosis/introspection, and exploring the career-related vision for strengthening the learning motivation, which could have positive effects on the improvement of self-directed learning ability.

Convergence Study about Problem-based Learing and Self-directed Learning Ability, Problem Solving Skills, Academic Self-efficacy, Motivation toward Learning of Nursing Students (문제중심학습(PBL)과 간호대학생의 자기주도적 학습능력, 문제해결능력, 학업적 자기효능감 및 학습동기에 대한 융합연구)

  • This study was convergence study conducted to examine the effects of problem-based learning(PBL) on self-directed learning ability, problem solving skills, academic self-efficacy, motivation toward learning in adult nursing care. This study was one-group pretest-posttest design. 51 students in the second year were recruited. After the PBL education, The participants showed much improvement in two areas of problem solving skills(t=3.30, p=.002) and Motivation toward Learning(t=3.004, p= .004). In the case of self-directed learning ability(t=1.451, p= .153) and academic self-efficacy(t=-1.04, p= .304), these have not showed a statistically significant change. The results indicate that the PBL education is effective in improving some areas of students' learning competency. Further study is needed to develop PBL programs for various clinical topics and evaluate the effectiveness on the learning outcomes.
