The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of visual information on the dynamic balance on Y-balance Test(YBT). The subjects of the study were 18 male and female adults in their 20s and 30s (age: 23.17±1.72 years, height: 172.46±9.84 cm, weight: 73.39±11.44 kg, leg length: 88.89±5.69 cm) who participated in the study. To measure dynamic balance between binocular and monocular use, absolute reach distance, composite score, and COP variables were measured on left and right feet through YBT and results were derived. As a result of the study, monocular block(left and right eye block) showed higher absolute reach and composite scores than binocular use in posterolateral, posteromedial, and composite scores during YBT. As a result of COP, there was no difference in anterior and posteromedial reach. When reaching posterolateral, AP COP velocity of left foot in monocular block appeared slower than that in binocular vision, and in COP velocity, COP velocity of left foot in monocular block appeared slower than binocular vision.

The characteristics about the pressure drop in microtubes have been investigated. The test tubes are the circular, seamless, stainless steel tubes with an inner diameter of 0.244, 0.430, and 0.792 mm, respectively. R-l34a was used as a test fluid. Early flow transition which has been reported in some previous studies is not found in single-phase flow pressure drop tests. The conventional theory between friction factor and Reynolds number predicted the experimental friction factors within an absolute average deviation of $8.9\%$. The two-phase flow pressure drop increases for higher quality and mass flux, and for reduced inner diameter. The existing correlations fail to predict the experimental data. A new correlation to predict the two-phase flow pressure drop is developed in the form of the Lockhart-Martinelli correlation. The effects of the tube diameter and the surface tension were considered, and the correlation predicted the experimental data within an average absolute deviation of $8.1\%$.

The friction material for automobile is manufactured by mixing several composites to stop the running vehicles. Friction characteristics are changed significantly according to the relative amount of the base materials. However, difference of friction coefficient is sometimes measured at the test for the same friction material. Nevertheless, the study for solving these problems is insufficient. In this paper, the friction tests were carried out by changing the external environment and processing condition when the main ingredients are fixed and also evaluated how the friction coefficient changes. The variables are cooling air speed, humidity (Relative humidity and Absolute humidity), scorching time, soaking time and pad area. And it is analytically considered which environmental factor mainly affects the characteristic of friction coefficient variation by experiment. It is expected that the results from this study can be very useful as a database for development of the friction material.

Predictions of Energy Consumption for Industries gain an important place in energy management and control system, as there are dynamic and seasonal changes in the demand and supply of energy. This paper presents and discusses the predictive models for energy consumption of the steel industry. Data used includes lagging and leading current reactive power, lagging and leading current power factor, carbon dioxide (tCO2) emission and load type. In the test set, four statistical models are trained and evaluated: (a) Linear regression (LR), (b) Support Vector Machine with radial kernel (SVM RBF), (c) Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), (d) random forest (RF). Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) are used to measure the prediction efficiency of regression designs. When using all the predictors, the best model RF can provide RMSE value 7.33 in the test set.
Two truncated sequential tests are developed for the two-sample scale problem based on the usual Wilcoxon rank-sum statistic for two different dispersion indices - absolute median deviations, when the medians of the two populations X and Y are equal or known and sums of squared mean deviations, when the medians are either unknown or unequal. The first test is briefly called SWAMD test and the second SWSMD test. For the SWAMD test, the percentile points for both the one-sided and two-sided alternatives, (equation omitted) have been found by Wiener approximation and their values computed for a range of values of a and N; analytical expression for the power function has been derived through Wiener process and its performance studied for various sequential designs for exponential distribution. This test has been illustrated by a numerical example. All the results of the SWAMD test, being directly applicable to the SWSMD test, are not dealt with separately Both the tests are compared and their suitable applications indicated.

There are several kinds of driving conditions according to the characteristic of each vehicle diver. Automaker produces vehicle strong enough to satisfy this several driving conditions at the point of vehicle durability. In order to develop the car in a short period, Automaker engineer tests vehicle at serveral accelerated durability test roads. Before testing the vehicle durability, test engineer must know how much this test road severe than general field road which is composed of high way, city road, paved road and unpaved road. This paper suggests two types of road severity test method that is using relative fatigue life prediction method and using absolute fatigue life prediction method, and also present the merits and demerits of two test methods.

This paper is presented an simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm using ultrasonic for robot and electric compass, encoder, and gyro. Generally, localization based upon electric compass, encoder, and gyro can be measured just local position in workspace. However, actual robot must need an information of the absolute position in workspace to perform its mission, Absolute position in workspace could be calculated using SLAM algorithm. To implement SLAM in this paper, a map is built using ultrasonic sensor and hierarchical map building method. And then, we the map will be transformed into a feature map. The absolute position could be calculated using the feature map and map mapping method. As a test bed, we designed and construct an autonomous robot and showed the experimental performance of the proposed SLAM algorithm based on feature map. Experimental result, we verified that robot can found all absolute position on experiments using proposed SLAM algorithm.
Background: Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is characterized by pain and limited range of motion in the jaw. TMD patients generally prefer to chew on the unaffected or less-affected side, and this tendency often results in asymmetries in masseter muscle thickness and range of mandibular motion. Objects: The purpose of this study was to compare the asymmetries in masseter muscle thickness and range of mandibular motion in subjects with and without temporomandibular disorders. Methods: Thirty-nine subjects were divided into two groups: A TMD group ($n_1=19$) and a control group ($n_2=20$). The jaw opening range and laterotrusion were measured using a digital vernier caliper. The masseter muscle thickness was examined in both the resting state and the maximal clenching state using ultrasonography. The absolute asymmetry indices calculated based on the laterotrusion and masseter muscle thickness of the respective right and left sides. A two-way ANOVA and a Mann-Whitney U test were used for statistical analysis. Results: No significant different was found in the masseter muscle thickness between the TMD and control group. A significant difference was found in the absolute asymmetry indices of mandibular laterotrusion between the TMD and control groups (p<.05). Furthermore, the ranges of jaw opening were significantly different between males and females (p<.05). The absolute asymmetry index values of masseter muscle thickness at rest and during maximal clenching were also significantly different between males and females (p<.05). Conclusion: These results demonstrated that the subjects with TMD had a larger degree of asymmetry in laterotrusion than those without TMD. Therefore, a physiotherapy program needs to be designed to restore normal laterotrusion capacities for TMD subjects. These results also showed that female subjects had greater absolute asymmetry indices in masseter muscle thickness than male subjects. Therefore, more training is needed to promote bilaterally balanced chewing among women.

In this paper, the combined system equation of motion, which can analyze the dynamic interaction between pantograph and catenary system, is derived by adopting absolute nodal coordinates and rigid body coordinates. The analysis results are compared with real experiment data from test running of Korean high-speed train (HSR 350x). In addition, a computation method for the dynamic stress of contact wire is presented using the derived system equation of motion. This method might be good example and significant in that the structural and multibody dynamics model can be unified into one numerical system.
Background: This study used Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) pancreatic cancer data to identify predictive models and potential socio-economic disparities in pancreatic cancer outcome. Materials and Methods: For risk modeling, Kaplan Meier method was used for cause specific survival analysis. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov's test was used to compare survival curves. The Cox proportional hazard method was applied for multivariate analysis. The area under the ROC curve was computed for predictors of absolute risk of death, optimized to improve efficiency. Results: This study included 58,747 patients. The mean follow up time (S.D.) was 7.6 (10.6) months. SEER stage and grade were strongly predictive univariates. Sex, race, and three socio-economic factors (county level family income, rural-urban residence status, and county level education attainment) were independent multivariate predictors. Racial and socio-economic factors were associated with about 2% difference in absolute cause specific survival. Conclusions: This study s found significant effects of socio-economic factors on pancreas cancer outcome. These data may generate hypotheses for trials to eliminate these outcome disparities.
