The Relationships of Knowledge and Attitudes about Cancer, Empathy, and Attitudes about Child with Cancer in Upper Primary School Children (일 지역 초등학생의 암에 대한 지식, 태도, 공감과 암환아에 대한 태도의 관계)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify upper primary school children's knowledge and attitude about cancer, empathy, and attitudes about child with cancer, and to examine the relations between these variables and factors that influence. Methods: Methods: The participants included 474 fifth and sixth grade students. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients, ANOVA and Tukey test with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Mean scores were for knowledge about cancer 6.03 out of a possible 1, attitude about cancer 2.23 out of a possible 5, attitudes about child with cancer 1.11 out of a possible 3, and empathy 3.18 out of a possible 5. There were significant differences in knowledge about cancer according to school grades and parents' interest in health management. Attitude about cancer showed significant differences according to harmony of family life, worries about cancer, school life, academic achievement, school parents' interest in health management and cancer education. Empathy showed significant differences according to school grades, gender, school life, harmony of family life, and parents' interest in health management. Attitudes about child with cancer showed significant differences according to school grades, school life, and parents' interest in health management. Knowledge about cancer and empathy showed a positive correlation with attitudes about child with cancer. Knowledge and attitude about cancer, and empathy showed a significant influence on attitudes about child with cancer. Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that development of an appropriate knowledge and attitudes about cancer, and empathy by late school-aged children should lead to the positive attitudes about child with cancer.

A study of the understanding about speech therapy and the satisfaction about counseling for mothers who have children with disability (언어치료에 대한 장애아동 어머니의 이해도와 상담 만족도)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the understanding about speech therapy and the satisfaction of counseling about speech therapy according to the characteristics of mothers who have children with disabilities, and to devise the clinical instruction methods to provide the effective speech therapy by identifying the correlation between the two variables. Methods: This study conducted a survey for 78 mothers of children with disabilities who use speech therapy labs in university. 17 questions were composed to investigate the understanding degree about speech therapy and 24 questions were composed to investigate the satisfaction degree about speech therapy counseling. Results: First, the survey showed that mothers who have the higher education level have the higher understanding degree about language(p<0.01). Second, the survey showed that mothers who have the higher education level have the lower satisfaction degree about counseling process(p<0.5). In the view of job status, mothers who have a job have the higher satisfaction degree about counseling time(p<0.5). Third, the survey showed that in the view of mothers'understanding degree about speech therapy and satisfaction degree about counseling, mothers who have the higher understanding degree about language, speech therapy tools and speech therapy area have the higher satisfaction degree about counseling. Conclusions: This study showed the necessity to understand the subjects'needs exactly and communicate with mothers actively. In addition, the concrete and various methods should be devised in order to increase the understanding degree about speech therapy and increase the satisfaction degree of counseling about the clinical practice environment and language therapy process.

The Actual Conditions of the Management of the Factory Ship GAECHEOG (공모선(工母船) 개척호(開拓號)의 운용(運用)에 관한 실태(實態) 분석(分析))

  • This thesis is studied by means of operation diary of the factory ship GAECHEOG in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Bering from Jul. 1993 to Dec. 1996, We summarize these results as follows : 1. The factory ship GAECHEOG equipped trawl winch able to haul raw fish 700M/T per day and cargo winch able to unload manufactured goods 900M/T. The crews consist of 290~330 persons. 2. Factory machineries equipped surimi making plant able to process about 150M/T per day and fish meal plant able to manufacture about 70M/T per day. 3. The fishing ground from June to Nov. was the western Bering sea lying in the eastern Kamchaka peninsula and from Dec. to May, the fishing period to gather roe of a Pollack, was the Sea of Ohotsk lying in the western Kamchaka peninsula. 4. The buying catch of fish per each voyage from Dec. to May, the fishing period gathering Pollack-roe, was about 17,000~33,000M/T and from Jul. to Oct., the fishing period gathering non Pollack-roe, was about 10,000~21,000 M/T. 5. Raw fish was the most about 33,000M/T of the 2nd voyage in 1994 and was the least about 8,300M/T of the 1st voyage in 1993. Other voyages were about 13,000~18,000M/T. 6. The Pollack buying from Jul. to Nov. in the Bering sea was 5~7 fishes for one row in pan and body length about 40~50cm, and from Dec. to May in the Sea of Ohotsk was 6~8 fishes for one row in pan and body length about 37~45cm. 7. Surimi production in the 2nd voyage in 1994 was the most about 7,300 M/T, in the 1st voyage in 1993 was the least 1,900M/T and in other voyages was about 2,500~3,800M/T. The extraction rate of surimi goods for raw fish was about 17.4~26.5%. 8. Fish meal production in the 2nd voyage in 1994 was the most about 2,300 M/T, in the 1st voyage in 1993 was the least about 780M/T and in other voyages was about 1,100~1,700M/T. The extraction rate of fish meal goods for raw fish was about 7.3~10.7%. 9. Pollack-roe production was very much from Jan. to Apr. and was about 380~700M/T per each voyage. The extraction rate of Pollack-roe for raw fish was about 1.2~4.9%.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate how the types of awareness of cost and benefit of consumer complaining behavior about the private educational institute services were classified, how different demographic and consumer complaining rebated characteristics were according to the types of awareness of cost and benefit about consumer complaining behavior, and what were the determinant factors of the types of awareness of cost and benefit about consumer complaining behavior. The survey of this study was conducted by means of self-administered questionnaire with 546 university students living in Seoul and Cheongjoo. They had an experience of studying in the private educational institute in recent two years. Major findings were as following: (1) The types of awareness of cost and benefit of consumer complaining behavior about the private educational institute services were classified into four - awareness of high cost and low benefit, high cost and high benefit, low cost and medium benefit, medium cost and medium benefit. (2) The attitude about complaints, the confidence of success about complaint, and the knowledge about complaints were different significantly according to the types of awareness of cost and benefit about consumer complaining behavior. (3) The types of awareness of cost and benefit about consumer complaining behavior were different significantly according to only a school year among demographic characteristics. (4) The determinant factors of the types of awareness of cost and benefit about consumer complaining behavior were the attitude about complaints, the confidence of success about complaints, the knowledge about complaints, and the major field of study.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the effective pain management care for post operative patients through understanding patient's knowledge and attitude about pain-management. The data was collected by distributing structured questionnaires to 200 inpatients in 2 secondary hospitals located in Ulsan, beginning June 28, 2010 to August 11, 2010, and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient. The level of Knowledge about pain management postperations was $6.44{\pm}2.03$. The level of attitude about pain management postperations was $6.92{\pm}1.78$. The significant differences were founded within the inpatient's knowledge about pain management according to the inpatient's demographic data:Age(F=5.55, p=.01), Marital status(t=-2.17, p=.03). The significant differences were founded within the inpatient's attitude about pain management according to the inpatient's demographic data:Job(F=3.45, p=.03). Developing educational material and guidebooks is needed to form more positive about pain-control after operations. This study researched only inpatient's knowledge and attitude about pain-management, but researching nurses, doctors, inpatients and family member's knowledge and attitude should be included in following studies.

  • The great sudenn change of circle of dental laboratory technology brought mary discord between the new growing environmental group and the old group, In order to know the satisfactory degree of dental laboratory heads about all dental College, This Study was conducted for 49 detal technicians who graduated from junior laboratory heads in Seoul and Kyoung Gi area. The results are abtained as follow- 1. By age The degree of Satisfaction of items about all graduate dental technician were "41$\sim$45 age" group 26.53%), "46$\sim$50 age" group 22.45%, "36$\sim$40 age" group 18.36%, "31$\sim$35 age" group 12.24%, "51$\sim$55 age" group and "56$\sim$60 age" group 8.16% 60$\sim$age group 4.08% in order. 2. By Job Career. The Highest degree item out of Satisfaction about all graduated dental dental technician was 21$\sim$25 years group 28.5%, 16$\sim$20 years 20.4%, 11$\sim$15 years group 12.24%, 26$\sim$20%, 6$\sim$10 years group 4.08%, below 5 years group 2.04% in order. 3. By managing term of respondent's dental laboratory. The Satisfactory degree of items about all gradate technician were 7$\sim$10 years group 36.73% over 15 years group 22.45%, 11$\sim$14 years group 20.41%, 3$\sim$6 years group 14.29% below 2 years group 6.12% in order 4. The satisfactory degree of items about man greduate dental technician were neither good nor bad group 34.69 %, bad group 10.20%, about woman graduate dental technician were neither good nor bad group 44.90%, bad group 10.20%, Their employment prospect is not so bright or oprimistic due to the glut supply by graduates in the job-seeking market 13. The top ratio, while the satisfaction reate on the academic study period of "3-year" group shared 22%, also the top ratio. 16. The improvement policy and prblematic issues presonted by the owner and operatore of atriticial dental manufacturing plants are as shown below First; The viewpoint that they contribute to the improvement of people's oral health in terms of their mission as artificial dental technicians. Second: The cultivation of basic technical ability to cope with clinical practice upon graduation Third; They require guidance in study and research in their filed of profession, that tray may beable to estaclish a from theory.

A Network Analysis of the Middle School Student's Conceptions about the Force and Motion (힘과 운동에 대한 중학생들의 개념조사)

  • This paper was made for the purpose of examining middle school student's conception about force and motion. Using questionaire method. this research was executed to 180 students at a middle school in Seoul. Questions were as following; 3 questions about relation of the direction of force and that of motion in case of throwing a ball up, 2 questions about parabolic motion. 1 question about inertia. and 1 question about action and reaction. The way of answering was both selecting and explaining the students' thought about questions. Network analysis was used for analyzing students' various responses. Through the analysis. some types of students' thought were revealed. As a result the representation of their response was motion implies force which had been discovered by earlier researchers. Even though students had learned about force and motion in the classroom. their ideas were unchanged or even reinforced wrongly in some case.

Concerns about Teenage Obesity and Diet Behaviors: Middle and High School Students in Ulsan

  • This study is to investigate the concerns about obesity and diet behaviors among 565 middle and high school students in Ulsan. The results indicated that high school students rather than middle school students and girls rather than boys had higher concerns about obesity and diet behaviors. For the socio-economic variables, being female, a high school student, and a group with the least monthly allowance was higher concern about obesity and diet; and household income, educational level and occupation of the fathers also had significant impacts on the student concerns about obesity and diet behaviors. The variables of height, weight, PIBW (Percentage of Ideal Body Weight), and BMI (Body Mass Index) had significant impacts on the concerns about obesity and diet behaviors. Especially, students with normal weight had the highest concerns about obesity and diet, while obese students had the lowest concerns. (J Community Nutrition 7(4): $184\∼192$, 2005)

  • The purposes of this treatise are to compare theories of theatre in 'Kwandaega' with theories of theatre in 'Poongjahwajun', to recognize differences of theories between the former and the latter, and to find out the comparative characteristics of theories of Korean theatre. There are four differences between the former and the latter. These are as follows; Firstly, in the aspect of contents, the former is consisted of discussions about nature of theatre, discussions about acting, discussions about staging, and the latter is consisted of discussions about nature of theatre, discussions about acting, discussions about staging, discussions about origin, and discussions about dramaturgy. Secondly, in the aspect of nature, the nature of theatre in the former is recognition and practice as 'homo performans', the nature of theatre in the latter is realization of 'flower[花]'. Thirdly, in the aspect of acting, discussions about acting of the former are consisted of 'Sachae' theory'(Inmulchirae, Sasulchirae, Dekm, Nerumsae), discussions about acting of the latter are consisted of method of training per ages, method of training per role playings, trainings in everyday life. Fourthly, in the aspect of staging, the focus of staging in the former is realization of an endless series of changes[千變萬化], the focus of staging in the latter is realization of 'flower[花]'. There are four characteritics in the theories of Kwangdaega. These are as follows; Firstly, the contents of kwangdaega are consisted of discussions about nature of theatre, discussions about acting, discussions about staging. This theory is theory centered on actor/actress. Secondly, the nature of thestre in Kwangdaega is recognition and practice as 'homo performans', supporting of self-generational values, supporting of folk, new interpretation about secularism. Thirdly, the discussions about acting are consist of 'Sachae Theory'. Fourthly, the discussions about staging are consisted of realizations of an endless series of changes[千變萬化]

A Study on the kowledge and attitude about senile dementia of the elderly (일부 재가노인의 치매에 대한 지식과 태도)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the elderly and their family kowledge about senile dementia and to get them to have positive attitude about senile dementia. The subjects were 204 elderly who lived in the whole country. The data were collected from Sep. to Dec., 1998, using a 36 items questionnaire and analyzed by SAS program for t-test, ANOVA. Scheffe test, Pearson Correlation Coefficients. The results were as follows: 1. The mean score of knowledge about senile dementia was $9.33\pm2.68$(range 0-15), The elderly who was unschooled, lived in Kyung Sang province, didn't have any hobby or interest, didn't access to informations about senile dementia got lower score than the others. 2. The examples of knowledge test items about senile dementia that the subjects above fifty percents answered uncorrectly were 'the patient of senile dementia doesn't die soon', 'senile dementia is uncurable disease', 'the symptoms of senile dementia is apparent in new and strange circumstances', 'the pood and lonely elderly is apt to have senile dementia'. 3. The mean score of attitude about senile dementia was $15.87\pm2.25$(range 0-20) and attitude about senile dementia was relatively positve. Attitude about senile dementia by general characteristic was not significantly different. 4. The examples of attitude test items about senile dementia to which the majority of subjects agreed were 'It is a pity to see the patient suffered from senile dementia', 'It is difficult to take care of senile dementia patient' and so on. 5. The correlation between kowledge and attitude about senile dementia was very low. Therefore this study suggests that it is crucial to educate the elderly and their family to induce positive attitude about senile dementia.
