  • The probabilistic order level inventory model is developed when a supplier allows some credit period T for settling the accounts for purchase quantity. The credit period T is known constant. Mathematical models are derived for both the cases i) T'.leq. T and ii) T'>T. Expressions are derived for average expected total cost of the system, the optimum cycle time and for obtaining optimum order level S = S$_{0}$ in each case. The exmaples are given to illustrate the model.

  • This paper analyzes how a buyer can determine the economic replenishment policy when the supplier allows delay in payments for an order of a product. For the analysis, it is assumed that the length of credit period is a function of the buyer's amount of purchase, and inventory is depleted not only by buyer's demand but also by deterioration. Investigation of the properties of the model developed allows us to develop an algorithm whose validity is illustrated using an example problem.

  • Credit transactions are used as a means of price discrimination from competitors in order for suppliers to increase customer demand. In particular, in the case of a two-stage supply chain consisting of a supplier, a retailer, and a customer, the deferral of payment for goods allowed by the supplier is a means of reducing the inventory investment cost of the retailer. Retailers have the opportunity to discount the selling price while anticipating an increase in end-customer demand through the reduction of the inventory investment cost. In view of the fact that such trade credit is provided for the purpose of increasing demand as a means of discrimination from competitors, it may be more general that the credit transaction period is allowed flexibly according to the transaction volume. In particular, in the case of deteriorating products, the credit transaction period given according to the order volume is a factor that increases the order volume of the retailer, but product deterioration can be a limiting factor in the increase in the order volume. The deterioration rate actually plays an important role in determining the inventory policy of the retailer. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of such deterioration rate on the inventory policy of retailer is analyzed.

  • This paper deals with the problem of determining the buyer's economic lot sizing policy for exponentially deteriorating products under trade credit. Assuming that the supplier's credit terms are already known and the length of delay is a function of the buyer's order size, we formulate the mathematical model and the solution algorithm is developed based on the properties of an optimal solution.

  • This paper analyzes the problem of the economic order quantity (lot size) of a retailer in a two-stage supply chain consisting of a supplier, a retailer(distributor), and a customer. In this two-stage supply chain, the supplier permits the retailer to defer payment for a certain fixed period of time for the purchase cost to be paid by the retailer as a price differentiation strategy with his competitor. In addition, in the case of customer goods such as food and grain, it is common to see that end-customer demand is generally depend on the level of inventory displayed by the retailer. From this perspective, this paper analyzes the inventory problem of retailers under the assumption that the supplier may allow a certain period to suspend payments for the purchase of goods and the end customer demand is a function of the retailer's inventory level increasing with size. In this regard, we need to analyze how much the length of the grace period for product purchase costs affect the retailer's lot-sizing policy. Therefore, we formulate the retailer's annual net profit and analyze the effect of the length of credit period on the retailer's inventory policy numerically.

  • Trade credit refers to a transaction where a product supplier allows an distributor to defer payment for a certain period of time for the purchase cost of the products. This practice is generally permitted as a means of differentiation between competing companies. Such trade credit is commonly granted based on the volume of transactions, aiming to increase customer orders. From the perspective of the distributor, trade credit allows for a deferred payment period for the purchase cost, leading to cost savings in inventory investment. These cost savings in inventory investment can be a factor in reducing selling prices with the aim of increasing customer demand. In this study, we analyze a model that determines the optimal selling price and order quantity from the perspective of the distributor, assuming that the supplier allows a deferred payment period dependent on the transaction volume. We assume that the final customer's annual demand exhibits an exponential decrease with respect to the distributor's selling price, using a constant price elasticity function. To analyze the problem, we assume that the product deteriorates at a constant rate over time and aim to establish an inventory model for the intermediate distributor. We also want to analyze the impact of deterioration on the inventory policies of the intermediate distributor.

  • As an effective means of price discrimination, some suppliers offer trade credit to the distributors for the purpose of increasing the demand of the product they produce. The availability of the delay in payments from the supplier enables discount of the distributor's selling price from a wider range of the price option in anticipation of increased customer's demand. In this regard, we consider the problem of determining the distributor's optimal price and lot size simultaneously when the supplier permits delay in payments for an order of a product whose demand rate is represented by a constant price elasticity function. It is assumed that the distributor pays the shipping cost for the order and hence, the distributor's ordering cost consists of a fixed ordering cost and the shipping cost that depend on the order quantity. For the analysis, it is also assumed that inventory is depleted not only by customer's demand but also by decay. We are able to develop a solution algorithm from the properties of the mathematical model. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the algorithm developed.
