  • In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy neural control of unknown nonlinear systems based on the rapid learning algorithm is proposed for optimal parameterization. We combine the advantages of fuzzy control and neural network techniques to develop an adaptive fuzzy control system for updating nonlinear parameters of controller. The Fuzzy Neural Network(FNN), which is constructed by an equivalent four-layer connectionist network, is able to learn to control a process by updating the membership functions. The free parameters of the AFN controller are adjusted on-line according to the control law and adaptive law for the purpose of controlling the plant track a given trajectory and it's initial values are off-line preprocessing, In order to improve the convergence of the learning process, we propose a rapid learning algorithm which combines the error back-propagation algorithm with Aitken's $\delta$$\^$2/ algorithm. The heart of this approach ls to reduce the computational burden during the FNN learning process and to improve convergence speed. The simulation results for nonlinear plant demonstrate the control effectiveness of the proposed system for optimal parameterization.

  • This paper addresses the structure and its associated learning algorithms of a feedforward multi-layered connectionist network, which has distributed learning abilities, for realizing the basic elements and functions of a traditional fuzzy logic controller. The proposed neural-network-based fuzzy logic control system (NN-FLCS) can be contrasted with the traditional fuzzy logic control system in their network structure and learning ability. An on-line supervised structure/parameter learning algorithm dynamic learning algorithm can find proper fuzzy logic rules, membership functions, and the size of output fuzzy partitions simultaneously. Next, a Reinforcement Neural-Network-Based Fuzzy Logic Control System (RNN-FLCS) is proposed which consists of two closely integrated Neural-Network-Based Fuzzy Logic Controllers (NN-FLCS) for solving various reinforcement learning problems in fuzzy logic systems. One NN-FLC functions as a fuzzy predictor and the other as a fuzzy controller. As ociated with the proposed RNN-FLCS is the reinforcement structure/parameter learning algorithm which dynamically determines the proper network size, connections, and parameters of the RNN-FLCS through an external reinforcement signal. Furthermore, learning can proceed even in the period without any external reinforcement feedback.

  • A fault tolerant satellite attitude control scheme with a modified iterative learning law is proposed for dealing with actuator faults. The actuator fault is modeled to reflect the degradation of actuation effectiveness, and the solar array-induced disturbance is considered as an external disturbance. To estimate the magnitudes of the actuator fault and the external disturbance, a modified iterative learning law using only the information associated with the state error is applied. Stability analysis is performed to obtain the gain matrices of the modified iterative learning law using the Lyapunov theorem. The proposed fault tolerant control scheme is applied to the rest-to-rest maneuver of a large satellite system, and numerical simulations are performed to verify the performance of the proposed scheme.

  • Many control applications using Neural Network need a priori information about the objective system. But it is impossible to get exact information about the objective system in real world. To solve this problem, several control methods were proposed. Reinforcement learning control using neural network is one of them. Basically reinforcement learning control doesn't need a priori information of objective system. This method uses reinforcement signal from interaction of objective system and environment and observable states of objective system as input data. But many methods take too much time to apply to real-world. So we focus on faster learning to apply reinforcement learning control to real-world. Two data types are used for reinforcement learning. One is reinforcement signal data. It has only two fixed scalar values that are assigned for each success and fail state. The other is observable state data. There are infinitive states in real-world system. So the number of observable state data is also infinitive. This requires too much learning time for applying to real-world. So we try to reduce the number of observable states by classification of states with Self-Organizing Map. We also use neural dynamic programming for controller design. An inverted pendulum on the cart system is simulated. Failure signal is used for reinforcement signal. The failure signal occurs when the pendulum angle or cart position deviate from the defined control range. The control objective is to maintain the balanced pole and centered cart. And four states that is, position and velocity of cart, angle and angular velocity of pole are used for state signal. Learning controller is composed of serial connection of Self-Organizing Map and two Multi-layer Feed-Forward Neural Networks.

  • As an adaptive control function generator, the CMAC (Cerebellar Model Arithmetic or Articulated Controller) based learning control has drawn a great attention to realize a rather robust real-time manipulator control under the various uncertainties. There remain, however, inherent problems to be solved in the CMAC application to robot motion control or perception of sensory information. To apply the CMAC to the various unmodeled or modeled systems more efficiently, It is necessary to analyze the effects of the CMAC control parameters an the trained net. Although the CMAC control parameters such as size of the quantizing block, learning gain, input offset, and ranges of input variables play a key role in the learning performance and system memory requirement, these have not been fully investigated yet. These parameters should be determined, of course, considering the shape of the desired function to be trained and learning algorithms applied. In this paper, the interrelation of these parameters with learning performance is investigated under the basic learning schemes presented by authors. Since an analytic approach only seems to be very difficult and even impossible for this purpose, various simulations have been performed with prespecified functions and their results were analyzed. A general step following design guide was set up according to the various simulation results.

  • The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of physical education classes based on Flipped Learning on self-directed learning abilities and learning attitude towards these classes, for middle school students. The study selected 90 students as an experimental group (3 classes) and 97 students as a control group (3 classes), among 240 students of the first-year students attending a middle school located at Jeonju City of South Korea, applying convenience sampling, one of the non-probability sampling methods. For the experimental group, 36 sessions of physical education classes were held for 14 weeks, while the control group received teacher-centered classes. Comparing the results with the control group, the experimental group showed significant differences in terms of all sub factors of self-directed learning abilities, namely; desire for learning, learning objective establishment, basic self-management abilities, selection of learning strategy and self-reflection. Moreover, the experimental group manifested significant differences in terms of all sub factors of attitude towards the physical education subjects, namely; positive emotions, negative emotions, health & physical strength, interpersonal relations, physical activities & movements, and active participation & positive performance. From the findings, it can be considered that physical education classes based on Flipped Learning contributed to improving self-directed learning abilities and attitude towards physical education classes. This result can serve as a significant basic material for designing and performing classes in raising the understanding of Flipped Learning and effectively applying Flipped Learning in physical education classes.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how flipped learning strategy affects learners' self-regulating ability in both general English and Spanish, based on the study hypothesis that self-regulating learning ability of general English learners will make a meaningful difference in comparison to that of traditional learning. The study was also focused on how flipped learning was related to learners' self-regulating ability. From September 10, 2018 to December 10, 2018, a total of 81 students in general English and Spanish were surveyed in which three sub areas of self-regulating learning (cognitive, motivational, and behavioral control) were considered, and which were divided into six sub-domains, a total of 65 items were composed. Although not very significant results were shown in the case of motivational control, both English and Spanish classes have statistically significant differences in cognitive and behavioral self-regulating learning abilities.

  • A neural controller for process control was proposed that combines a simple feedback controller with a neural network. This control was applied to distillation control. The feedback error learning technique was used for on-line learning. Important characteristics on neural controller were analyzed. The proposed neural controller can cope well with strong interactions, significant time delays, sudden changes in process dynamics without any prior knowledge of the process. It was shown that the neural controller has good features such as fault tolerance, interpolation effect and random learning capability

  • In this study, the basic motor control system had been investigated. The controller for this study consists of two main parts, a feedforward controller part and a feedback controller part. Each part will deals with different control problems. The feedback controller deals with robustness and stability, while the feedforward controller deals with response speed. The feedforward controller, used to solve the tracking control problem, is adaptable. To make such a tracking perfect, an adaptive law based on Feedback Error Learning (FEL) is designed so that the feedforward controller becomes an inverse system of the controlled plant. The novelty of FEL method lies in its use of feedback error as a teaching signal for learning the inverse model. The theory in $H^{\infty}$-Control is selected to be applied in the feedback part to guarantee the stability and solve the robust stabilization problems. The simulation of each individual part and the integrated one are taken to clarify the study.
