As human-friendly robot techniques improve, the concept of the wearability of robotic arms becomes important. A master arm that detects human arm motion and provides virtual forces to the operator is an embodied concept of a wearable robotic arm. In this study, we design a 7 DOF wearable robotic arm with high joint torques. An operator wearing this robotic arm can move around freely because this robotic arm was designed to have its fixed point at the shoulder part of the operator. The proposed robotic arm uses parallel mechanisms at the shoulder part and the wrist part on the model of the human muscular structure of an upper limb. To reduce the computational load in solving the forward kinematics and to prevent singularity motions of the parallel mechanism, yawing motion of the parallel mechanisms was separated using a slip ling mechanism. The total weight of the proposed robotic arm is about 4 kg. An experimental result of force tracking test for the pneumatic control system and an application example for VR robot are described to show the validity of the robot.
In this paper, we present a novel blind adaptive multiuser detector structure and three robust recursive filters to improve the performance in CDMA environments: Sigma point kalman filter (SPKF), particle filter (PF), and Gaussian mixture sigma point particle filter (GMSPPF). Our proposed robust recursive filters have superior performance over a conventional extended Kalman filter (EKF). The proposed multiuser detector algorithms initially use Kalman prediction form to estimated channel parameters, and unknown data symbol be predicted. Second, based on this predicted data symbol, the robust recursive filters (e.g., GMSPPF) is a refined estimation of joint multipaths and time delays. With these estimated multipaths and time delays, data symbol detection is carried out (Kalman correction form). Computer simulations show that the proposed algorithms outperform the conventional blind multiuser detector with the EKF. Also we can see it provides a more viable means for tracking time-varying amplitudes and time delays in CDMA communication systems, compared to that of the EKF for near-far ratio of 20 dB. For this reason, it is believed that the proposed channel estimators can replace well-known filter such as the EKF.
Using an inverse of the geometric Jacobian matrix is one of the most popular ways to control robot manipulators, because the Jacobian matrix contains the relationship between joint space velocities and operational space velocities. However, the control algorithm based on Jacobian matrix has algorithmic singularities: The robot manipulator becomes unstable when the Jacobian matrix loses rank. To solve this problem, various methods such as damped and filtered inverse have been proposed, but comparative studies to evaluate the performance of these algorithms are insufficient. Thus, this paper deals with a comparative analysis of six representative singularity avoidance algorithms: Damped Pseudo Inverse, Error Damped Pseudo Inverse, Scaled Jacobian Transpose, Selectively Damped Inverse, Filtered Inverse, and Task Transition Method. Especially, these algorithms are verified through computer simulations with a virtual model of a humanoid robot, THORMANG, in order to evaluate tracking error, computational time, and multiple task performance. With the experimental results, this paper contains a deep discussion about the effectiveness and limitations of each algorithm.
The ability to realize human-motion imitation using robots is closely related to developments in the field of artificial intelligence. However, it is not easy to imitate human motions entirely owing to the physical differences between the human body and robots. In this paper, we propose a work chain-based inverse kinematics to enable a robot to imitate the human motion of upper limbs in real time. Two work chains are built on each arm to ensure that there is motion similarity, such as the end effector trajectory and the joint-angle configuration. In addition, a two-phase filter is used to remove the interference and noise, together with a self-collision avoidance scheme to maintain the stability of the robot during the imitation. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of our solution on the humanoid robot Nao-H25 in terms of accuracy and real-time performance.

In this paper, we propose the method that automatically extracts the silhouette and the joints of consecutive input image, and track joints to trace object for interaction between human and computer. Also the proposed method presents the action of human being to map human body using joints. To implement the algorithm, we model human body using 14 joints to refer to body size. The proposed method converts RGB color image acquired through a single camera to hue, saturation, value images and extracts body's silhouette using the difference between the background and input. Then we automatically extracts joints using the corner points of the extracted silhouette and the data of body's model. The motion of object is tracted by applying block-matching method to areas around joints among all image and the human's motion is mapped using positions of joints. The proposed method is applied to the test videos and the result shows that the proposed method automatically extracts joints and effectively maps human body by the detected joints. Also the human's action is aptly expressed to reflect locations of the joints
In this study, a real-time evaluation system for quantitative dynamic fitting during pedaling was developed. The system is consisted of LED markers, a digital camera connected to a computer and a marker detecting program. LED markers are attached to hip, knee, ankle joint and fifth metatarsal in the sagittal plane. Playstation3 eye which is selected as a main digital camera in this paper has many merits for using motion capture, such as high FPS (Frame per second) about 180FPS, $320{\times}240$ resolution, and low-cost with easy to use. The maker detecting program was made by using Labview2010 with Vision builder. The program was made up of three parts, image acquisition & processing, marker detection & joint angle calculation, and output section. The digital camera's image was acquired in 95FPS, and the program was set-up to measure the lower-joint angle in real-time, providing the user as a graph, and allowing to save it as a test file. The system was verified by pedalling at three saddle heights (knee angle: 25, 35, $45^{\circ}$) and three cadences (30, 60, 90 rpm) at each saddle heights by using Holmes method, a method of measuring lower limbs angle, to determine the saddle height. The result has shown low average error and strong correlation of the system, respectively, $1.18{\pm}0.44^{\circ}$, $0.99{\pm}0.01^{\circ}$. There was little error due to the changes in the saddle height but absolute error occurred by cadence. Considering the average error is approximately $1^{\circ}$, it is a suitable system for quantitative dynamic fitting evaluation. It is necessary to decrease error by using two digital camera with frontal and sagittal plane in future study.

In this paper, we design a robust output feedback controller for robot manipulators with bounded parametric uncertainties using high-gain observer. The proposed control scheme with integral action improves tracking error due to limit of the robust feedback gains. High-gain observer is used to solve the noise problem with the joint velocity measurement. This controller avoids the limitation on the variation of unknown parameters and guarantees the uniformly ultimate boundedness of the closed-loop system. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulation on a 2-link manipulator.
COsmicheskaya Sisteyama Poiska Avariynich Sudov Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking (COSPAS-SARSAT) is an international communication support program to perform search and rescue (SAR) operations in emergency situations by using satellite signals relayed from a beacon. The legacy COSPAS-SARSAT was originally composed of low altitude and geostationary Earth orbit satellites; thus, a limited number of directional dish antennas was sufficient to cover the limited number of visible satellites at the local user terminal. However, the second generation COSPAS-SARSAT newly added the medium Earth orbit satellites, e.g., Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) to the existing system, so that the number of visible satellites increase dramatically, and the system upgrade to cover all the visible satellites is foreseen. The additional use of planned Korea Positioning System (KPS) to existing GNSS is envisaged to provide a better performance of their SAR service. This paper presents the benefits of the additional use of KPS together with the phased array antennas at the local user terminal of the COSPAS-SARSAT. This is to effectively response to the increase of the number of visible satellites. Numerical simulation is included to evaluate the performance improvement of COSPAS-SARSAT in terms of the number of visible satellites, geometry between satellites and user, and position estimation accuracy.

This paper presents a new approach to the design of adaptive control system using DSPs(TMS320C31) for robotic manpulators to achieve accurate trajectory tracking by the joint angles Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithms to provide an enhanced motion control for robotic manipulators. In the proposed contorl scheme, adaptation laws are derived from the improved Lyapunov second stability analysis method based on the adaptive model reference control theory. The adaptive controller consists of an adaptive feedforward controller, feedback controller, and PID type time varying auxillary control elements. The proposed adaptive control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Morever, this scheme does not require an accurate dynamic modeling nor values of manpipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the adaptive controller is illustated by simulation and experimental results for a SCARA robot.

In this study, we describe a new approach to real-time implementation of working path control for the forging and casting manufacturing process by vertical type articulated robot system. The proposed control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and useful for real-time control of factory automation based on robot system. Moreover, this scheme does not require any accurate parameter information, nor values of the uncertain parameters and payload variations. Reliability of the proposed controller is proved by simulation and experimental results for robot manipulator consisting of arm with six degrees of freedom under the variation of payloads and tracking trajectories in Cartesian space and joint space. The vertical type articulated robot manipulator with six axes made in SMEC Co., Ltd. has been used for real-time implementation test to illustrate the enhanced working path control performance for unmanned automation of the forging and casting manufacturing process.
