Large Scale Fading값만을 피드백하는 분산 안테나 시스템을 위한 최적 전력 할당 (Optimum Power Allocation for Distributed Antenna Systems with Large Scale Fading-only Feedback)

  • 본 논문에서는 time-varying Rayleigh fading channel에서 분산 안테나 시스템의 최적 전력 분배 기법을 제안한다. 기존 관련 연구에서는 각 기지국으로부터 수신되는 전력의 차이를 기지국간 전력 분배에 고려하지 않았으나, 최근 들어 빠르게 변하는 small scale fading까지 Channel State Information (CSI)로하여 전력 분배를 하는 경우에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 하지만, 실제 무선통신 환경에서 송수신단간의 거리 차이 때문에 피드백이 반영된 신호가 수신될 때의 페이딩 채널은 피드백을 하는 시점과는 차이가 있고, 이로 인한 성능저하가 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 성능저하를 극복하고 CSI 피드백의 부담을 경감시키기 위하여 small scale fading을 제외하고, 느리게 변하는 경로손실과, 섀도잉에 의한 large scale fading값만을 피드백하는 분산 안테나 시스템을 제안하고 Bit Error Rate (BER)을 최소화하기 위한 최적 전력 분배 공식을 유도했다. 빠른 페이딩 환경에서, 제안된 최적 전력 분배 기법이 small scale fading까지 고려한 전력 분배 기법보다 월등히 좋은 성능을 보이며, 피드백 지연이 없는 환경에서도 1dB 이내의 성능을 보이는 것을 확인했다. 또한, 본 논문에서 Rayleigh fading channel을 가정하여 유도한 전력 분배 기법이 Line-of-Sight (LOS) 성분의 크기가 작은 Ricean fading channel에서도 최소의 BER과 거의 비슷한 값을 달성함을 보였다.

Photochromic 렌즈의 광변색 이동 (Change of color transfer of Photochromic lens)

  • Photochoromic lens에 광을 조사하면 darkening 상태와 fading상태에서photo-transmittance는 감소한다. 광의 조사를 제거하면 fading 상태가 되어 photo-transmittance는 원래 상태로 회복하는 가역과정을 갖는다. 자체 제작한 Photochoromic lens에서 darkening과 fading 과정에서 Photochromism의 분광측색계를 이용하여 CIE $L^*a^*b^*$의 색 좌표을 얻는다. darkening과 fading상태에서 색 좌표($a^*-b^*$)는 일차 곡선이고 (-) 기울기를 이며, 선형적으로 변한다. 색 좌표 이동량은 Blue ${\rightarrow}$ Yellow, Red ${\rightarrow}$ Green형태이다. fading상태에서 색 좌표는 darkening 상태보다 $b^*$ 값이 낮고, Photochromism 좌표의 이동은 darkening 상태와 반대로 이동한다. Photochoromic lens에 대한 Photochoromism 평가 방법은 darkening과 fading에 대한 색 좌표 이동으로 이용 할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 협력통신을 위한 coded cooperation 시스템의 성능 분석을 기술한다. Coded cooperation은 user cooperation과 채널 부호의 결합된 프로토콜로서 기존의 coded cooperation의 연구는 주로 이동통신 환경을 고려한 Rayleigh fading 채널에서 이루어 졌다. 최근에 초고속 근거리 무선전송을 위한 60GHz 대역의 반송파를 이용한 연구가 활발해 지면서 Rician fading 채널 기반의 협력통신 분석에 대한 필요성이 제기되었다. 본 논문에서는 coded cooperation 시스템의 outage probability 성능과 bit error probability의 성능을 Rician fading 채널에서 분석하고 Rayleigh fading 채널에서와 같이 다이버시티 오더 값이 2로 유지됨을 보인다.

  • This paper presents the RAKE receiver over a multipath fading channel. This interference between the propagation paths in a multipath fading causes a serious degradation in the mobile communication environment. In order to derive the path interference and reduce the fading effect, the RAKE receiver is used. As a result, the RAKE receiver gives a better performance than the DS / SS receiver over a multipath fading channel.

A Study of TCP Performance with Snoop Protocol over Fading Wireless Links

  • In this paper, we have analyzed TCP performance over wireless correlated fading links with and without Snoop protocol. For a given value of the packet error rate, TCP performance without Snoop protocol is degraded as the fading is getting fast (i.e. the user moves fast). When Snoop protocol is introduced in the base station, TCP performance is enhanced in most wireless environments. Especially the performance enhancement derived from using Snoop protocol is large in fast fading channel. This is because packet errors become random and sporadic in fast fading channel and these random packet errors (mostly single packet errors) can be compensated efficiently by Snoop protocol's local packet retransmissions. But Snoop protocol can't give a large performance improvement in slow fading environments where long bursts of packet errors occur. Concerning to packet error rate, Snoop protocol results in the highest performance enhancement in the channel with mid-high values of packet error rate. This means Snoop protocol cannot fully fulfill its ability under too low or too high packet error rate environments.

  • This paper presents the CDMA system using the RAKE receiver over a multipath fading channel and in multi-user environments. The interference between the propagation paths in a multipath fading causes a serious degradation in the mobile communication environment. In order to derive the path inteference and reduce the fading effect, the RAKE receiver is used. In a computer simulation, the path number of a fading channel and the branch number of the RAKE receiver are modified. As a result, the CDMA system using the RAKE receiver gives a better performance than the conventional CDMA system over a multipath fading channel and in multi-user environments.

Sensing Performance of Efficient Cyclostationary Detector with Multiple Antennas in Multipath Fading and Lognormal Shadowing Environments

  • Spectrum sensing is a key technical challenge for cognitive radio (CR). It is well known that multicycle cyclostationarity (MC) detection is a powerful method for spectrum sensing. However, a conventional MC detector is difficult to implement because of its high computational complexity. This paper considers reducing computational complexity by simplifying the test statistic of a conventional MC detector. On the basis of this simplification process, an improved MC detector is proposed. Compared with the conventional detector, the proposed detector has low-computational complexity and high-accuracy sensing performance. Subsequently, the sensing performance is further investigated for the cases of Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Rician, and Rayleigh fading and lognormal shadowing channels. Furthermore, square-law combining (SLC) is introduced to improve the detection capability in fading and shadowing environments. The corresponding closed-form expressions of average detection probability are derived for each case by the moment generation function (MGF) and contour integral approaches. Finally, illustrative and analytical results show the efficiency and reliability of the proposed detector and the improvement in sensing performance by SLC in multipath fading and lognormal shadowing environments.

  • in this paper, we analyzed CDD-DLL code tracking loop for tracking of direct-sequence spread-spectrum signals in a multipath fading channel. The multipath fading channel is modeled as two-ray rayleigh fading channel which is well applicable in a land mobile communication environments. We use trackin jitter variance and mean-time-to-lose-lick as performance measures. From the numerical resutls, it is shown that the effect of multipath fading decreases as SNR/bit increases. Also it is shown that CDD-DLL provides superior jitter performance compared with noncoherent DLL and jitter performance improvement is more significant for a two-ray rayleigh fading channel than an AWGN channel.

A Comparison of FFH/SSMA and DS/CDMA Communications in a Rician Fading Channel

  • In this paper, we compare the bit-error-rate performance of the fast-frequency-hopped spread-spectrum multiple-access (FFH/SSMA) and direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems in a Rician fading channel. Each system has a same data rate, bandwidth and transmits over a Rician fading channel. The results illustrate tradoffs in performance between the FFH/SSMA and DS/CDMA systems as a function of the parameters such as average signal to noise ratio and processing gain. The performance of the FFH/SSMA system is shown to be less sensitive to the change of fading environments, while the change of processing gain and average signal to noise ratio gives considerable affect to the FFH/SSMA system compared with the DS/CDMA system. Without respect to the change of system parameters, for most of Rician fading channels (except non-fading channel), FFH/SSMA system gives better performance than DS/CDMA system in BBR < 10$\^$-3/.

Non-iterative Bit Loading Algorithm for OFDM in Independent and Correlated fading

  • This paper will focus on improving the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in Rayleigh fading environments. The proposed technique will use a previously published method that has been shown to improve OFDM performance in independent fading, based on ordered sub-carrier selection. Then, a simple non-iterative method for finding the optimal bit-loading allocation was proposed. It was also based on ordered sub-carrier selection. We compared both of these algorithms to an optimal bit-loading solution to determine their effectiveness in a correlated fading environment. The correlated fading was simulated using the JTC channel models. Our intent was not to create an optimal solution, but to create a low complexity solution that can be used in a wireless environment in which the channel conditions change rapidly and that require a simple algorithm for fast bit loading.
