  • This study aims to evaluate the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) according to the change in the number of channels of the CT examination device by changing the posture of the patient to the X-axis and Y-axis in the wrist joint CT examination. Using a CT device and a wrist phantom, the test was performed by moving 0 (matched), 5, 10, and 15 cm in the X-axis around the isocenter, and the Z-axis was rotated by -20° and -40°. For the test, 16, -40 and 64 channels were used to check whether there was a difference for each number of channels. The examined images were compared by measuring the MTF values of the ulna and left and right sides of the radius. In the experiment where the isocenter was moved along the X-axis, the MTF value decreased with an increase in the moving distance, and the MTF value was found to be unaffected by the number of channels. In the experiment in which the wrist joint was rotated by -20° and -40° on the Z-axis, the degree of deviation and MTF were found to be irrelevant. It was not related to the number of channels either. In conclusion, the movement of the wrist along the X-axis should be restrained as much as possible for a wrist joint CT scan, whereas deviation around the Z-axis depending on the environment for the patient would not affect the MTF of the image.

  • Objective: This study analyzed errors due to rotation or tilt of the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging indicator during image acquisition for a stereotactic radiosurgery. The error correction procedure of a commercially available stereotactic neurosurgery treatment planning program has been verified. Materials and Methods: Software virtual phantoms were built with stereotactic images generated by a commercial programming language, Interactive Data Language (version 5.5). The thickness of an image slice was 0.5 mm, pixel size was $0.5{\times}0.5mm$, field of view was 256 mm, and image resolution was $512{\times}512$. The images were generated under the DICOM 3.0 standard in order to be used with Leksell GammaPlan$^{(R)}$. For the verification of the rotation error correction function of Leksell GammaPlan$^{(R)}$, 45 measurement points were arranged in five axial planes. On each axial plane, there were nine measurement points along a square of length 100 mm. The center of the square was located on the z-axis and a measurement point was on the z-axis, too. Five axial planes were placed at z=-50.0, -30.0, 0.0, 30.0, 50.0 mm, respectively. The virtual phantom was rotated by $3^{\circ}$ around one of x, y, and z-axis. It was also rotated by $3^{\circ}$ around two axes of x, y, and z-axis, and rotated by $3^{\circ}$ along all three axes. The errors in the position of rotated measurement points were measured with Leksell GammaPlan$^{(R)}$ and the correction function was verified. Results: The image registration errors of the virtual phantom images was $0.1{\pm}0.1mm$ and it was within the requirement of stereotactic images. The maximum theoretical errors in position of measurement points were 2.6 mm for a rotation around one axis, 3.7 mm for a rotation around two axes, and 4.5 mm for a rotation around three axes. The measured errors in position was $0.1{\pm}0.1mm$ for a rotation around single axis, $0.2{\pm}0.2mm$ for double and triple axes. These small errors verified that the rotation error correction function of Leksell GammaPlan$^{(R)}$ is working fine. Conclusion: A virtual phantom was built to verify software functions of stereotactic neurosurgery treatment planning program. The error correction function of a commercial treatment planning program worked within nominal error range. The virtual phantom of this study can be applied in many other fields to verify various functions of treatment planning programs.

  • The eye movement of the eyeball's center of a rotation can represent with the rotation matrix $R_x$, $R_y$, $R_z$ due to a coordinate axis rotation transformation of Cartesian coordinate, and describes of an abduction, an adduction, an elevation, a depression, an intorsion, an extorsion in principle rotation six forms of the eye. The eye movement from primary eye position to tertiary eye position could be composed with the rotation matrix combination, and by the primary rotation of six and the secondary rotation of eight, could be represented with the extrocular muscle of six. The position of the cornea vertex point or pupil point due to the eye movement can describe to transform the rotation matrix of the cartesian coordinate to spherical coordinate$(r,{\theta},{\phi})$.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the rotational errors of roll, pitch, and yaw in the whole breast cancer treated by the three-dimensional radiation therapy (3D-CRT) using TomoDirect (TD). Twenty-patient previously treated with TD 3D-CRT was selected. We performed a retrospective clinical analysis based on 80 images of megavoltage computed tomography (MVCT) including the systematic and random variation with patient setup errors and treatment setup margin (mm). In addition, a rotational error (degree) for each patient was analyzed using the automatic image registration. The treatment margin of X, Y, and Z directions were 4.2 mm, 6.2 mm, and 6.4 mm, respectively. The mean value of the rotational error for roll, pitch, and yaw were $0.3^{\circ}$, $0.5^{\circ}$, $0.1^{\circ}$, and all of systematic and random error was within $1.0^{\circ}$. The errors of patient positioning with the Y and Z directions have generally been mainly higher than the X direction. The percentage in treatment fractions in less than $2^{\circ}$ at roll, pitch, and yaw are 95.1%, 98.8%, and 97.5%, respectively. However, the edge of upper and lower (i.e., bottom) based on the center of therapy region (point) will quite a possibility that it is expected to twist even longer as the length of treatment region. The patient-specific characters should be considered for the accuracy and reproducibility of treatment and it is necessary to confirm periodically the rotational errors, including patient repositioning and repeating MVCT scan.

  • Recently the diameter of the 5MW wind turbine reaches 126m, and the tower height is nearly the same with the wind turbine diameter. The blade will experience periodic inflow oscillation due to blade rotation inside the ground shear flow region, that is, the inflow velocity is maximum at uppermost position and minimum at lowermost position. In this study we compare the aerodynamic data between two inflow conditions, i.e, uniform flow and normal wind profile. From the computed results all of the relative errors for oscillating amplitudes increased due to the ground shear flow effect. Especially My at hub and $F_x$, $M_y$, $M_z$ at LSS increased enormously. It turns out that the aerodynamic analysis including the ground shear flow effect must be considered for fatigue load analysis.

  • The purpose of this study were a two-fold: (1) to analyze event and phase of handspring salto forward stretched with turn; (2) to know the differences in the kinematic variables between two groups. A Kwon3D program served for the estimation of this study. The group was divided into three National representative and three well-trained calisthenics in this study. The results of this study revealed that (1) the forward somersault performance was increased when duration time in the air was long during the salto forward stretched that the duration time of Handspring is short, the pressure at takeoff is high, the stride is large, and hands are supporting on the ground quickly; (2) comparing the angular movement of anterior and posterior y axis and vertical z axis, the angular movement of right and left $\times$ axis was higher during the performance. As a result, the national representative players showed better performance in Handspring salto forward stretched with turn.

  • A numerical study on the similarity of the developing laminar flows between in a straight duct rotating about an axis perpendicular to that of the duct and in a stationary curved duct was carried out. In order to clarify the analogy of two flows, dimensionless parameters K/sub LR/ = Re/(equation omitted) and Rossby number, Ro, in a rotating straight duct were used as a set corresponding to Dean number K/sub LC/ = Re/(equation omitted), and curvature ratio, λ, in a stationary curved duct. For the large values of Ro and λ, it is shown that the flow field satisfies the 'asymptotic invariance property', that is, there are strong quantitative similarities between the two flows such as flow patterns, friction factors, and maximum axial velocity magnitudes for the same values of K/sub LR/ and K/sub LC/ if they are correlated with dimensionless axial distances Z/sub R/ = z/(equation omitted) for a rotating duct flow and Z/sub C/ = z/(equation omitted) for a stationary curved duct flow.

  • Crystal structures and magneto-optical properties of $(Mn_{0.5-Z}Sb_{0.5+Z})_{100-y}Pt_y$ (0$(Mn_{0.5-Z}Sb_{0.5+Z})_{100-y}Ag_y$ (0$^{\circ}C$ are C1b-type with fcc and NiAs-type with hcp, respectively. The MnSbAg films have a texture which the c-axis orientation is perpendicular to the film plane by annealing at 300 $^{\circ}C$ for less than 3 hours. The perpendicular anisotropy constants of the $Mn_{47.4}Sb_{47.5}Ag_{5.1}$ film annealed at 300 $^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours are $K_1=6.6{\times}10^5 \; erg/cm^3\;and\;K_2=1.9{\times}10^5\; erg/cm^3$. The Kerr rotation angle of MnSbPt films increases but that of MnSbAg film decreases by decreasing incident wavelength within the range of 700$\leq$ λ$\leq$1000 nm. High polar Kerr angles of 1.7$^{\circ}$ (λ =700 nm) and 0.6$^{\circ}$ (λ =1000 nm), 0.2$^{\circ}$ (λ =700 nm) and 0.97$^{\circ}$ (λ =1000 nm) have been obtained from $Mn_{41.1}Sb_{44,9}Pt_{14.0}$ and $Mn_{47.4}Sb_{47.5}Ag_{5.1}$ alloy films, respectively.
