콜린 결핍이 병아리의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Choline Deficiency on Lipid Metabolism in Chicks)

  • 1주령 병아리에 무콜린 식이를 급여하거나 무콜린 식이에 butanolamine을 첨가 급여하여 콜린 결핍을 심화시켜, 콜린 결핍이 지질대사에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 그 결과 콜린 결핍은 간장중량, 혈장 지질 및 지단백 수준에 유의적인 영향을 나타내지 않았다. 또한 간세포의 소포체에서 $^{14}$ C-oleic acid의 지질 혼입율에도 유의적인 영향을 끼치지 않았다. 한편 estrogen을 투여하여 고지혈증을 야기 시킨 경우 콜린 결핍군의 VLDL상승 정도가 낮은 경향을 나타내었고 비간장 무게와 간장의 지질함량은 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 한편 콜린 결핍은 병아리의 성장을 저해하였다 성장에 필요한 콜린을 충분히 합성하지 못하는 어린 병아리에 콜린 결핍을 야기 시켜 얻어진 이러한 결과는 간세포에서의 VLDL방출에 콜린이 크게 작용하지 않음을 시사하여 주었다. 그러나 고지혈증이 유발된 상황에서 극심한 콜린 결핍은 VIDL방출에 약간의 영향을 끼칠 수도 있음을 나타내었다.

Communication of Young Black-Tailed Gulls, Larus crassirostris, in response to Parents Behavior

  • In the breeding colony of black-tailed gull, as nests of conspecific neighbors are very closely located, chicks are permanently exposed by sound and visual stimuli produced by adult conspecifics approaching their nests. The chicks, therefore, may need to learn ways to appropriately respond to their parents approach. In this study we experimentally manipulated sensory stimulation that is potentially provided by the parents to the offspring. Chicks incubated in the laboratory were exposed to a mew call of the conspecific adult. Then they were tested in three situations differing in sensory stimulation: 1) visual stimulation only, 2) auditory stimulation only, and 3) Simultaneous visual and auditory stimulations. We observed occurrence of different response of the chicks, which were categorized into three behaviors (begging call response, chirirah call and pecking behavior). We also investigated intensity of the chicks call in response to the different stimulations and the degree of response with age. The chicks exposed to only auditory stimulation made significantly more chirirah calls. The intensities (dB) of the mew call and chicks chirirah call were directly correlated. On the other hand, when chicks just saw the stuffed adult gull, they responded significantly more with a begging call and pecking behavior. In the situation of costimulation, the chicks responded with a begging call and pecking, but less frequently than visual stimulation only. The results suggest that young black-tailed gulls use call repertories to properly respond to parents behavior. Such results suggest an evolutionary process for uncreasing their survival rate in a group breeding site.

Effects of Fat Sources and Energy to Protein Ratio on Growth Performance and Carcass Composition of Chicks

  • Three hundred and twenty-four 1 day old chicks were used to determine the effects of fat source and energy to protein ratio on growth performance , carcass composition and the efficiency on nutrient utilization. Chicks were assigned. in a completely randomized design, to 3*3 factorial arrangement of treatments. Chicks received one of three fat sources (n0 fat, tallow, corn oil) and one of three energy to protein ratios(16, 14 and 12kcal ME/g CP). All diets were formulated to be isocaloric(3.2Mcal ME/kg diets) using published ME values for the diet ingredients. Addition of tat to the diet increased ADG, average daily feed intake, and gain to feed, Chicks fed diets containing fat had increased percentage body DM and ether extract(EE), but percentage CP was not different, Chicks fed diets containing fat had increased efficiency of protein and energy deposition. Addition of fat ad either fallow or corn oil yielded similar results. Reducing the energy to protein ratio of the diet did not affect ADG or gain to feed, but tended to decrease average daily feed intake(p=0.80), as well as resulting in linear(p<0.05) reductions in body percentage DM., EE and also total EE. Increasing the energy to protein ratio did not affect percentage or total body Cp. Adding fat to poultry diets improved growth performance and the efficiency of growth chicks. Decreasing the energy to protein ratio did not affect growth performance, but reduced EE in the body of Chicks.

부화 전후 영양, 부화 후 유지시간, 그리고 In Ovo Feeding (Perinatal Nutrition, Post-Hatch Holding Time and In Ovo Feeding)

  • 닭의 성장과정에서 어린 병아리의 발달에 가장 결정적인 시간으로 인식되는 시점은 부화 전 수일부터 부화 후 수일간이다. 부화 전후의 충분한 영양소 공급은 배아의 최종 발달과 병아리의 초기성장에 결정적 기여를 한다고 볼 수 있다. In ovo feeding에 의한 탄수화물 또는 아미노산의 공급은 부화 전 후의 소화장기 발달에 긍정적으로 작용한다. Prebiotics과 synbiotics 등에 대한 in ovo 주입은 건강한 미생물 균총 형성 등을 제공하여 영양적, 면역적 측면에서 좋은 결과들을 볼 수 있지만, 연구 결과의 수적 제한과 in ovo 주입의 양과 주입 부위 및 주입시기 등에 대한 추가적인 연구가 요구된다. 탄수화물을 이용한 in ovo feeding은 부화시 체중 증가를 보이지만 육계의 부화 후 능력에는 크게 영향을 보이지 않으며, 탄수화물 주입에 따른 부화율 감소는 기술적 요인(최적 농도, 주입 장소, 부피 등)이 크게 작용하는 것으로 보인다. In ovo feeding에 의한 아미노산 공급은 병아리의 세포성 면역과 체액성 면역을 높여 초기 면역 향상에 도움이 되는 것으로 판단된다. In ovo feeding은 부화 전후의 최적의 영양소 공급과 면역력 증진 및 절식에 따른 병아리의 스트레스를 완화시켜주는 실용적인 기술이 될 수 있다.

Excessive Dietary Conjugated Linoleic Acid Affects Hepatic Lipid Content and Muscular Fatty Acid Composition in Young Chicks

  • The effects of dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on lipid concentrations and fatty acid composition of various tissues were studied in young chicks. From 7 days of age, a total of 160 chicks were divided into 4 groups, placed into 4 pens per group (10 birds per pen) and fed one of four experimental diets containing 6% tallow (TO 6%), 4% tallow plus 2% CLA (TO 4%-CLA 2%), 2% tallow plus 4% CLA (TO 2%-CLA 4%) or 6% CLA (CLA 6%) for 3 weeks. There were no significant differences in growth performances and the relative weights of various organs, but relative liver weight of chicks fed dietary CLA at 4 and 6% levels was significantly higher (p<0.05) than that of TO 6% group. The chemical compositions of leg muscle were not affected by CLA feeding. However, hepatic total lipid of chicks fed 6% CLA diet was significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of TO 6% and TO 4%-CLA 2% groups. The concentrations of various lipid fractions in serum were not affected by CLA feeding. With the increase in dietary CLA levels, cis 9-trans 11 CLA, trans 10-cis 12 CLA and total CLA of leg muscle increased linearly. The relative proportions of C18:1 $\omega$ -9 and C20:4 $\omega$-6 fatty acids in the leg muscles of chicks fed the CLA containing diets were significantly lower (p<0.05) than those of TO 6% group. These results indicate that the levels of CLA isomers were increased linearly in dose-dependent manner after feeding of synthetic CLA source. But it was also observed that excessive amount of dietary CLA resulted in the possible adversely effects, such as increase of liver weight, hepatic lipid accumulation and serum GOT level.

생균제의 급여가 육계의 생산성과 장내 미생물의 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Feeding Probiotics on Performance and Intestinal Microflora of Broiler Chicks)

  • Two experiment were conducted to evaluate the feeding value of probiotics for the broiler chicks. Basal diets based on corn and soybean meal with no supplemental probiotics contained 21% dietary crude protein for the first 3 weeks and 19% for the rest of two weeks. In experiment 1, 0.2 % probiotics containing 2X 10 6 cfu /ml of Saccharomyces cerevisiae(S), Clostridium butyricum(C), Lactobacillus acidophilus(L), Bacillus polyfermenticus(B) were respectively supplemented to control groups. Two hundred day-olo chicks were randomly assigned to five treatments which had four replicates of 10 chicks each per treatment. Weight gain, feed consurnption, feed conversion ratio (FCR) were weekly measured for 5 weeks. The number of intestinal microflora was examined at the end of experiment. In experiment 1, Weight gain and feed intake of chicks fed probiotics exhibited a significant response compared to those of control for the first three weeks(P<0.01). Weight gain of S or C treatments was higher than that of control for the rest of two weeks, whereas it was significantly lower in L and B treatments than S or C treatments (P<0.01). Chicks fed S or C was significantly increased weight gain(P <0.05) compared to that of control at five weeks of age. FCR of C treatment seemed to improve relative to other supplemental probiotics groups, but was not significantly different. The number of intestinal anaerobes and Lactobacillus in large intestine of chicks fed probiotics supplements was significantly decreased compared to control groups(P<0.01). In experiment 2, there were six treatments: Ti, control; T2, 0.2%S; T3, 0.2%S + 0.2%C; T4, 0.2%S + 0.2%L; T5, 0.2%S + 0.2%B; T6, 0.2%S + 0.1%C + o.i%L + 0.1%B. Control diet based on corn soybean meal contained 21% CP and 3,2OOca1 /g ME with no probiotics. There were four replicates of 10 chicks each per treatment. Weight gain of chicks fed probiotics tended to increase compared to control groups, but were not significantly different between them. FCR was also improved in probiotics treatments. However, there were no significant differences between probiotics supplementation and control groups. The results of these experiments indicated that dietary supplemental probiotics improved weight gain, feed efficiency for the first three weeks of young broiler chicks, whereas supplementation of C, L, B combined probiotics to young broiler chicks was not superior to those of single or two probiotics.

서로 다른 인 공급원들의 생물학적 이용율과 어린 육계의 능력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Supplemental Phosphate from Different Sources on Performance of Young Broiler Chicks and It's Biological Availability)

  • An experiment was conducted with male broiler chicks to determine the effect of different dietary phosphorus sources and evaluate the biological availability of phosphorus sources. The biological availability of phosphorus from dicalcium phosphate (DCP) was used as a reference standard (100%) compared to defluorinate phosphate (DFP). DCP and DFP was supplemented to a corn-soy basal diet at levels of 0.05, 0.15, 0.25, 0.35%. Each of 24 pens of 10 male broiler chicks with three replications was used for three weeks. The results indicated that weight gain, feed in-take, feed efficiency, nonphytic phosphorus (NPP) and tibia ash were significantly different among treatments. Dietary supplemental phosphorus of DFP improved weight gain, NPP intake and feed efficiency consistently, whereas supplements of DCP did not show consistent increase. Regression equations was used for the availability of DPP compared with DCP when percent bone ash was a function of total phosphorus in the diet. The percent (%) bone ash of DFP groups compared to that of DCP groups showed a value of 59.98% as a slope ratio. DFP indicated lower biological availability compared to DCP, but it's dietary supplementation tended to increase bone ash and maximize the growth of young broiler chicks.

유추의 산소소비량 촉진에 관한 Tri-iodothyronine과 Thyroxine의 생물학적 효력 (Relative Biopotency of Tri-iodothyronine and Thyroxine for Inducing Oxygen Consumption in Young Chicks)

  • 유추의 산소소비에 기인하는 $T_3$$T_4$의 생물학적 효력을 비교하는 일연의 실험을 실시했다. 3마리씩 5구로 나누어 와 $T_3$$T_4$를 체중 1kg당 500혹은 1,000mg씩을, 대조구에는 동양의 생리 식염수만을 각각 투여한 뒤, 호흡 시험장치를 이용한 산소소비량을 측정하였다. 산소소비량은 2시간 후의 $T_4$-500mg구를 제외하고는 대조구에 비해 갑상선 호르몬 처리구가 통계적으로 유의하게 증가했다. 이 실험의 결과로 얻어진 등식으로부터, $T_3$$T_4$에 비해 산소소비량의 증가에 대한 생물학적 활성이 2~3배 정도임을 알 수 있다.

어린 병아리에서 isoflavones 급여가 골격의 회분 함량 및 물리적 성질에 미치는 영향

  • Considerable beneficial effects on osteoporosis from soy intake in postmenopausal women are being reported (Murkies et al.1998, Arjmandi et al. 1996). Isoflavones(IF), one of phytoestrogenic substances in the soybean, have been suggested for the effect. Our preliminary study showed that even the young chicks fed IF-rich diet tended to have higher bone ash content than those fed IF-poor diet. IF have been reported to decrease bone ash content than those fed IF-poor diet, IF have been reported to decrease bone loss by reducing bone resorption. Soybean meal has been one of the most important protein sources in poultry diets. We assume that the IF intake through dietary soybean meal could give meaningful influences on the birds. This study was carried out to determine effects of dietary IF from soybean sources on bone development in young chicks. Soy protein concentrate (SPC, IF-poor)and an IF concentrate(Phyto-Nutramin) were formulated together with purified-type ingredients to provide three different levels(25, 240 and 480 mg/kg) of total IF. Control diet(240 mg/kg) was prepared with isolated soyprotein(ISP, IF-rich). The diets were fed to 96, 3-day old, layer-type, male chicks, divided into 4 treatments with 3 replications for 3 weeks. Chicks fed the ISP diet had better gain/feed ratios than fed the SPC diets. Birds fed the diets with higher levels of IF tended to show higher values in serum total and ionized Ca% and tibial bone density, length % ash, stiffness and strain. This trend however, appeared less significant at the end of third week. No noticeable differences in sizes of comb and testicle and serum alkaline phosphatase activities were observed among the dietary groups. These results suggest that dietary isoflavones from soybean sources could be associated with chemical composition and physical properties of bone in sizes of comb and testicle and serum alkaline phosphatase activities were observed among the dietary groups. These results suggest that dietary isoflavones from soybean sources could be associated with chemical composition and physical properties of bone in young chicks.
