  • This study compares and analyzes the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) and Terra MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) as coniferous, deciduous and mixed forest with Yongdam Dam upstream (904.4 km2). The hydrologic evaluation period was set to 10 years from 2010 to 2019, and the applicability of the 8-day MOD15A2 Leaf Area Index (LAI) data, 3 TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) (GB, JC, CC), and 1 Flux Tower (DU) evaporation volume (YDD) data was simulated. As a result, the R2 of coniferous forest, deciduous forest and mixed forest are 0.95, 0.89, 0.90, soil moisture and evaportranspiration stations R2 were analyzed at 0.50 to 0.55 and 0.51, respectively, with R2 at 0.74, RMSE 2.75 mm/day, NSE 0.70 and PBIAS 14.3% for Yongdam inflow. Based on the calibrated and validated watersheds, the annual average evaportranspiration was calculated as coniferous 469.7 mm, deciduous 501. mm and 511.5 mm mixed forest, total runoff were estimated at coniferous 909.8 mm, deciduous 860.6 mm and 864.2 mm mixed forest. In the case of annual average evaportranspiration, it was evaluated that deciduous were high, but in the case of streamflow, it was evaluated that coniferous were high. Unlike other hydrologic with similar patterns throughout the year, the average annual evapotranspiration was about 7% higher than coniferous due to the higher evapotranspiration of deciduous with high leaf area index in summer and fall. In addition, deciduous were 9% and 6% higher for surface runoff and lateral flow, but the groundwater of coniferous was 77% higher. Therefore, it was confirmed that the total runoff was in order of coniferous, mixed forest, and deciduous.

  • A dam is effective in stable supply of water required in daily life and reduced damage from floods, but there are problems as a lot of land or houses are submerged. Therefore many projects have been conducted in order to improve and support daily life environment surrounding a dam. This study has focused on analyzing how to calculate support working expenses for Dam area by using GIS spatial overlay in addition to effects of scale of a topographic map and reached the following conclusion. First, as a result of areal error in submerged area by scale based on a 1/3,000 digital topographic map, it has been found that a 1/5,000 digital topographic map is 9.5 times more accurate than a 1/25,000 digital topographic map in the total of areal error. Second, as a result of areal error in area surrounding a dam, it has been found that a 1/5,000 digital topographic map is 7.4 times more accurate than a 1/25,000 digital topographic map in the total of areal error. Third, as a result of error of support expense for submerged area, it has been found that a 1/5,000 digital topographic is 15.9 times, 14.7 times and 15.9 times more effective than a 1/25,000 digital topographic map in terms of the total error of support expense, standard error and the total support expense error on the entire project costs in submerged area. In addition, as a result of analysis on error of support expense for area surrounding a dam, it has been found that a 1/5,000 digital topographic map was 10.7 times, 9.6 times and 10.6 times more effective, respectively, in the total error of support expense, standard error and the total error of support expense for the entire project costs in area surrounding a dam compared to a 1/25,000 digital topographic map. Lastly, as a result of error of the entire project costs for area surrounding a dam, it has been found that a 1/5,000 digital topographic map was 1.4 times, 1.3 times and 1.4 times more effective, respectively, in the total error of support expense, standard error and the total error of the entire project costs compared to a 1/25,000 digital topographic map, but it was not much different from the result of calculating areal error in submerged area or area surrounding a dam because population item didn't consider areal concept.

  • Sometimes, there exist many alternatives for doing a SOC project. However, the limitation of the fund requires the determination of investment priority for the alternatives. This may be performed according to the degree of importance of individual alternatives. Especially, the river improvement project at the downstream of dams has complex and various values and this characteristics make it difficult decision-maker to do reasonable determination. This study aims to determine an investment priority of 33 alternatives in the river improvement project at the downstream of dams using PROMETHEE method which has advantages in determining the priority. In this study, we determined evaluation criteria and attributes by considering the functions and objectives of the river improvement project at the downstream of dams. The eigenvector method in AHP was used to estimate the relative importance of evaluation criterion. Based on the estimation, we determined investment priority of 33 alternatives by PROMETHEE method and the priority of alternatives was derived in the order of Juam regulation dam, Unmun dam, Yongdam dam and so on. The results of this study could provide a reasonable standard to the decision-maker for the determination of investment priority of alternatives.

  • Recently, the rapid development of GIS technology has made it possible to handle a various data associated with spatially hydrological parameters with their attribute information. Therefore, there has been a shift in focus from lumped runoff models to distributed runoff models, as the latter can consider temporal and spatial variations of discharge. This research is to evaluate the feasibility of GIS based distributed model using radar rainfall which can express temporal and spatial distribution in actual dam watershed during flood runoff period. K-DRUM (K-water hydrologic & hydaulic Distributed flood RUnoff Model) which was developed to calculate flood discharge connected to radar rainfall based on long-term runoff model developed by Kyoto- University DPRI (Disaster Prevention Research Institute), and Yondam-Dam watershed ($930km^2$) was applied as study site. Distributed rainfall according to grid resolution was generated by using preprocess program of radar rainfall, from JIN radar. Also, GIS hydrological parameters were extracted from basic GIS data such as DEM, land cover and soil map, and used as input data of distributed model (K-DRUM). Results of this research can provide a base for building of real-time short-term rainfall runoff forecast system according to flash flood in near future.

  • This study aims to apply and evaluate the automatic DAD analysis method, which is able to establish the depth-area relationship more efficiently and accurately for point-to-areal rainfall conversion. First, the proposed automatic DAD analysis method tracks the expansion route of area from the storm center, and it is divided into Box-tracking, Point-tracking, Advanced point-tracking according to tracking method. After applying the proposed methods to 10 events occurred in Yongdam-watershed area, we confirmed that the Advanced point-tracking method makes it possible to estimate the maximum average areal rainfal(MAAR) more accurately with consideration of the storm movement and the multi-centered storm. In addition, Advanced point-tracking could reduce the errors of the estimated MAAR induced by increasing the area because it can estimate MAAR for each storm center and compare them at the same time. Finally, the DAD curve for the study area could be derived based on the DAD analysis of the selected 10 events.

  • The main purpose of this study is to suggest and evaluate an operational method for assessing the potential impact of climate change on hydrologic components and water resources of regional scale river basins. The method, which uses large scale climate change information provided by a state of the art general circulation model(GCM) comprises a statistical downscaling approach and a spatially distributed hydrological model applied to a river basin located in Korea. First, we construct global climate change scenarios using the YONU GCM control run and transient experiments, then transform the YONU GCM grid-box predictions with coarse resolution of climate change into the site-specific values by statistical downscaling techniques. The values are used to modify the parameters of the stochastic weather generator model for the simulation of the site-specific daily weather time series. The weather series fed into a semi-distributed hydrological model called SLURP to simulate the streamflows associated with other water resources for the condition of $2CO_2$. This approach is applied to the Yongdam dam basin in southern part of Korea. The results show that under the condition of $2CO_2$, about $7.6\% of annual mean streamflow is reduced when it is compared with the observed one. And while Seasonal streamflows in the winter and autumn are increased, a streamflow in the summer is decreased. However, the seasonality of the simulated series is similar to the observed pattern and the analysis of the duration cure shows the mean of averaged low flow is increased while the averaged wet and normal flow are decreased for the climate change.

마지막으로 용담댐 운영은 범용 시스템분석 도구인 STELLA(System Thinking Experimental Learning Laboratory with Animation) 상에서 GUI로 구현하여 유입량 변화에 따른 용담댐 치수안전도 변화를 모의해 보았다.

  • In this study, a comprehensive field monitoring was conducted to understand habitat conditions of fish species in the upper Geum river. Based on the monitoring data, riverine health conditions such as composition ratio of fish species, richness and dominance indexes, bio-diversity (dominance index, diversity, evenness and richness), and index of biological integrity were assessed, and optimal ecological flowrates were estimated using the habitat suitability indexes established for three fish species Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Zacco platypus and Pseudopungtungia nigra selected as icon species using the physical habitat simulation system (PHABSIM). The total number of species sampled was 20 species, and two sensitive species of C. splendidus (22.4%) and Z. platypus (22.0%) dominated the fish community. The estimated IBI values ranged from 34 to 42 with average being 38 out of 50, rendering the site ecologically fair to good health conditions. An optimal ecological flowrate of 9.0 cms was recommended for the representative fish species at the site.
