Second-order rate constants (kN) have been determined spectrophotometrically for reactions of 2,4-dintrophenyl 2-furoate (2) with a series of alicyclic secondary amines in 80 mol % H2O/20 mol % dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at 25.0 oC. The furoate 2 is more reactive than 2,4-dintrophenyl benzoate (1) toward all the amines studied. The higher acidity of 2-furoic acid (pKa = 3.16) compared with benzoic acid (pKa = 4.20) has been suggested to be responsible for the reactivity order, at least in part. The Brønsted-type plots for the reactions of 1 and 2 are curved downwardly, indicating that the aminolyses of both 1 and 2 proceed through a zwitterionic tetrahedral intermediate (T±) with a change in the rate-determining step on changing the amine basicity. Dissection of the kN values into their microscopic rate constants has revealed that the pKao and k2/k-1 ratios for the reactions of 1 and 2 are identical, indicating that the nature of the nonleaving group (i.e., benzoyl and 2-furoyl) does not affect the reaction mechanism. The k1 values have been found to be larger for the reactions of 2 than for those of 1, which is fully responsible for the fact that the former is more reactive than the latter.

Let $n{\geq}2$ be an even integer. We investigate that if an odd mapping f : X ${\rightarrow}$ Y satisfies the following equation $2_{n-2}C_{\frac{n}{2}-1}rf\(\sum\limits^n_{j=1}{\frac{x_j}{r}}\)\;+\;{\sum\limits_{i_k{\in}\{0,1\} \atop {{\sum}^n_{k=1}\;i_k={\frac{n}{2}}}}\;rf\(\sum\limits^n_{i=1}(-1)^{i_k}{\frac{x_i}{r}}\)=2_{n-2}C_{{\frac{n}{2}}-1}\sum\limits^n_{i=1}f(x_i),$ then f : X ${\rightarrow}$ Y is additive, where $r{\in}R$. We also prove the stability in normed group by using shadowing property and the Hyers-Ulam stability of the functional equation in Banach spaces and in Banach modules over unital C-algebras. As an application, we show that every almost linear bijection h : A ${\rightarrow}$ B of unital $C^*$-algebras A and B is a $C^*$-algebra isomorphism when $h(\frac{2^s}{r^s}uy)=h(\frac{2^s}{r^s}u)h(y)$ for all unitaries u ${\in}$ A, all y ${\in}$ A, and s = 0, 1, 2,....

Effects of hydrogen peroxide $(H_2O_2)-induced$ neurotoxicity were investigated in cultured newborn rat spinal dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons after DRG neurons were treated in the media containning various concentrations of $H_2O_2$. In addition, the protective effect of Herba Epimedii (HE) extract against $H_2O_2-induced$ neurotoxicity was examined. Cytotoxic values were determined by the cell viability of living cells using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. In the present study, exposure of neurons to $H_2O_2$ resulted in a significant cell death in a dose- and time-dependent manners in cultured DRG neurons. The decrement of cell viability by $H_2O_2$ was blocked by HE. These results suggest that the neuroprotective effect of HE against $H_2O_2-induced$ cytotoxicity may result from the prevention of injury induced by $H_2O_2$.

Calcium Silicate의 생성 및 분해에 미치는 $K_2SO_4$와 $MgSO_4$의 영향을 비교 검토하였으며 Calcium Silicate의 생성을 최대로 하는 $SO_3$, MgO와 $K_2O$의 최적비를 반응표면분석기법으로 조사하였다. $K_2SO_4$의 혼합비 증감에 따라 $C_3S$의 생성촉진에 미치는 영향은 없었다. $C_3S$의 조합원료에 $CaSO_4$를 4.0wt$\%$이상 첨가시 $CaSO_4$는 $C_2S$주위에 Sulphate reaction rim을 형성함으로써 $C_2S$와 CaO의 반응을 방해해 $C_3S$의 생성을 억제하였으나 적당량의 MgO가 첨가되면 $CaSO_4$가 4.0wt$/%$이상이라도 $C_3S$의 생성은 억제되지 않았다. $C_3S$의 생성을 최대로 하기 위한 $SO_3$, MgO와 $K_2O$의 최적비를 반응표면분석기법을 이용하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. $K_2SO_4$는 $K_2O$에 비해 소결에 미치는 영향이 적으므로 크링카에 고용되고 남은 $K_2O$는 전량 $K_2SO_4$로 전환시켜야한다. 2. $SO_3$와 $K_2O$의 최적비율은 1.5이다. 3. $CaSO_4$와 MgO의 최적비율을 유지하기 위해서는 $CaSO_4$중의 wt$\%SO_3$=0.7의 수준으로 Sulphate의 함량을 조절하여야 한다. 4. $SO_3$와 결합하고 남은 $K_2O$가 0wt$\%$인 경우는 $K_2SO_4$=2.3wt$\%$, MgO=1.5wt$\%$일때 $C_3S$의 생성이 최대로 된다. 5. $SO_3$와 결합하고 남은 $K_2O$가 2.0wt$\%$인 경우는 $K_2$$SO_4$=4.5wt$\%$, MgO=3.0wt$\%$일때 $C_3S$의 생성이 최대로 된다.

The aim of this paper is to study the determinants of such matrices related to certain sequence ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ and some natural numbers k.

연탄이 연소할 때 배기기체에 포함된 일산화탄소의 mole백분율(CO%)은 그 초기에 있어서 대략 다음 식으로 표시된다. (CO%)=$\frac{2{\alpha}}{1+{\alpha}}(CO_2%)$ exp $[-\vec{k}(No_2-Nc)^{1/2}{\tau}]$위식에서 ${\alpha}=\frac{-0.395K_p+\sqrt{0.156K^2_p+(0.83+0.21K_p)K_p}}{0.83+0.21K_p}$그리고 $logK_p =-\frac{8593}{T} + 2.45logT -1.08{\times}10^{-3}T + 1.12{\times}10^{-7}T^2+2.77\vec{k},\;No_2$ 및 $N_c$는 $CO+\frac{1}{2}O_2{\to}CO_2$의 반응속도상수, 그리고 1mole의 배기기체에 포함된 산소 및 탄소의 산화물의 mole수이다. 본 실험에서는 연소된 전 탄소의 값에 대해서 일산화탄소를 전환된 백분율 및 연소로 속에 들어가는 공기의 유량속은 다음과 같았다. 1.76%와 0.53l/sec (뚜껑이 있을 때) 및 12.35%와 2.4l/sec (뚜껑이 없을 때)

Bi$_2Sr_2CaCu_2O$(Bi-2212) thick films were fabricated on Y2l1 substrate by screen printing method. And the samples were annealed in various atmospheres, respectively. Though samples had many voids, the sample annealed in N$_2$ ; O$_2$ = 1:0 atmosphere and the sample in N$_2$ : O$_2$ = 0:1 showed some Bi 2212 low phase in comparison to other samples. The thickness of Bi-2212 on Y2ll substrates was about 20 ${\mu}$m.

An experimental study on firing noise of K2 rifle was performed. Firing noises of K2 rifle were measured at close distance to rifle. Firing noise of K2 rifle which made in Korea, has not measured before. The measurement of firing noise at close distance is not simple, because the amplitude of firing noise is much bigger than the measuring limit of ordinary sound level meter even though it uses a signal attenuator. The measurement of firing noise at close distance is necessary for noise source positioning and for obtaining the sound power of K2 rifle. By this experimental study, the firing noise levels of K2 rifle at different positions are obtained and these data can be used to Predict the sound pressure level at any distance from muzzle of the rifle. Also these data can be used to calculate the threshold shift of gunner's ear.

The unique positive zero of $F_m(z):=z^{2m}-z^{m+1}-z^{m-1}-1$ leads to analogues of $2(\array{2n\\k}\)$(k even) by using hypergeometric functions. The minimal polynomials of these analogues are related to Chebyshev polynomials, and the minimal polynomial of an analogue of $2(\array{2n\\k}\)$(k even>2) can be computed by using an analogue of $2(\array{2n\\k}\)$. In this paper we show that the analogue of $2(\array{2n\\2}\)$. In this paper we show that the analygue $2(\array{2n\\2}\)$ is the only real zero of its minimal polynomial, and has a different representation, by using a polynomial of smaller degree than $F_m$(z).

Two series of 2,3-diarylcyclopent-2-ene-1-ones including 2-aryl-3-(2,5-dihydroxyphenyl)cyclopent-2-ene-1-ones (2a∼2f) and 3-aryl-2-(3',4',5'-trimethoxyphenyl)cyclopent-2-ene-1-one (3a∼3j) were synthesized and evaluated for the cytotoxicity against three tumor cell lines; B16F10, HCT116 and A431. It was found that the 3,4,5-trimethoxy substituent was optimal for the bioactivity of compounds in series 2. Meanwhile, compounds in series 3 exhibited the most potent cytotoxicity with 3-aryl ring being 4-methoxyphenyl (compound 3f), (3-hydroxy-4-methoxy)phenyl (compound 3e), or (3-amino-4-methoxy)phenyl (compound 3j).
