A series of spherical porous carbons were prepared via resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) sol-gel polymerization in the presence of cationic surfactant (CTAB, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), wherein the carbon sphere size was controlled by varying the CTAB introduction time after a pre-determined period of addition reaction (termed as "pre-curing"). The sphere size gradually decreases with an increase in the pre-curing time within the range of 30-150 nm. The carbons possess two types of pores; one inside carbon spheres (intra-particle pores) and the other at the interstitial sites made by carbon spheres (inter-particle pores). Of the two, the surface exposed on the former was dominant to determine the electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) performance of porous carbons. As the intra-particle pores were generated inside RF gel spheres by gasification, the pore diameter was similar for all these carbons, thereby the pore length turned out to be a decisive factor controlling the EDLC performance. The charge-discharge voltage profiles and complex capacitance analysis consistently illustrate that the smaller-sized RF carbons deliver a better rate capability, which must be the direct result of facilitated ion penetration into shorter pores.

We have fabricated (Ba,Sr)TiO3$TiO_3$ thick films doped with various amount of ZnBO dopants (1, 3, and 5 wt%) by screen printing method on the alumina substrates, which were sintered at the temperature below $1200^{\circ}C$. With increasing the amount of ZnBO dopants, the relative dielectric permittivity of ZnBO doped (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ was decreased, while loss tangent was increased. 1 wt% ZnBO doped (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ thick film has relative dielectric permittivity of 759 at 1 MHz, while 3 and 5 wt% of ZnBO doped (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ thick films have 624 and 554, respectively. By introducing ZnBO dopants to the (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ thick films, leakage current densities were decreased. The decreased leakage current with increasing ZnBO dopants can be explained by increased density and grain size of thick film on alumina substrate. We believe this decreased leakage current density probably come from the increased grain size and increased density.
In this paper, the on line volt/var control algorithms of the food Load Tap Changer (LTC) transformer and Shunt Capacitor(SC) are proposed for distribution volt/var regulation. In the existing volt/var control of the distribution substation, the voltage of feeders and var of distribution systems is mainly controlled by the LTC transformer tap position and on/off status of the shunt capacitor. The LTC and shunt capacitor bank has discrete operation characteristics and therefore it is very difficult to control volt/var at the distribution networks within the satisfactory levels. Also there is limitation of the operation times of the LTC and shunt capacitor bank because it is affects on their functional lifetime. The proposed volt/var control algorithm determine an optimal tap position of LTC and on/off status of shunt capacitors at a distribution network with the multiple feeders. The mathematical equations of the proposed method are introduced. Simple case study was performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

We manufactured Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) and (1-x)$BaTiO_3-xSrTiO_3$(BST) ceramic composites and investigated dielectric properties to use as embedded capacitor in printed circuit boards and replace LTCC substrates. The dielectric properties of these composites are varied with volume fraction of BST and ratios of BT/ST. Dielectric constants are in the range of 3~28. In addition, we could get low TCC and High Q value that could not achieve in other ceramic-polymer composites. Especially, in composite with x=0.4 and 50vol% BST, the dieletric constant and Q-value are 27 and 300, respectively. And more TCC is -116~145ppm/$^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of -55~$125^{\circ}C$. We think that this composites can be used high-Q substrate material like LTCC and embedded temperature compensation capacitor in printed circuit boards.

Aerosol Deposition(AD) method is based on the impact consolidation phenomenon of ceramic fine particles at room temperature. AD is promising technology for the room temperature deposition of the dielectrics thin films with high quality. Embedding of passive components such as capacitors into printed circuit board is becoming an important strategy for electronics miniaturization and device reliability, manufacturing cost reduction. So, passive integration using aerosol deposition. In this study, we examine the effects of the characteristics of raw powder on the thickness, roughness, electrical properties of $BaTiO_3$ thin films. Thin films were deposited on the copper foil and copper plate. Electrical and material properties was investigated as a change of annealing temperature. We final aim the effects of before and after of laminated on the electrical properties and suit of embedded capacitor.

Ultra-thin $SiO_2/ZrO_2$ dielectrics were deposited by atomic layer chemical vapor deposition (ALCVD) method for non-volatile memory application. Metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors were fabricated by stacking ultra-thin $SiO_2$ and $ZrO_2$ dielectrics. It is found that the tunneling current through the stacked dielectric at the high voltage is lager than that through the conventional silicon oxide barrier. On the other hand, the tunneling leakage current at low voltages is suppressed. Therefore, the use of ultra-thin $SiO_2/ZrO_2$ dielectrics as a tunneling barrier is promising for the future high integrated non-volatile memory.

This paper presents the DC voltage control method in DC link of High Voltage Direct Current(HVDC) for an offshore wind farm in Low Voltage Ride Through(LVRT) situation. Wind generators in an offshore wind farm are connected to onshore network via HVDC transmission. Due to LVRT control of grid side inverter in HVDC, power imbalancing in DC link is generated and this consequentially causes rising of DC voltage. A de-loading scheme is one of the method to protect the wind power system DC link capacitors from over voltage. But the flaw of this method is slow control response time and that it needs long recovery time to pre-fault condition after fault clear. Thus, this paper proposes improved de-loading method and we analyze control performance for DC voltage in LVRT control of HVDC for an offshore wind farm.

The value of this paper is to use reduced size apparatuses to perform field measurement in order to identify and validate that the harmonic-current effects are due to the presence of self-excitation capacitance connected at stator's terminals of the studied SEIG. This paper has presented the measured electrical quantities of a three-phase $\Delta$-connected wind induction generator (WIG) under sudden connection and disconnection of resistive loads. An intelligent power-system recorder/monitor has been employed to measure three-phase voltages and currents of the studied system at the terminals of the studied WIG and the load. The measured electrical quantities have been analyzed. Total harmonic distortion (THD) of current using cumulative probability density function has been employed to determine the penetration of harmonic distortion at load side. The results show that the harmonic currents generated by the studied WIG can be severely amplified by the connected self-excited capacitance at the stator's terminals.
The high-switching-frequency operation of power converters can achieve high power density through size reduction of passive components, such as capacitors, inductors, and transformers. However, a small-output capacitor that has small capacitance and low effective series resistance changes the small-signal model of the converter power stage. Such a capacitor can make the converter unstable by increasing the crossover frequency in the transfer function of the small-signal model. In this paper, the design and implementation of a high-frequency LLC resonant converter are presented to verify the power density enhancement achieved by decreasing the size of passive components. The effect of small output capacitance is analyzed for stability by using a proper small-signal model of the LLC resonant converter. Finally, proper design methods of a feedback compensator are proposed to obtain a sufficient phase margin in the Bode plot of the loop gain of the converter for stable operation at 500 kHz switching frequency. A theoretical approach using MATLAB, a simulation approach using PSIM, and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed analysis and design methods with 100 and 500 kHz prototype converters.

This paper proposed a high-power density bidirectional converter for hybrid electric vehicle high-voltage DC-DC converter(HDC). The conventional HDC has two disadvantages. First, large inductance is required to satisfy the ripple current of inductor by low switching frequency (<20 kHz). Second, large core size is required to prevent the saturation of inductor by high current. Compared with the conventional HDC, the proposed HDC can reduce inductance with SiC-FET for high frequency driving. High-power density of I/O capacitors can be achieved through two-phase interleaved method. The high-power density of inductors can be achieved because the offset current of magnetizing inductance is theoretically terminated by using the differential mode coupled inductor instead of using two single inductors. The validity of the proposed converter is proved through the 50 kW prototype.
