Transform Methods for PAM Signals as Asymmetric Distribution and Performance Comparison of Bicepstrum Blind Equalizer using Asymmetric Distribution (PAM 신호의 비대칭 분포를 형성하기 위한 방법과 이를 이용한 3차 통계 자력 등화기의 성능 비교)

  • We propose a 3rd order blind equalizer that incorporates a new transform method using either square root operation ($\sqrt{x]$) or reciprocal operation (1/x) in order to transform symmetric distribution of PAM signals at the transmitter, to asymmetric one. At the receiver, either the square operation or the reciprocal operation is needed to recover the asymmetrically transformed signals to the original ones after eualization. The reslts of the computer simulation, using the new method are better than the existing transform method using natural logarithm operation by the maximum of 8 dB in MSE. In addition, as the skewness of the asymmetrically transformed distribution has small values, the performances are improved.

Radiographic Study of the Alveolar Bone Changes with Aging (증령에 따른 치고졸의 변화에 관한 방사선학적 연구(I))

  • The author measured the degree of alveolar bone resorption around mandibular central incisors in Korean female(254). Mandibulr central incisors were selected from the females who do not have periodontal disease or malocclusion. The selected radiograms were enlarged in the $5"\times7"$ printing papers for the precise measuring. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The average alveolar bone resorption around mandibular central incisors in Korean women were 1.91mm in 3rd decade, 2, 16mm in 4th decade, 2.51mm in 5th deacade, 2.70mm in 6th decade, 2.94mm in older age group. 2. Alveolar bone resorption and age were in positive correlation; there is a tendency that the alveolar bone resorption increase with aging. 3. The regression equation is as follows. Optimized Channel Coding of Control Channels for Mobile Packet Communication

  • This paper proposes a coding scheme of control channel for mobile packet communication to maximize the minimum Hamming distance, which is based on shifting of basis vectors of Reed Muller code with optimized dynamic puncturing and/or(partial) sequence repetition. Since the maximum likelihood decoding can be performed using the extremely simple FHT(Fast Hadamard Transformation), it is suitable for real time optimum decoding of control channel information with very little complexity. We show applications of the proposed coding method to TFCI(Transport Format Combination Indicator) code in split and normal modes of 3GPP W-CDMA system. We also discuss how this method can reduce rate indication error over AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) as well as fading channels when the proposed coding scheme is applied to 1xEV-DV system of $3^{rd}$TEX> generation partnership project 2(3GPP2) to indicate the data rate transmitted on the reverse traffic channel by a Mobile Station(MS).

  • By using the Riccati transformation technique, we study the oscillation and asymptotic behavior for the third-order nonlinear delay dynamic equations $(c(t)(p(t)x^{\Delta}(t))^{\Delta})^{\Delta}+q(t)f(x({\tau}(t)))=0$ on a time scale T, where c(t), p(t) and q(t) are real-valued positive rd-continuous functions defined on $\mathbb{T}$. We establish some new sufficient conditions which ensure that every solution oscillates or converges to zero. Our oscillation results are essentially new. Some examples are considered to illustrate the main results.

  • Now, the goal of the third generation KTX project is to create a new species of high speed train in order to open a new era of high speed railway system in history by authentic Korean technology and innovative design. Now the third generation KTX, must go beyond the original stagnant paradigm and be positioned as an emotional resource which is creating a shift in the public's perspective of transportation and expanding the idea that transportation intersects the two distinct realms of culture and environment as well. In addition, the overall design should reflect the Korean culture and characteristics, simple yet resonant, both the interior space and the exterior fuselage should portray the dynamic heritage of Korea such as the powerful yet subdued energy of Jung Joong Dong. In short, through the symbolic key words in Korean, Dong(Dynamics), Mek(Pulse), Ryu(Flow), Gam(Sensibility), the third generation KTX design project aims to create an new identity of Korean high speed railway which can stand globally.

"DUMBBELL" Neurilemmoma -1 case Report- (DUMBBELL 신경종양 -1례 보고-)

  • A 22 year old soldier was discovered on routine study for discharge to have a mass in the posterior mediastinum He was admitted due to high fever and improved by antibiotic treatment for 2 weeks. Chest PA, apicogram, myelogram and CT scan demonstrated enlargement of the neural foramen at the T1 level with erosion of the posterior aspect of the vertebral body and the pedicle contiguous with the intrathoracic mass, A myelogram showed a large extradural defect at the T1 level on the left. There were no clinical signs of cord compression. A standard posterolateral thoracotomy incision was made with extension to high thoracic vertebra. The 3rd rib was resected and the angles of the posterior portion of 1st and 2nd ribs were cut and rib heads were removed. Extrapleural neurilemmoma 6x6 cm was resected intrathoracically. And after removal of the pedicle and the lamina, intraspinal extradural mass 3 X 2 cm was resected carefully with trivial tearing of the dura which was sealed with gel-foam and pleura. There was ma postoperative neurological complication.

HOT GAS HALOS IN EARLY-TYPE GALAXIES AND ENVIRONMENTS

  • We investigate the dependence of the extended X-ray emission from the halos of optically luminous early-type galaxies on the small-scale (the nearest neighbor distance) and large-scale (the average density inside the 20 nearest galaxies) environments. We cross-match the 3rd Data Release of the Second XMMNewton Serendipitous Source Catalog (2XMMi-DR3) to a volume-limited sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7 with $M_r$ < -19.5 and 0.020 < z < 0.085, and find 20 early-type galaxies that have extended X-ray detections. The X-ray luminosity of the galaxies is found to have a tighter correlation with the optical and near infrared luminosities when the galaxy is situated in the low large-scale density region than in the high large-scale density region. Furthermore, the X-ray to optical (r-band) luminosity ratio, $L_X/L_r$, shows a clear correlation with the distance to the nearest neighbor and with large-scale density environment only where the galaxies in pair interact hydrodynamically with seperations of $r_p$ < $r_{vir}$. These findings indicate that the galaxies in the high local density region have other mechanisms that are responsible for their halo X-ray luminosities than the current presence of a close encounter, or alternatively, in the high local density region the cooling time of the heated gas halo is longer than the typical time between the subsequent encounters.

Strucural, Thermal, Electrical Characteristics of Epoxy-Nanocomposites according to Dispersion Agent Treatment (분산제 처리에 따른 에폭시-나노콤포지트의 구조적, 열적, 전기적 특성)

  • 에폭시수지에 층상실리케이트 나노입자를 충진함량별로 충진시킨 나노콤포지트를 제조하여 충진함량의 변화와 분산제 첨가를 통하여 분산제효과를 조사하였다, 충진함량의 변화는 1, 3, 5, 7, 9wt%과 분산제 변화를 05, 1.5, 2.5wt%로 구조적, 열적, 전기적 특성을 조사하였다. 분산처리는 초음파 기법을 적용하여 분산하였다. 구조적 특성으로 X-RD조사한 결과 0.5wt%분산제처리를 한 경우 완전한 박리를 가져오지 못하였고, 부분적인 박리를 가져왔다. 이는 분산제 처리량이 나노입자 표면정체를 제어할수 없기 때문으로 사료된다. 분산제 1.5wt%를 첨가한경우로 충진함량별 X-RD특성은 1wt%는 완전한 박리를 나타내었고 함량의 증가에 따라 박리정도가 약간 낮아지는 경우를 알 수 있다. 이런 경우 전기적특성중 단시간 절연파괴특성에서 나타내고 있다. 충진함량이 낮을수록 스케일파라미터의 값이 높고, 함량이 증가할수록 낮아지는 경우이다. 이는 분산정도에따라 절연파괴강도에 영향을 주고 있음을 알 수 있다. 열적특성에서 유리천이온도는 1,3,5wt%에서는 증가하는 결과를 더욱 충진함량이 증가하면 오히려 감소되는 특성을 나타내고 있다. 결국은 분산정도에따라 전기적 특성 및 열적특성이 크게 변화되는 특성을 나타내었다.

  • In order to fabricate the piezoelectric thin film of the PZT-PNN ternary compound, the metal alkoxides were used as starting materials. The electrical and crystalline properties of the thin film were evaluated. The X- RD study shows that the crystallization of the film is optimized at $550^{\circ}C$ of sintering temperature. According to the D-E hysterisis curve, the coercive field is 28.8 kV /cm, and the remanent polariztion is $18.3\;{\mu}C/cm^{2}$. The break down voltages of the thin films are $76.0\;{\sim}\;27.0\;MV/m$. When the sintering temperature is raised, the break down voltage is lowered. As a result of measuring the C-V characteristic curve of the ternary compound piezoelectric thin film, the relative dielectric constants are 406 for the composition (50:40:10), 1084 for the composition (50:30:20), 723 for the composition (45:35:20) and 316 for the composition (40:40:20).
