  • Biomass is considered to be a major potential fuel and renewable resource for the future. In fact, there is high potential to produce significant amount of energy from biomass around the world. In spite of the potential, there are a few efforts in biomass utilization in this nation. In this study, elemental biomass data was obtained with respect to the amount and calorific values of agricultural residues. Rice straw and husks were not included in the evaluation due to their demand from alternative uses such as livestock feedings, bedding materials, and so forth. Dry basis high calorific values are about 4,500 kcal/kg for all the agricultural residues investigated, similar to literature data. Energy densities or unit area energy value, from pepper and sesame were significant and comparable to those of woody biomass. These elemental data for biomass resources will Provide the background of Planning and development of biomass energy Program, which is getting more feasible along with advances in energy conversion technologies such as micro gas turbines.

  • This first part of a series provides some data on the quick growth, high importance and increasing cost of scientific research which leads to a doubling of the amount of research literature in about every eight years. The importance of periodicals is emphasized and some figures on the growth of abstract journals demonstrate how difficult it has become for the scientist to keep up with the current development in his subject field without using documentation. The second part, in KORSTIC's next issue, deals with the scope and methods of scientific documentation, the third part with the devices and machines for information processing and with the problem of automation, whilst the fourth part throws some light on the organization of documentation work all around the world.

  • The purpose of this paper is to identify learning in games in experimental economic settings, and apply their results to real multilateral trade negotiations, such as the Doha Development Agenda (DDA) in the World Trade Organizations (WTO). This paper argues that the structure of games including a veto player (Veto games) is similar to the WTO/DDA negotiations in that the players do not possess identical power. This paper's main contribution to the literature involves showing that learning about power is dominant over learning from simple repetition in Veto games. Additionally, this paper shows that players are concerned about how much they have gained in previous games in Veto games, although their memories generally do not last beyond the next game, and thus they tend to be selfish as they have less shares. Based on these results, there is a possibility to be more generous in the distribution of benefits by allowing players without veto power to retain special rights so that they would not be totally powerless. It also shows the necessity of having "respite" in the process of negotiations and policy options for choosing partners for winning coalitions.

  • This article reports a spontaneous thoracic teratoma in a laying hen (Deklb brown warren). In this case, a 40 days old hen was submitted for necropsy as part of an investigation into a flock problem suspected Marek's disease to Chonbuk Veterinary Service Laboratory in 1983. On the gross finding, mass was In the cranial subpulmonary cavity and attached to the vertebral column. It contained fully developed contour feathers. Histologically, feathers were arised from feather follicles complete with arrector plumi muscle, nerve, vessel and mucous gland composed with simple tall columnar epithelium. The outer surface of mass was lined by keratinized or nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelium. It converted to pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium in some area. There were lymphocyte infiltration around gland tissue and eosinophilic intranuclear inclusion bodies in nonkeratinized epithelium. This thoracic teratoma was composed of ectodermal origin, squamous epithelium and nerve, and endodermal origin, mucous gland. This case in laying hen has never been reported in the literature in the world.

  • Chondrosarcomas are uncommon tumors. Approximately 5-10% are located in the head and neck. Nasal septal chondrosarcoma is exceedingly rare, with an extensive review of the world literature revealing only 50 reported cases. Most occur in middle-aged man. Surgical resection is the definitive treatment of choice. Radiation and chemotherapy are reserved for residual or recurrent diseases and palliation. We present a case of nasal septal chondrosarcoma treated with craniofacial resection and postoperative radiation therapy.

  • Cementifyng fibroma is one of the fibro-osseous lesions. All fibro-osseous lesions containing cementum are considered to be of periodontal membrance origin and is most common in the maxilla and mandible. Rarely, cementifying fibromas are seen in other craniofacial bone except jaw lesion. A diligent search in the available world literature show only two documentation of cementifying fibroma in the fronto-orbital bone. This case is third case but first in the frontal bone beyond orbit. The authors report a case of cementifying fibroma of the frontal bone in 12-year-old female patient.

  • The expansion of the world wide web has led to a huge amount of user generated content over different forums and social media platforms, these rich data resources offer the opportunity to reflect, and track changing public sentiments and help to develop proactive reactions strategies for decision and policy makers. Analysis of public emotions and opinions towards events and sentimental trends can help to address unforeseen areas of public concerns. The need of developing systems to analyze these sentiments and the topics behind them has emerged tremendously. While most existing works reported in the literature have been carried out in English, this paper, in contrast, aims to review recent research works in Arabic language in the field of thematic sentiment analysis and which techniques they have utilized to accomplish this task. The findings show that the prevailing techniques in Arabic topic-based sentiment analysis are based on traditional approaches and machine learning methods. In addition, it has been found that considerably limited recent studies have utilized deep learning approaches to build high performance models.

  • Family business is the oldest and the most prevalent type of entity in the world. In India, 85% of the enterprises are owned and/or managed by families, contributing to two-third of GDP. Thus the survival of family firms, which also generates 79% of private sector employment, is of paramount importance. Effective succession planning and innovation to gain competitive edge are the two key ways to ensure family firm survival. In this paper, the interplay between family succession and innovation is qualitatively studied using case study approach. Successors and Predecessors are interviewed to gain insights in the areas of succession planning and innovation. It is observed that family succession has a positive relationship with innovation, i.e. the presence of founding family members in the ownership and/or management of the enterprise has a positive influence on innovation tendency of the family firms. The findings contribute to the family business literature on succession planning and innovation, and their inter-relationship.

  • In Jamaica Kincaid's novel Lucy, the narrator grows up with the burden of colonial legacies embedded with Englands' imperial disciplinary projects, its language, educational institutions, discourses. Colonial education interpellates the narrator into a colonial subject through its multiple ideological discourses and systems. Teaching the literature of England is the most insidious form of the Empire's disciplinary colonial projects, more powerful than military enforcement: Its mode of operation is creating phantasy and instigating and planting desire for such phantasy. As Homi Bhabha aptly theorizes as colonial mimicry and ambivalence, the narrator as colonial subject grows up split and confused as an ambivalent subject, simultaneously mimicking and desiring for the phantasized England as real, while resisting and criticizing such up-bringing and mimetic desire. This paper explores Kincaid's rhetorical strategy of employing Wordsworth's poem, "I Wandered as a Lonely Cloud," especially her use of the flower "daffodil." Employing the concept of "daffodil gap" suggested by postcolonial critics, this paper closely examines two episodes involving the flower daffodil in the novel, one in a colonial classroom and the other in a garden in a new world and suggests that Kincaid accomplishes intertextual critique of colonial education and imperial projects.

  • In this paper, we propose an well-organized lecture note for giving a better understanding on the Internet of Things (IoT) to people including non-computer majors without computing and communication knowledge. In recent years, the term 'IoT' has been popularized, and IoT will make a huge impact on our industries, societies, and environments. Although there are large amount of literature on presenting IoT from technological perspectives, few are published that are organized for teaching students having non-computer-related majors. Based on research and education experiences on IoT, we tried to make a lecture note focusing on the process of collecting data from everyday objects, transmitting and sharing data, and utilizing data to create new values for us. The proposed lecture note was employed in teaching a liberal arts class, and it was shown that students could have an understanding of what IoT really means and how IoT could change our world.
