  • Recently, various medical services are provided with the advance of IT. However, there is a problem that a third party would exploit medical information when the information is sent and received through wired or wireless connection. In this paper, a patient information management scheme using group index information for the third party not to illegally exploit a patient's medical information without his consent is proposed. This proposed scheme creates index information in each hierarchical level to be used with access information so that not only medical staff can have access to patient's medical information hierarchically but also it can manage access level in groups. The scheme aims to enable the medical staff to minimize the time spent to analyze the type of disease and to prescribe for it so that they can improve patients' satisfaction. Plus, the scheme aims to improve work efficiency by minimizing the medical staff's workload according to the authority to access patients' medical information.

  • The year of 2009~2010 brought a number of concepts and new ideas were evaluated with promising results. However, some studies that challenged many beliefs. In acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), recent clinical studies took into consideration of pathophysiologic changes of respiratory system compliance. Meta-analysis of positive end-expiratory pressure trials showed survival benefit of high positive end-expiratory pressure in ARDS. Until now, prone positioning did not show survival benefit in patients with ARDS. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) based management improved survival in patients with severe ARDS. ECMO can be a management option in severe ARDS. Sedation is a standard practice in critically ill patients needing mechanical ventilation. However, Danish group reported less sedation of critically ill patients receiving mechanical ventilation was associated with an increase in days without ventilation. Although this single center study has some limitations, the overall results are promising. Use of maximal sterile barrier precautions (mask, sterile gown, sterile gloves, and large sterile drapes) with chlorhexidine-impregnated dressing reduced central venous catheter related infection. Selective oropharyngeal decontamination (application of topical antibiotics in the oropharynx) reduced the mortality rate of an intensive care unit (ICU) population. Normoglycemia in Intensive Care Evaluation and Survival Using Glucose Algorithm Regulation (NICE-SUGAR) trial reported intensive glucose control increased mortality among adults in the ICU. Some of the results of above papers are promising. However, some ideas may need for more frequent individual assessment and increase the workload of ICU staffs. Before implementation of new practice in ICU, we should take into consideration of individual hospital situation including human and material resources.

  • Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is a network-based mobility support protocol and it does not require Mobile Nodes (MNs) to be involved in the mobility support signaling. In the case when multiple interfaces are active in an MN simultaneously, each data flow can be dynamically allocated to and redirected between different access networks to adapt to the dynamically changing network status and to balance the workload. Such a flow redistribution control is called "flow mobility". In the existing PMIPv6-based flow mobility support, although the MN's logical interface can solve the well-known problems of flow mobility in a heterogeneous network, some missing procedures, such as an MN-derived flow handover, make PMIPv6-based flow mobility incomplete. In this paper, an enhanced flow mobility support is proposed for actualizing the flow mobility support in PMIPv6. The proposed scheme is also based on the MN's logical interface, which hides the physical interfaces from the network layer and above. As new functional modules, the flow interface manager is placed at the MN's logical interface and the flow binding manager in the Local Mobility Anchor (LMA) is paired with the MN's flow interface manager. They manage the flow bindings, and select the proper access technology to send packets. In this paper, we provide the complete flow mobility procedures which begin with the following three different triggering cases: the MN's new connection/disconnection, the LMA's decision, and the MN's request. Simulation using the ns-3 network simulator is performed to verify the proposed procedures and we show the network throughput variation caused by the network offload using the proposed procedures.

  • It is not easy to set RED(Random Early Detection) parameter according to environment in managing Network Device. Especially, it is more difficult to set parameter in the case of maintaining the constant service rate according to the change of environment. In this paper, we hypothesize the router that has Multi-core CPU in output queue and propose AI RED(Artificial Intelligence RED), which directly induces Genetic Algorithm of Artificial Intelligence in the output queue that is appropriate to the optimization of parameter according to RED environment, which is automatically adaptive to workload. As a result, AI RED Is simpler and finer than FuRED(Fuzzy-Logic-based RED), and RED parameter that AI RED searches through simulations is more adaptive to environment than standard RED parameter, providing the effective service. Consequently, the automation of management of RED parameter can provide a manager with the enhancement of efficiency in Network management.

  • The size of observation data in astronomy has been increasing exponentially with the advents of wide-field optical telescopes. This means the needs of changes to the way used for large-scale astronomy data analysis. The complexity of analysis tools and the lack of extensibility of computing environments, however, lead to the difficulty and inefficiency of dealing with the huge observation data. To address this problem, this paper proposes a workflow execution system for analyzing large-scale astronomy data efficiently. The proposed system is composed of two parts: 1) a workflow execution manager and its RESTful endpoints that can automate and control data analysis tasks based on workflow templates and 2) an elastic resource manager as an underlying mechanism that can dynamically add/remove virtualized computing resources (i.e., virtual machines) according to the analysis requests. To realize our workflow execution system, we implement it on a testbed using OpenStack IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) toolkit and HTCondor workload manager. We also exhaustively perform a broad range of experiments with different resource allocation patterns, system loads, etc. to show the effectiveness of the proposed system. The results show that the resource allocation mechanism works properly according to the number of queued and running tasks, resulting in improving resource utilization, and the workflow execution manager can handle more than 1,000 concurrent requests within a second with reasonable average response times. We finally describe a case study of data reduction system as an example application of our workflow execution system.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the nursing needs and workload of nurses according to nursing dependency for effective placement of nursing staff in the emergency department (ED). Methods: In June 2020, 256 adult patients who visited the ED were classified as two groups, suspected COVID-19 patients and general patients. The participants'electronic medical records were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, 𝑥2-test, and Fisher's exact test using the SPSS. Results: The patient dependence score showed a significant difference between the two groups, with an average of 13.99±1.85 for the suspected COVID-19 patient group and 10.58±2.10 for the general patient group (t=12.42, p<.001). There were statistically significant differences in communication (t=3.28, p=.001), mobility (t=3.29, p=.001), nutrition, elimination, and personal care (t=7.34, p<.001) among the six domains of nursing dependency. In the domains of environment, safety, health, and social needs, the dependency score was 3 for all suspected COVID-19 patients and 1 for all general patients. Conclusion: The results of this study confirmed that infection control activities of emergency patients who need isolation affect the patients' nursing dependency on nursing care.

  • In December 2014, Livestock and Livestock Products Traceability Act was established, allowing consumers to receive livestock traceability information. While the Livestock Traceability System provides consumers with transparent and fair information about their food, it has brought increased workload and penalty burdens to stakeholders in the livestock industry. In this paper, we propose an IoT system for inventory management based on traceability numbers to enable sellers to conveniently provide livestock traceability information to consumers. We analyzed the protocol for managing data from electronic scales and conducted functional testing and verification on mobile devices. Furthermore, we implemented the design and system functionality, taking into account UI/UX on Android OS-based devices to synchronize and interconnect traceability and product information with electronic scales. We anticipate that the proposed approach will minimize user inconvenience and raise production efficiency in the existing market.

  • In this paper, we proposes a user management system for efficient operation of the combat system within naval ship. Recently, naval ships have seen performance enhancements through various sensors, features, and continuous system development. This progress in the system has led to an increase in multi-funstion consoles that can manipulate various sensors and features within naval ship, consequently increasing the number of operators for these consoles. Therefore, a user management system that can control and manage multi-function consoles and operators in real-time is necessary for efficient management within naval ship. This paper suggests a user management system that can effectively manage the real-time situation of users accessing multi-function consoles. Additionally, a parallelization method using GPUs to reduce the CPU workload in operating various functions of the combat system is proposed. The proposed user management system has shown a performance improvement where the response time decreased by approximately 82% and the occupancy reduced by approximately 20% compared to the method using CPUs.

  • This study investigated the symptoms of work-related musculoskeletal disorder(WMSDs) for physical therapists who have different work duties. We analyzed the symptoms in the musculoskeletal system and the degree of work-harmfulness by the survey of the symptom in the musculoskeletal system and rapid upper limb assessment(RULA) for pain control group(n=56), adult exercise group(n=53), and pediatric exercise group(n=22). As a result, 69.6% of the pain control group, 84.9% of the adult exercise group, 81.8% of the pediatric exercise group show the observable symptom. The adult exercise group has the biggest work load per hour in the final wrist & arm score of the ergonomic risk assessment using RULA. The action level of the pain control group is $3.0{\pm}0.9$; the Action Level of adult exercise group is $3.3{\pm}0.6$; the Action Level of the pediatric exercise group is $3.2{\pm}0.8$, and so it is shown that the adult exercise group has a problem of working posture. It is considered that devices and education system for preventing from WMSDs should come into wide use.

  • A lane change maneuver which has a high driver cognitive workload and skills sometimes leads to severe traffic accidents. In this study, the Advanced Lane Change Assist System (ALCAS) was developed to assist with the automatic lane changes in merging sections which is mainly based on an automatic control algorithm for detecting an available gap, determining the Optimal Lane Change Start Point (OLCSP) in various traffic conditions, and positioning the merging vehicle at the OLCSP safely by longitudinal automatic controlling. The analysis of lane change behavior and modeling of fundamental lane change feature were performed for determining the default parameters and the boundary conditions of the algorithm. The algorithm was composed of six steps with closed-loop. In order to confirm the algorithm performance, numerical scenario tests were performed in various surrounding vehicles conditions. Moreover, feasibility of the developed system was verified in microscopic traffic simulation(VISSIM 5.3 version). The results showed that merging vehicles using the system had a tendency to find the OLCSP readily and precisely, so improved merging performance was observed when the system was applied. The system is also effective even during increases in vehicle volume of the mainline.
