  • The Joint curing barns for flue-cured tobacco is a favorite with the tobacco farmers in Korea. However, most of farmer utilizing the joint curing barns indicated many problems such as high temperature and noise in the working room and a dry of cured leaves in the storage room. A structure of Joint curing barns has been modified to meet the needs of tobacco farmers. Compared with the unimproved joint curing barns, the improved one showed that the noise of workshop decreased about 7.7~10.8db, the amount of $CO_2$ decreased 40~50ppm in a working room and 80~100ppm in a machine room. Ammonia gas decreased 0.29mg/㎥ and the temperature of a working room dropped about 2.1~3.5$^{\circ}C$. The amount of air flow in a working room increased 23.2% at a site being 2m away from the entrance and 30.8% at a center. The inner temperature of the improved storage room showed that maximum temperature dropped about 3$^{\circ}C$, minimum temperature was high about 2$^{\circ}C$. The highest relative humidity was low 6%, the lowest one increased high about 10% when compared with the unimproved joint curing barns.

Methods: The subjects of this study were 73 people who were working from hospital operating-room. A questionnaire consisting of general characteristics, pain symptoms, and pain frequency was given. Objective working posture analysis was done by using REBA after recording moving images in hospital operating-rooms. Results: The result were as follows. The risk level of musculoskeletal symptom related working posture was high, and the management level was at the least 2; 'some management was required for musculoskeletal symptom'. The frequency of pain was 3~4 times/week and the severe pain were experienced from legs, neck, and shoulder. The result of relation of general characteristics and pain were significant variable with sex, age, marital status, weight, past working history, average working time(hr/day), working style, and working department. Conclusion: These results contribute to a better understanding of operation-room workers have high possibility of musculoskeletal disease and are severe musculoskeltal pain related working posture.

The self-administered questionnaries were composed of low back pain, subjective fatigue symptoms, musculo-skeletal symptoms, psychological stress and reproductive function. The results were as follows : 1. In the type of working posture and working environment, there were significant difference between two groups for working posture, waist form, height of working table, satisfaction of chair, lifting & carring. 2. Job satisfaction, duration of work, height of working table, satisfaction of chair, lifting & carring were significantly associated the low back pain. 3. In the complaints of subjective fatigue symptoms, the total mean score was higher in OR nurse than WARD nurse, but there was not significant. The items that the mean score of OR nurse was significantly higher than WARD nurse were 'head feels muddled', 'apt to forget', 'feel choky'. 4. In the complaints of musculo-skeletal syrrptoms, the total mean score was higher in OR nurse than WARD nurse, but there was not significant. The item that the mean score of OR nurse was significantly higher WARD nurse was 'wrist discomfort or pain'. 5. The comparison of spontatenous abortion in married nurses who had the experience of pregnancy were significantly associated the stress risk group. 6. In all of OR and Ward nurses, the job satisfaction is associated with subjective fatigue symptoms, musculo-skeletal symptoms, and stress. In conclusion, it suggested that working posture, working environment, stress, and job satisfaction were health risk factors of nurses working in the operating room. Further prospective intervention studies should be conducted to educate right working posture, improve of working environment, decrease of stress, and increase of job satisfaction.

The subjects were 45 nurses working in the operating room. Experimental group were 24 nurses in G Hospital and control group were 21 nurses in U Hospital. All of the subjects were measured of the subjective stress, stress responses and the job stress. For aromatherapy, lavender, bergamot, and ylang were mixed in the ratio of 2 : 2 : 1. Results: 1) "The subjective stress of experimental group is lower than that of the control group" was supported (t=-2.70, p=.01). 2) "The stress responses of experi-mental group is lower than that of the control group" was supported (t=-2.49, p=.01). 3) "The job stress of experimental group is lower than that of the control group" was supported (t=-7.97, p=.00). Conclusion: This study suggested that such aroma inhalation method could be effective on stress of nurses working in operating room.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the energy expenditure of working in a clean room for manufacturing embedded needles by ergonomic programs. Embedding needle is one of medical devices and it should be manufactured in a clean room. 3D static strength prediction program was used to analyze the slow movements during embedding needle manufacturing in a clean room. Also the energy expenditure prediction program was used to estimate energy expenditure rates for materials handling tasks to help assure worker safety and health in clean room. The energy expenditures of the tasks were calculated using prediction equations derived from empirical data. The energy expenditure rate of 3.09 kcal/min in a clean room didn't exceed the 3.5 kcal/min action limit guideline for an average 8-hour day set by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Energy consumption was calculated on the same working conditions as EEPP program, using an average body weight of female 20 years old to 59 years who would be the candidates of the real workers.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the infection prevention system and infection management perception of Ultrasound diagnostic room in medical institutions by sonographer's in general practitioner, semi and general hospitals. As a research method, a statistical analysis was conducted by surveying a total of 20 items in four category to determine the infection perception of sonographer's according to gender, age, working institution, and working period. As a result of infection awareness, males were in the ultrasound gel management category, women were in the transducer management category, all age groups were in the transducer management system category, and the General Practitioner, semi and general hospitals. were in the transducer management system category, and general hospitals showed a high degree of infection awareness in the category of disinfection and sterilization, and in the category of transducer management in the entire working period. In the results of the analysis of the correlation between the sub-factors of the perception of infection control in the Ultrasound diagnostic room the degree of correlation between each category showed a middle degree correlation(r>0.5) and a significant difference by category(p<.01). In conclusion, the prevention of infection in the ultrasound diagnostic room, which sonographer's firms think, was found to be the most efficient ultrasound diagnostic room infection control to implement transducer and gel management in accordance with the principles of disinfection and sterilization.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the relationship between organizational health (OH), safety climate (SC), the nursing working environment (NWE), and engagement in patient safety management activities (PSMA) among operating room nurses and identify the factors that predict engagement in PSMA. Methods: From August 10th to 25th, 2018, 176 operating room nurses who were working in tertiary and general hospitals responded to a structured questionnaire. Using SPSS/WIN 25.0, the collected data were subjected to independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Scheffe?test, and Pearson's correlational and multiple stepwise regression analyses. Results: OH and SC were significantly correlated with engagement in PSMA. The factors that predicted engagement in PSMA were OH, NWE, participation in accreditation, years of work experience, and hospital size; together, they explained 17% of the variance in engagement in PSMA. Conclusion: This study revealed that OH has a significant influence on engagement in PSMA among operating room nurses. Therefore, hospitals should aim to create healthy working environments to promote engagement in PSMA among operating room nurses, actively delegate responsibilities to increase their level of participation in accreditation, and implement strategies that maintain high levels of nurse retention.
